I never wanted to be a cop let alone work for an agency that used to hunt monsters like me. However, there seemed to be no place for me in my pack. Especially because I didn't take orders well from my dad or my aunt…and I have too much of my abjured mother’s looks to be accepted. Same went for working for mundane corporations. One little territorial growl, and I'd be in HR, explaining it was my culture.
So, I took up the International Supernatural Enforcement Agencies’ offer to be among the first supernaturals among them. Because they kept the hard cases for the experienced agents, my days of a rookie I.S.E.A. agent bordered on the ludicrous but were never boring.
However, when a rash of ritualistic wolf shifter murders spreads across the country and spans across the borders, Director Tan thinks my partner Jada and I would be perfect for the case.
Why two rookies? Because my I'm a wolf shifter of Fenrir's line through my mother. Which means my ancestors made a deal with the god to become what we are today. I have that in common with the murder victims.
Also, on a scary note? I have a crushing feeling Fenrir is calling me to cash in on my ancestor’s deal.
So, does my father, the son of the Archangel Gabriel, who passes down his sword from the angelic wars for protection. Igni can light with angelfire, and she also likes to spout her righteous opinion in my head, ad nauseum.
As Jada and I work the case, we discover there is a cult behind the murders and they’re not just any cult. They claim to be the group embodiment of Lif and Lifthrasir—the people who will live through Ragnarök. In case you haven’t heard, that’s when a giant snake devours our little third rock from the sun. The cult even has nifty leaders who want to be gods, and the sacrificial murders are leveling them up to take on the Aesir.
Lucky us, the Aesir have assigned a gorgeous Valkyrie named Bryn to help us out. Not sure if I can trust her. Jada certainly doesn’t. Especially since I've kissed Bryn before I knew who she was, and she appears whenever I’m in danger. Not complicated at all.
So, from wrangling giant multi-dimensional vermin frying pan into the stop the world from ending fire, I must jump. Maybe if I get burned to a crisp, Igni will shut up in my head.
Wings and Fangs is the first book in the Supernatural Legacies planned trilogy where we are introduced to Roxanne Crowfoot, a wolf shifter, nephilim as the main character. Wings and Fangs is grittier, wittier, and more action packed than the Midlife Supernaturals and Oracle Chronicle books where Roxy is a side character. You don't have to read the other books to enjoy this one, but you might want to after reading this.
After living all over the U.S., T.J. Deschamps made the Pacific Northwest her home. There she raises three precocious teens. T.J. likes to lift weights, read, draw, dance, and collect oddities. Loves building worlds with words. Might be a dragon. Definitely a bog witch.
I really enjoyed this first book in this new series. Roxanne "Roxy" Crowfoot is a wolf shifter-Nephilim hybrid working for the International Supernatural Enforcement Agency aka I.S.E.A. alongside her stepsister and best friend Jada. Together as rookies, they are not yet assigned to the more high profile cases, until this latest one comes in.
When several wolf shifters are murdered and left exsanguinated in their half wolf-half human form, Roxy and Jada are sent to investigate. What they encounter is disturbing and will rely on all their skills as well as other allies and team mates to get to the bottom of who is doing all this and why.
I really enjoyed how well Roxy and Jada worked together. Their mix of skills, talents and powers worked so well together and made for a formidable team. I loved the introduction and revelation of Bryn as well and can't wait to see how the relationship between Roxy and Bryn develops even more in the next book.
The family dynamics and who's who got me a little confused at first, but once I got used to who everyone was and how they were all related, I understood them all a bit more!
I received an ARC copy of this book, but this review is my own honest one. A great start to this new series and I can't wait to read more about these characters and what they will solve next!
Told through Roxy’s perspective, this story immediately throws us into the bizarre: Roxy and her partner (also sister and best friend Jade) are hunting a super-sized rabbit that leaves behind eggs and, yes, poop. This quirky opening sets the tone perfectly. I was hooked and ready for more weirdness.
As the plot unfolds, we dive deeper into complex family dynamics and a fascinating world where mortals and magical beings coexist under strict oversight. The concept reminded me of Men in Black, but with memory-keepers instead of flashy gadgets. When gruesome murders surface and their connection to a looming apocalypse becomes clear, the narrative shifts into a high-stakes race to save the world.
I loved the originality and eccentricity of the story. It’s bold, imaginative, and full of surprises. That said, the pacing occasionally felt chaotic, with too many threads competing for attention. A little breathing room might have helped certain elements land more effectively. I later discovered this is part of an interconnected series, which explains some of the complexity. Knowing that upfront would have made the experience less overwhelming.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. The world-building intrigued me enough to add the rest of the series to my reading list. I’m eager to explore more of this universe.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
From the first page, this urban fantasy pulls you in. Roxy Crowfoot—a wolf-shifter–Nephilim hybrid with a sarcastic streak and a big heart—teams up with her stepsister and fellow I.S.E.A. rookie Jada to investigate a series of brutal ritual murders targeting wolf shifters. The case hits close to home, forcing Roxy to confront her complicated heritage while navigating rookie-agent chaos and supernatural danger.
Roxy and Jada’s dynamic is a highlight—their complementary skills and unwavering loyalty make them a formidable and lovable team. Add in an opinionated talking angel sword, unexpected divine entanglements, and Bryn, the Valkyrie who keeps saving Roxy’s hide (and sparking serious chemistry), and the story becomes even more irresistible.
The worldbuilding blends wolf-shifter lore, angelic lineage, and Norse mythology into an addictive plot filled with action, banter, and just the right amount of romance. I also really enjoyed the humor in this book.
Fast-paced, charming, and packed with supernatural chaos, Wings and Fangs is an unputdownable launch to the series. I’m already excited for book two.
Thank you to NetGalley, T.J. Deschamps, and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Supernaturals, witches, fae, mages and mundanes are now all living in the open and it seems from the part of Roxy and Jade's circle. They are step sisters and Partners in the International Supernatural Enforcement Agency. When we meet them they are chasing a space traveling monster rabbit to get him off Earth before he destroys it. They accomplish the task and are called into headquarters where they are assigned to a task. There have been killings of wolf shifters specifically from a certain blood line. All supers seem to have different blood lines between types of supers. When they arrive at the latest murder, the scene is more than disturbing. It has the feel of being a ritual and one they feel is due to a mage or a witch. They discover it is a cult of some kind of super who is trying to gain the god whos blood runs thru many wolf packs. The story gripped me , mesmerized me and I totally enjoyed the fantastic fantasy with a twist of romance that T.J. Deschamps has woven.
Wings and Fangs is a thrilling, fast-paced fantasy that perfectly balances action, adventure, and emotional depth. T.J. Deschamps crafts a vivid world where danger lurks around every corner, and every decision has high stakes, keeping readers fully engaged from start to finish.
The characters are dynamic and memorable, each with their own motivations, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Their interactions are charged with tension, camaraderie, and occasional humor, making it easy to become invested in their journey.
The story’s pacing is excellent, blending high-stakes battles, clever plotting, and quieter character moments seamlessly. Themes of loyalty, courage, and survival are explored in a way that feels organic and compelling.
Fans of fantasy with strong worldbuilding, intriguing characters, and action-packed adventures will find Wings and Fangs impossible to put down. A gripping and entertaining read that leaves you eager for more. 🐉✨
This book hooked me from the first page with its mix of gritty urban fantasy, sarcastic humor, and real emotional stakes. Roxanne Crowfoot—half wolf shifter, half nephilim, and fully overworked rookie agent—gets thrown into a string of brutal ritual murders targeting her own bloodline, and the mystery pulled me in fast. I loved watching her navigate her uneasy heritage, her talking angel sword (who absolutely has opinions), her bond with partner Jada, and the unexpected appearances of a gorgeous Valkyrie who keeps saving her hide. The action is sharp, the worldbuilding is clever, and the story moves with that perfect “just one more chapter” pacing. I enjoyed this book because it blended supernatural lore with fun banter and a truly likable protagonist, and I’m already excited for book two.
Fantasy. This one turned out not to be for me. The beginning of this book was really entertaining. But what came after didn’t have the humour that the beginning suggested. Through the rest of the book the author tried to put in too many fantasy tropes. Packing them in one after the other.
I felt slightly lost in what the characters magical abilities actually were - almost like actually they had everything under the sun.
There is a supernatural, Norse Gods influencing urban life, Cop, wolf-shifter saving the world story.
If that’s your vibe, then give it a go.
Thank you to Witch Works Publishing and NetGalley. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
If saving the world came with this much sass, danger, and wolf-girl chaos, sign me up for the apocalypse!
Okay, listen—I devoured this book like a werewolf at a midnight buffet. Roxanne is hilarious, stubborn, and exactly the kind of half-angel, half-wolf hot mess I adore cheering for. The murders are creepy, the magic is wild, the talking sword cracked me up, and that Valkyrie? Whew, honey. I had such a blast reading this—totally unputdownable, totally my vibe, and absolutely the kind of story that makes you shout “ONE MORE CHAPTER!” even when you’ve sworn you’re going to bed early. If you love supernatural chaos with heart and humor, you need this book in your life.
Wings and Fangs is a fast, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt ride through a world where wolf-shifter heritage, angelic legacies, and apocalyptic cults collide. Roxy’s voice is sharp and engaging, balancing snark with vulnerability as she navigates rookie-agent chaos, complicated family baggage, and a case that hits far too close to home. The blend of Norse mythology, supernatural policing, and messy romantic tension keeps the story moving at a brisk, entertaining pace. While the plot throws a lot at the reader, the energy and charm never flag, making this an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable start to the Supernatural Legacies trilogy.
I will admit this book was just not for me, it had so many aspects that could of been so good but the whole book was very messy and felt like the author was trying to fit too much into one book, there was so much going on and not a lot of it slotted together. I did enjoy the world building and the men in black style agency but the writing very young, with a lot of over explaining and the characters to me didn’t feel fleshed out enough for me to like them. It’s a shame because I could of loved this book if it was written differently
Roxie and Jada are a total mismash of supernatural powers. We should be glad they are on the side of good. This tale is filled with a supernatural conspiracy filled with those hungry for power and not too fussy about how they get it and the I.S.E.A agents sent to stop them. This is an exciting procedural that has you wondering if the end is near. I enjoyed this but would have loved to know this was a spin-off before reading this as they kept referring back to things we haven’t read.
This is an odd, quirky, strange little read filled with giant space bunnies that poop eggs???? Yes. That's what I said. I wanted to like this book simply because the concept was so different and strange. I thought I would enjoy a break from traditional fantasy but really I don't think I was prepared for this book at all. In any shape or form. It was very, very different and odd. I don't regret reading it but I would not willingly read it again.
I think I was put off the idea of space bunnies from the start. The story was interesting and there was some good bits but I felt lost at times as too much seemed to be happening and I kept loosing focus. This has the potential to be a great series if it slowed down a bit and had a bit more consistency.

Fur, Fangs & Full-On Chaos—And I Loved Every Second! Wings and Fangs is a wild, witty, wolf-powered joyride that had me grinning, gasping, and absolutely glued to the page.
The first in a new series, Wings and Fangs promises to be just as exciting and engaging as Deschamps' earlier works.
I felt right at home as I encountered characters that I first met in Eastside Hedge Witch (Midlife Supernaturals). Roxy and Jada are stepsisters and also work partners in the I.S.E.A. (International Supernatural Enforcement Agency), and they’ve been tasked by the agency's Director with discovering who or what is behind the brutal murders of several wolf shifters.
This is a tale full of fascinating and diverse characters, magic, complicated relationships, the power of believing, romance, and so much more, It will leave you panting for more of the characters, their relationships, and more of the stories that make up the magical world of gods, angelics, magical folk, and mortals.
Highly recommended for those among us who can’t get enough of this stuff.
