The Inheritance Far From Home

Rate this book
After 25 years of marriage, Barbie Stopford thought she knew everything about her husband. Turns out, Eddie saved his biggest secret for after he died.

When a dusty legal document reveals he left her a hidden estate in Bakewell, England, Barbie does something that shocks everyone, including She books two last-minute tickets and drags her reluctant daughter across the Atlantic.

Florence isn't thrilled—but after a summer she’d rather forget, a spontaneous trip to a storybook English village might be exactly what she needs.

The estate is grand. The locals claim it’s haunted. And the quiet groundskeeper seems to know more about Eddie’s past than Barbie ever did.

As the women uncover clues tucked between cozy garden paths and pints at the village pub, they begin to piece together a version of Eddie neither of them expected. And when Florence finds herself drawn to the groundskeeper’s son (who’s as kind as he is charming), it's a refreshing change from the life she's been pretending to live.

In this strange place, far from home, they both start to wonder if this detour was part of the healing all along.

Some inheritances come with strings attached. This one comes with buried secrets, uncomfortable truths, and the chance to finally stop running from their grief.

This is Book 2 in a brand-new, heartfelt, clean and wholesome series. Scroll up to begin reading today!

Maybe the castle is haunted?!

This is part II of VI in quite an interesting tale. We are left with the question of whether or not there is a ghost in Barbie and her daughter Florence's inherited property.

Florence is still grieving over her father that died a year ago and is angry with her mom for being so emotionally absent when she needed her. So what do you do when you get into an argument with your mom and are upset about your late father dying too young? You go to the pub down the way and drink.

So Florence went to the pub after the tiff to meet with the castle's groundskeeper's son she finds very attractive and she drinks a lot. He walks her home and just as he's centimeters from her lips preparing for a kiss, her mom throws the door open overly excited about seeing a very familiar ghost.

Florence drank spirits and Barbie saw a spirit.
The story continues in Book 3.
This series is very reminiscent of Stephanie Bond's books which I've loved all 3 of her series I've read. If June Woods writes any of her other series like this one, I'm excited to start some of those soon!

Fun book and I like that Florence has met a handsome Irishman, but if these start getting all paranormal, I’m out.

Note: Started reading book 3 and it started in with talking about ghosts and trying to contact them with an Ouija board, so I’m done and won’t read anymore of this series.

The Inheritance

This is moving along pretty good, They have made it to their inheritance, checking it out, don’t really understand why her husband never said anything about his past.

Each chapter is a Book?

It’s irritating to have to talk my kindle into down loading another book after what should be a chapter. I will avoid this writer in the future even though I’m enjoying the books.

odd for a novel

Odd this is in short story form for 6 books although each book is enough that it sends you to the next.

Book

Good so far. Feels as if it should have been a single book instead of multiple books to tell the story.

Like why put this story in 6 separate books! They are only 1 hour to read, make it 1 book! Stupid!

I feel like this series of six short books could have just been one normal length novel, but enjoying it nonetheless.
