D. Scott is a new author to me, but I can already tell I’ll be checking out more of her work. I like her writing style, and let’s be real…I’m always down ten toes for a mafia arranged marriage. But when it comes to mafia romance, the mafia has to mafia, okay?
Let’s talk about Trouble, the MMC. He was giving what he needed to give, all about business only until that woman had him folding like a lawn chair. I love that kind of chaos. And Storm? Sis understood the assignment. She stepped into her role as the dutiful mafia wife with her eyes (mostly) open. But girl, why would you sign a contract without reading it? And why agree to having no niggas without making sure he agreed to having no bitches? Absolutely not. We going band for band, sir. Don’t piss me off.
That said, I really appreciated how Storm wasn’t just a mafia wife, she had goals. She was about her business and she went to school. That detail impressed me. I just wish the author had used it in a way that pushed the story forward instead of it being a throwaway detail.
Now, here’s where things started to fall apart for me. This book felt like it started in the middle of the story. With a storyline this layered, we needed way more backstory and development. Telling a story like this in just 190+ pages? That’s lazy writing. We need development and a proper character arc. A stream of well-placed, detailed flashbacks would’ve hit hard. But with the way this story was paced, and with so many extra storylines tossed in, guess what happens to the romance?
Yep. It suffers.
I live for a “he falls first and hard” MMC, but baby…after they were apart for months? How did we even get there? They barely spent time together on page, and the time they did spend was off-page. Again….lazy. If you want me to believe in their relationship, you have to show me their journey, not just tell me it happened.
The mafia vibes were solid, but they completely overshadowed the romance, which should’ve been the heart of the story. The mafia should’ve been secondary, and here, it took over. I also expected Trouble to be more gritty and unhinged…he’s supposed to be the boss…but his moves didn’t always give that energy. And when it comes to the secondary storyline, scenes were mentioned but not fleshed out on page. That’s a problem. If you’re going to tell us so much, why not just put those moments on the page?
The book moved at lightning speed and lacked structure. Key elements..development, backstory, and fully realized scenes..were missing. And that’s what’s holding this story back from being great.
That said, D. Scott definitely has talent. Her storytelling is entertaining, and I loved the family dynamics. I can’t wait to read the brothers’ stories. But going forward, I hope the author centers the primary romance and gives it the time and development it deserves—alongside the secondary mafia plot.
Overall, the book has great bones, but the execution needs work. I’ll be looking for more from this author because I believe she has the potential to blow us away.

Storm is just a mafia princess who wants to be free. She wants to get her degree and open her business, date a little and live normal. None of that is possible when the Rockwell family had a 6-decade long war with the Jennings family.

I always love a good Mafia, arranged marriage, grumpy-ish/sunshine story. Trouble came into it saying business only but it didn’t take long for him to accept his attraction to his new wife and want to make it real. I’m still not quite sure how we got there because he literally avoided her for months after the wedding. But nonetheless I was glad we got there. And once we arrived….baby, Trouble said PLAY WITH SOMEBODY ELSE, NOT ME WHEN IT COMES TO MINE! I liked that Storm wasn’t the typical Mafia princess. Though a bit sheltered she still had ambitions and wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. I loved the relationship between the Jennings brothers and can’t wait to read more about Jax and Judah. Especially Judah. This was an easy-ish love story, some mild drama, but generally felt low angst/tension.

I was barely 20% in and I knew I was hooked. The Quiet Storm and Forever Trouble were the cutest drink names.
Mr. Talk You Through it chillllleeee yes he was talking her through it on these pages.
Her rapping Jeezy took me out but it helped Jrue see Storm was way more than what meets the eye. I read this book on my flight and chileeeeee I had a great time lol. I love me a good arranged marriage book.
Jrue gave my man my man energy this entire book and is now a favorite book bae. I loved watching their love and chemistry bloom naturally. I loved watching a man be a real man and not cower. I loved Jrue but I also loved me some Judah. I want a book for Judah and a book for Jaxon lol I couldn’t get enough.

These decade long wars over a man being butt hurt over a woman must end! 🤣🙄 The Rockwell's and Jennings families were taking each other out for years, until there was almost no one left! 🥹 The head of each family finally decided that peace was the answer. However, the peace treaty would not be easy for the children involved.
Jrue "Trouble" definitely lived up to his name. Along with his brothers they helped the Jennings mafia run like a well-oiled machine. Marriage was not on Trouble's bingo card, but he knew what needed to be done for the family, so he agrees.
Storm Rockwell was groomed a mafia princess but always felt stifled due to this stupid war. When her father proposed the arrangement, she was not thrilled but was willing to do what was necessary to end the war. If marriage does that, then so be it.
The attraction between Trouble and Storm was immediate, however, they both understood that this was a marriage in name only. Well.... until it wasn't. It didn't take long for these two to realize that they had true feelings for one another, and act on them.
Then the snakes come out of hiding, making themselves known. The Jennings brothers jump into action to dead that situation. I loved how Storm was able to bring out the soft side of Jrue. Although Storm may be green to most of mafia life, she was not going to allow anyone else to rule over her, Trouble included. She put her foot down, to try and have some semblance of independence. Well as much as Trouble allowed her too. 🤣 Enjoyed this, and ready to jump into the next read. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

This is my first time reading from this author. i honestly love this type of arranged marriage. i love when the ppl involved know the situation they are in and instead of fighting it they use it to the best of their advantage. Storm is that good and i love and love that she did that.

I believe this is my second read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I just loved her writing style and the storyline. I will say I rated this lower just because of the amount of pages. I feel like for a mafia story and what happened in the book, I would’ve loved for it to be a little longer than it was. I think expanding it and focusing more on their relationship versus the rush of him saying he didn’t want to engage in her sexually to doing so not even a chapter later.

It was good. I felt like something was missing between Jrue and Storm. I wanted more of a build up before they started feeling each other. It seemed rushed even though it was an arranged marriage. I love that Jrue did not play about his wife. It took a minute for him to adjust to her being in his life. I do think the work well together. Judah and Jax are hilarious. I can’t wait to read their books next

These Jennings men are not to be played with especially Jrue aka Trouble. Ya boy was definitely the force to be reckoned with. He was that action now and questions later. That unapproachable type🫣. Oh but what he wasn’t expecting was a proposal to change the dynamic of it all - Storm🤭! From first site ya boy was gone🤭. That immediate obsession and procession of her told it all. Then it was the jealous moment 🤣🤣. His vulnerability was it for me🥰. The way he was a different person when it came to her. But that Farah! Yeah, he handled that wonderfully in my eyes🫣! That uncle though. Yeah, Trouble is the perfect name.
Storm was just a young woman who just wanted to live off to the fullest but due to family ties that wasn’t option or so she thought🫣. The end of a proposal to end a generational would change ya girl life - Jrue. She was no different than Jrue when they first met - smiiten🤭. What I love the most about her, she did not have an issue with voicing her concerns and feelings. My girl stood ten toes down on wanting her freedom and away from family ties🥰! She also didn’t take disrespect well at all and ya girl Farah found that out🤣. Oh but the icing on the cake was when she realize who Jrue was when he was with her. Not only that, the way she stepped in to her position🤏🏾🤏🏾!
Let me mention Jax and Judah. They are their brother keeper🥰. He rocking & they rolling. The brother’s relation is top tier and I’m here for it. Then the different personalities but the same in their own way. Can’t wait to learn more about them, especially Jax & Kennedy. They were pretty cozy in the read🥰. Now I will quickly mention this woman - Farah! Listen babygirl set herself up for failure🤭. She wasn’t such the big girl she said she was🤣!

Imagine being forced into an arranged marriage to end a war that’s been going on for generations all because somebody’s granddaddy lost his girl and decided everybody else needed to suffer too tf 😭😂
Storm went into this arrangement with one goal: keep it strictly business. Name only marriage, don’t embarrass each other. Simple enough, right?

Storm found out REAL quick that this man was willing to crash out behind her because even THINKING about touching her could cost you to lose a hand. Consent or not, Trouble was not playing about her. That man didn’t even want another man blessing her if she sneezed😂😂

Trouble Forever was a quick, cute, get-in-the-mood-for-BDE type of story. Jrue gave exactly what I was expecting from a boss man in charge of the Mafia—confident, cocky, and full of that untouchable swag. Storm was born and raised in a Mafia family that just happened to be feuding with Jrue’s, and of course, the “solution” was for them to marry to end it all.
Naturally, you’ve got haters who didn’t like how their fake marriage turned real and tried to stop it—and that’s when Trouble came out. Jrue’s “don’t f*ck around” energy was on full display as he stood ten toes behind his woman once he realized he wanted their marriage to work.
Storm had her innocent moments that irked me a bit—like, girl, you were raised in a Mafia family, don’t act brand new—but I did appreciate that she stood her ground and refused to be a caged bird again. The smut was great (love a good “talking through it” scene), and the ending wrapped things up nicely. Can’t wait for book two.
Trouble Forever was a quick, cute, get-in-the-mood-for-BDE type of story. Jrue gave exactly what I was expecting from a boss man in charge of the Mafia—confident, cocky, and full of that untouchable swag. Storm was born and raised in a Mafia family that just happened to be feuding with Jrue’s, and of course, the “solution” was for them to marry to end it all.
Naturally, you’ve got haters who didn’t like how their fake marriage turned real and tried to stop it—and that’s when Trouble came out. Jrue’s “don’t f*ck around” energy was on full display as he stood ten toes behind his woman once he realized he wanted their marriage to work.

At the beginning I was really into this book, however as it went on I didn't enjoy it as much, firstly we felt the physical attraction early on but none of their later interactions led me to believe they loved each other, maybe lust but certainly not love.
Storm's reaction to that man trying to kidnap her and then being mad at Storm and not trying to communicate with him but just blaming him and believing he was behind it was crazy to me. His reaction to her saying no I'm not coming with you was to have sex with her, I'm like you all aren't doing much communication at all.
I just felt like this book focused on trying to introduce us to everyone and showing their various dynamics but I couldn't really grasp or connect with the characters that well.

Jrue and Storm mafia royalty
As mafia stores go, this one had drama, intrigue and a contract for marriage on paper between two families that have been out for the blood of the other for decades. Jrue Jennings and Storm Rockwell had never met, but in order to end a war and stop the bloodshed, these two are pledged to be married. And of course, when these two meet there’s instant attraction on both sides, making them both suspicious and like they are betraying their families. There marriage starts off very slowly, with no intimacy, no contact. But then, something changes!
Great story, that I recommend. I hope there’s more to come with stories for Jaxon and Judah!

The good kind of Trouble
Talk about a man who really did fall in love with his wife when he first seen her and even though he didn’t know it and he didn’t show it maybe he knew that I was the game for him. This was an arranged marriage from one mafia boss to a mafia princess.Miss Strorm was looking for a sense of freedom with his arranged marriage, but instead she got locked down in the best way she, Trouble was looking at this situation as strictly business. But of course they started understanding each other more and spending time and this only made their love blossom.

Trouble and Storm
First off, I like to say that Trouble is my kind of trouble and he can get it anytime…Lol, but I’m serious. Trouble didn’t come to play and once he got a feel and taste of Storm, he was locked in and he didn’t play about his wife. Trouble and Storm were ending wars and building family bridges. I pray that the brothers get their own story because I can see the uncle’s son being a problem. Either way, I am here for it. I’m also glad these that Trouble and Storm made it thru the ups and downs and now living happily ever after as a real married couple.

After decades of war and bloodshed, I’m surprised how well these two crazy ass families blended, but most importantly, Storm and Trouble’s union? 👀❤️🔥❤️🔥 Hot and heavy from the start, he did not play about this woman AT ALL iykyk 🤯
I can’t wait to continue this series and see how things play out with Jaxon and Judah’s stories. It seems like there’s still so much at stake, and I have a feeling the drama is only getting started 🫣

When you read mafia stories it’s always the fmc who is against and fighting and just being plain rude. Not Storm, she took walked intro his role with Grace and stood on business. Jrue aka Trouble I doubted him for a second, but when I say he wasn’t playing no games behind Storm he meant that wholeheartedly family or not. I loved his growth and how they communicated with each other.

mafia reads are my fav
The way to keep me interested is a good mafia read. An arranged marriage gone do it as well. I wasn’t expecting Storm to be a virgin. I guess because she wasn’t shy about kissing him and when they almost slept together in the kitchen she didn’t say it. Trouble didn’t play about her at all. Him taking over to be the head of the family he stood on business and didn’t play about his wife. Sad that people lost their life due to being jealous.

I loved loved loved this book. The storyline was very entertaining and I was hooked from start to finish. That darn Farrah and Evan deserved their fate along with everyone else that went against the family. Judah and Jax! I loved the relationship between them and Jrue as well Storm. Definitely a five star read. My first by this author but I’m willing to check out her catalog.

Love!!! So glad I read it. Storm, aka "rainstorm" was such a sweet relief; eccentric, smart and soft. Mr. Jrue, oh he is a boss, no bullshit, loyal, and to me, a gentleman . I love how he stepped for Storm even before deep feelings were meet. Trouble's hard shell was NO match for Storm's light spirits. Honestly, if you just want a easy sexy love story, Mr & Mrs Jennings book is it. (10/10) If we can get Judah's book that'll be nice :)

Interesting Novel
The book had a regularly used mafia plot, but it was well written, and the flow was sound and not boring at all. I loved the strength of the heroine; in a lot of these mafia book plots, it takes forever for the heroine to adapt into their position as the wife of the Don/leader. Not so in this novel. Also the hero was a strong alpha male but not abusive and did not hesitate to show love. Very good book.

This was the first book by this author I've read and I really enjoyed it. Arranged marriage/marriage of convenience are two of my favorite tropes and I thought it was done great. The side characters were also great without overpowering the story. Trouble was just enough "trouble" that it showed why he was the boss and not too much that I felt he needed to be committed. That claustrophobic thing was little concerning albeit funny and deserving. Off to book 2
