Nicholas Stonehaven is the devil.

The man was supposed to remain a stranger. A fond memory of a night I’ll never forget. Instead, I’m mortified to learn that my dirty little secret is now the new owner of the New York Monarchs, making him my boss. I tell myself I can handle this new development. I didn’t become the first female general manager in Major League Baseball without knowing how to handle a curveball. I make trades and close deals better than any other GM in the league. But when the arrogant billionaire offers me a contract I can’t refuse, it seems like I’ve earned myself another fancy, although temporary title: wife.

Luisa Álvarez is heaven sent.

When she’s not calling me Lucifer, that is. I can be a lot to handle. Hell, I use that to my advantage in the boardroom. But my experience as the CEO of a media enterprise did me no good when I inherited a professional baseball team from my estranged grandfather. I would have sold it off immediately, but even from six feet under, the old man held something over my head, and I couldn’t let it slip through my fingers. That’s how I found myself married to my Angel. She may be hung up on the fact that we made a deal and signed on the dotted line. But there is nothing fake about the way I feel for her or how she comes alive under my touch. We agreed to a fair trade, but now it’s time to renegotiate. Because when it comes to my wife, I never vowed to play fair.

yet another book that fell victim to the overuse of nicknames...

something about this authors trope post for this book made it a top priority for me to read. this is my fist book by millie perez and i actually thought it was really cute. random kindle unlimited sports romances always remind me of my roots so i appreciated that !!

luisa and nick hookup to start this book and then we realize that nick is her boss. uh oh. personally hookups aren't the my favorite way to kick things off, i like a it more tension but the workplace drama added that. the pacing of the relationship just really threw me off. they were flirting but they didn't like each other but they're getting married??? it was just a lot and then after halfway they basically just spoke in sexual innuendos. thats all fine and dandy but i would've liked the dialogue to be a bit better. the two of them have like one real conversation and they decide they're in love for real and must get remarried.

this love story ended up falling to the middle for me. there were just so many unnatural conversations happening, people don't talk the way they do. it all felt very much like a book and i was uncomfy, idk if that makes sense like i know it sounds dumb but i was just so aware of the fake marriage. obviously i have been pulled into this friend group and i wanna see my girl daisy get her happy ending... see y'all in 2026!

FYI - this has been added to the 2025 top reads list, alongside the first book in the series, Strikeout!

Once again, I loved everything about this book. Nick and Luisa were explosive together. The set up of their connection and how they met set the course for the rest of their interactions, not only as boss/employee, but as husband/wife in their marriage of convenience. Nick and Luisa complemented each other in a way that had you rooting for them from the moment they first interacted. Nick has every reason to be wary of love, and Luisa has convinced herself that she doesn't need a man, especially Nick, to be fulfilled. And she's correct - while she doesn't NEED Nick, she definitely wanted him and Nick stopped at nothing to make sure she knew he was always a safe place to land. What made this more romantic was even when they weren't on the best terms, they supported each other silently, with the author making it clear that they were in love before they admitted to themselves.

This author’s writing is great, and I love how she told their story. I couldn't put the book down, and I'm so glad I picked it up immediately after Strikeout. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

Perez’s writing continues to be addictive and engaging . I can see a lot of people enjoying this but I prefer Strikeout, the first book in the series . For all of it’s silliness there was an emotional resonance that I didn’t quite feel here . There were many sweet moments of vulnerability but I felt like I was held at arms length from Luisa and Nick . Their chemistry was fun and flirty but got corny at times with the angel , devil metaphors but it was apart of the charm in a way .

Could’ve gone without the self-made billionaire narrative and the more uncomfortable power dynamics present (He’s her boss and a billionaire but its a fantasy and guaranteed HEA yada yada yada )

I understand that author’s — especially in this economy — have to be explicit when hinting future couple pairings and books but GOD, do I have to be beat over the bloody head every time said pairing so much as breathe next to each other? . I’m actually excited to learn more about Daisy and Luke . There’s an interesting set-up but , and I said this in my Strikeout review Perez’s hints are heavy handed to the point of distraction

In conclusion , Fair trade was a funny , steamy , sweet story that I liked !

i really wasn't expecting to love luisa and nick this much because isabella and mateo were really good but oh my luisa and nick truly stole my heart since the first page and right now are my faves of the series (tho anything can change because i might relate to daisy a little bit more) but this one was so good im still so giggling and kicking my feet in the air everything i think about them or their scenes and their moments cute moments or even sexy moments, everything was so good and nick not having a family then luisa's family became his family and he also got love and people who cared for him deeply obviously including luisa then luisa finally found the perfect match, not only nick worships the floor she walks but also challenges her and respects her and makes her want to work harder and idk i love the way nick just was there when luisa needed and really gave her the hype she truly deserves because the other men they work with are pieces of shits oh well nothing new so!! overall it was amazing and so hot, the banter was out of this world and the spice?? uhhh was definitely spicing eheh just one thing i wish we could "see" more in the book is the friendships, i needed more scenes between daisy and luisa and isabella or even nick with the guys or more of the team with them too idk more friendships scenes at least personally i love seeing the group of friends all together more than two or three times in the books that kinda follows a group of friends still good still fantastic and really addictive and sometimes sad and really emotional but also so damn hot sometimes i needed to stop couldn't stop giggling eheh but yeah just a little more friendships scenes! also the little sneak peaks of daisy and luke i see it and im totally into it and i need their book now thank youu!! like right now please!
luisa and nick were wonderful and i love them so much truly had the best time of my life reading their story, i need a nick stonehaven in my life and i might not relate to luisa that much but also need her as my best friend, she's also so fearless and badass and girl boss love her so so much truly!! if you haven't read this series i seriously don't know what you're waiting for, promise it's THAT good and you don't want to stop reading!!

I would give it 3 stars personally because I would never have picked this up knowing it read more like a workplace romance, but that’s not the authors fault so I give it 4! Honestly the tension was good, the chemistry was great, and I love the way we see how full Nick becomes when he feels embraced by Dominican women and men due to his newfound romance! The fmc is Dominicana and the fmc is Black and Dominican and has a British accent (which wouldn’t have clicked if I didn’t read the audiobook). Very cute and fun story! I want more! I still like book 1 in this series more because it wasn’t too focused on their work life (I don’t want to read about work after working all day ykno), but I did like the main characters a lot more in this one! Hopefully we continue to see more Latine romances (Latine x Latine) from this authors bc the community has too many white IR romances already and frankly I’m sick of them.

Spicy AF w/ banter for days!

Millie Perez just keeps getting better and I flew through this books soooo fast!! Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, one night stand, workplace, dual POV marriage of convenience greatness!!

I loved how badass Luisa was. She took no shit from anyone. And Nick was able to match her toe to toe! There was fantastic PCOS and therapy rep and now I can’t wait for Daisy’s story!

Highly recommended for fans of Tessa Bailey or Meghan Quinn!! Fair trade had short chapters, great secondary characters and loads of emotional depth. Plus she was SPICY AF and I was so here for it!! Gimme more Millie!!

Fair Trade had me giggling, kicking my feet, and punching pillows on my couch. I love a down bad man and Nick was as down as he could get. And what’s the one thing I love more than a down bad man? A strong, take no prisoners FMC! Luisa is a QUEEN and Nick knows it. Their relationship is complex and I love their chemistry and banter.

This story had a little bit of everything. Girl bosses, friendship, found family, marriage of convenience, baseball and workplace dalliances !!!! Strikeout was one of my favorite reads of the year last year, and Fair Trade left me foaming out the mouth for book two.

Also, let’s have a round of applause for the representation in here. I’m a 30 year old woman, and I cried because the characters were eating tostones and playing dominoes. Representation MATTERS! Based a study done in 2023, 30% of MLB players are of latinex descent. That is more than a quarter of the ENTIRE league and yet, the amount of baseball romances that center these characters are minuscule. As a boricua, we do not play about our baseball teams and it feels so beautiful to be able to read a romance that reflects our cultural experiences with the game.

I loved this story and this series is bringing me so much joy.

Thank you to Millie Perez for an advanced reader copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

ARC REVIEW:
Thank you so much to Millie Perez for the E-ARC of Fair Trade. Which releases on AUGUST 14th!

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

From the Dedication I knewww I just knew this would be sweet but SO impactful. This was a highly anticipated read for me that exceeded all expectations. I was giddy, laughing out loud, my jaw hit the floor, screaming YOU GO GIRL! let me tell you a time was had!

In case anything was left to the imagination Luisa is a BOSS. Her spit fire ways aren’t just game they’re BUSINESS. While Nick Stonehaven knows just how to HANDLE business and he DOES. 🖊️ “Don’t start something you can’t finish.” TENSION 💥💥

I thought I loved a good text exchange in books Millie has categorically changed my mind EMAILS are elite in convo banter & the not safe for work version 🥵 these two are literally yearning for each other in close proximity work space and it’s coming out as banter and tension that built up to a vision like the 90s RomCom I love to binge watch. I would watch Nick & Luisa on repeat.📺

The mentions of all my favorite characters from book one and getting more snippets of their story Millie was just hitting it out of the park.🏟️

i had really high hopes that i would love this book and it was cute but unfortunately i didn’t love it. after reading millie’s 2 books in this series i don’t think im a fan of her writing style. the writing feels clunky and sometimes the characters sound so formal when they’re otherwise speaking in a causal tone. the use of angel and devil as nicknames annoyed me to no end. at 50% i started reading as fast as i could to just get it over with. i loved the representation and luisa was a fierce fmc but overall the romance felt very lackluster.

i love daisy and will be reading her book when it comes out.

Millie, Millie, Millie you have done it again! I am absolutely in love with this book! My god I love me a strong, capable and absolute powerhouse of a woman and that’s exactly who Luisa is. She is who little girls around the world should aspire to be. And they there’s Nick. Masculinity is so sexy when it’s not toxic. He was down BAD for her and was willing to do anything and everything to win her over. He supported his woman’s dreams and helped her reach even higher. We need more Nicks in this world! 😫😮‍💨✨

This was a very cute and fun book to read.
Definitely enjoyed both Luisa and Nick oh and how can i forget Delilah (their dog). They made such an amazing family.

I’m kinda falling hard for Nick myself ngl, he’s an amazing husband, caring, sweet and empowering.

Their marriage (and before) had everything, Banter, coziness, heartfelt moments and cuddles.
The bond Nick made with Luisa’s family was so wholesome, considering he lost his mom at a young age and had a absentee father.

And my God were they HOT! 🫣

“I’m lactose intolerant. As Luisa predicted, I usually take my coffee black.
But I’ll deal with the repercussions, because from now on, I’ll take my coffee with a dash of milk.
Just how my wife makes it.”

“Now let’s hurry along. I have plans to sleep with my new boss tonight. Can’t wait to see what all the fuss is about.”

“But most importantly, I’m asking for forever and a day. This lifetime and the next. Way past the moment we’re dearly departed. Because my body may have finite time here on this earth, but my soul seeks nothing less than eternity with yours.”

If you love sassy, cheeky banter and characters who know how to spar verbally and emotionally, this book absolutely delivers.

Nick and Luisa? Perfection. Their chemistry crackles from the first page, and the push-and-pull between them is ridiculously fun to read. Luisa is sharp, capable, and unapologetically ambitious, and watching her hold her own as the first female GM in Major League Baseball was incredibly satisfying.

And Nick Stonehaven… listen. Nick Stonehaven is A MAN. Arrogant billionaire energy done right – confident, commanding, but with just enough vulnerability beneath the devilish exterior to make him irresistible. His dynamic with Luisa is peak fake-marriage goodness, and the way their “deal” slowly turns into something very real had me hooked.

I’ve really loved this series so far, and Fair Trade continues that streak with strong characters, great banter, and plenty of swoony moments. I’m excited to dive into Daisy’s story next – if this book is any indication, it’s going to be worth the wait.

I don’t know how she does it but Millie Perez’s writing is addicting - she grabs your attention from the very first page!

Billionaire romances are like catnip for me because they feel like a fantasy come true. The banter, the spice, the email love notes - I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of Fair Trade!

Loved both the MC’s - Luisa with her girl boss energy and Nick with his perfect book boyfriend vibes! I also appreciated the PCOS rep.

Highly recommend especially if you enjoy these tropes:

⚾️ Marriage of Convenience
⚾️ Workplace romance
⚾️ One night stand

Can’t wait for my preordered physical copy to arrive and for the next book in the series!

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an eARC. All opinions are my own.

Now how do I find a hot billionaire who will write me love notes?! 😆

I fear no one hates a ‘romantic gesture in front of thousands/millions of people’ like me

This has two epilogues, both are disappointing, and the 2nd one is just a set up for the next book…

I really thought that this would have a bonus… it really was just a thought

I needed way more spanish.

It was kinda hard to get past the first couple of chapters but then this run real smoothly.

“Call me sir again and see what happens.”

Wished I liked this more. The references to Dominican culture (especially Luisa's mom and the tias) warmed my heart, and I loved how easy this is to read, but I needed more stakes.

Luisa & Nick are everything I love: confident, attractive, emotionally mature, Black and Brown, rich and in love.
I wanna be Luisa so baddd. She's in my top 2 of favorite FMC. Love her for not putting up with nonsense and for standing her ground 100% of the time. Nick is the perfect man for her and for us too!
I recommend this if you're looking to get lost into a meaningful romance. 💘
Thank you Millie Perez for sharing your wonderful writing! Can't wait for book 3!
