A Dark Shadow's Kill This book keeps Jim close to his home in Clovis, New Mexico. Jim’s peaceful morning is disrupted by Jessica Perez, a teenager, who arrives at his house unannounced, asking for his help in locating her missing mother. Jim reluctantly agrees to help, while hoping the police will ask him to stay out of their investigation. The police tell Jim their investigation has hit a dead end and suggest he take a rookie deputy out to the Jessica’s home to see if they can come up with any new ideas. While they are talking to the daughter at her home near Melrose, NM, the young deputy gets a call that sends Jim and the deputy to a remote location where a woman’s body has been found. The investigating takes a new turn and more murder victims start turning up. Information is slowly developed indicating one or more killers are looking for something and killing anyone in their way. Jim and the authorities soon realize that the killers will not leave any stone left unturned, and Jessica may be that last stone.

A Dark Shadow’s Kill is the eleventh book in the Jim West mystery/thriller series.
