[Miss Read A lot]

Y’all make these women so stupid it is painful. They do not think.

Why would Ry willingly deliver herself to Boston after learning he set up and tried to kill his own son? If she married him to save her father and clear his debt, yet he still forced her dad to pay him anyway, that should’ve told her everything she needed to know. He never intended to keep his word. So why would she believe going to him would suddenly change anything? The man literally tried to kill his own child. If he said he was going to kill his kids, why would she think turning herself in would stop him? Her decision made absolutely no sense. Given how spineless she acted, I almost wished he had finished her because I cannot stand weak FMCs.

What made it even worse was Boston’s character. The author built him up as this ruthless, heartless monster, but then suddenly he kept showing Ry mercy. According to his character, he should have killed her when she came to him like a dummy. He had no reason to keep her alive. If you’re going to create an evil villain, commit to the evil villain. Don’t spend the whole book telling me how ruthless he is, then have him go soft every time Ry is in front of him because the plot needs her alive. Nothing about his actions matched the character that was built. Either make him the monster you introduced or give him a different character arc because this version didn’t make sense.

Then Brooke telling the man she was dating all her business with Zeke was ridiculous. Who does that?

I knew I was going to DNF the moment Ry willingly walked into danger like a fool, but I tried to stick it out. I made it to page 82 out of 226 and finally tapped out. Absolutely not. This book was bad. I read Xan and Xay’s books first and only picked this one up because I wanted Zeke’s story. I no longer care. I’m good.

This was a good conclusion to this duology. Can I just say that Zeke was the star of the show for me this book. He made me audibly LOL through the whole thing. Despite his humor though, he stood ten toes down when it came to Killa & Brooke! I do think he needed to put in just a little bit more work to win Brooke back, but we knew (and they knew) that they were always endgame.

The villain storyline from book 1 wrapped up fairly early in the story, which made me a little nervous for what more was to come. And my goodness did the shenanigans continue and new villains emerged!!! Ryleigh, bless her heart, had the survival instincts of an ant and pissed me off with her lack of critical thinking and her selfishness once everything climaxed, reminding me that she was in her early 20s.

Overall though, this was a good story about found family and having a love that can withstand anything. I really enjoyed this duology overall and I’m glad I finished it. It kept me engaged from beginning to end.

I didn't mention it in the first review but the way this author writes her MMC's- I love me a cocky, rich 🥷🏽!

Also, the way she interconnects her "world" creates such an amazing reader experience ESPECIALLY if you follow her work.


Again, highly recommend this series and this author- no read has disappointed me yet!

Love a happy Ending!!!

I love a happy ending, and I’m so glad Zeke finally got it together and that Brooke was open to giving him a real chance. Honestly, for a while I wanted her with someone else because he was doing the absolute most and really playing with her feelings. King, on the other hand, was always solid, even while carrying the weight with his father and I’m glad he handled him accordingly. It definitely took a toll on him mentally, but he still pushed through. I loved the mix of drama and love in this book. It was definitely a great conclusion to part one!

I really enjoyed this book. This story was complete with drama but still focused on the development of the relationships within it! So their respective love stories made sense! Well done to Nek because each book was about 200 pages long and she was able to give us a story that made sense and had depth. Loved Xander and Xavier’s cameos (I’d actually read their books first - The plug or something like that). Boston was a sorry excuse for a man and father, Killer Kam was really that guy! Zeke was a comedian but loyal and solid!

A Family That Stays Together

Boston thought it was a game and he found out just how quickly you can lose!!!…
Ryleigh made out like a bandit and her parents got back all their money and much more along with their peace!!!…
Kam didn’t want the money, Brooke was upset that she was an after thought & Ryleigh said, just because yall daffy thought he was shattting on yall, yall bet to enjoy all his money!!!…

Okay!

I’ve read almost every book written by Nek. All of them are intertwined well with full characters. This story was adorable to me. I enjoyed the evolving storyline with both books flowing from beginning to end. The towns and created with a familiarity to them but I felt like I could meet the characters in real life. I enjoyed reading the story of Zeke and Brooke with King and Ry as the main characters.

Ry should have told King and Brook exactly what their no good father said about them.

The father was truly evil and at the end I know Brook was hurt to know the man she loved didn't give a pluck about her.

Forever Mine!

If he ain’t playing bout me like Kam aka King I don’t want him. Ry loves hard and wanted to protect everybody she loved and walked into what turned up being the biggest blessing of her lifetime in more ways than one. I was so locked in these characters turned me every which way but loose and I’m happy everybody got what and who they deserved. Loved this series.

I’m happy I decided to join the Goodreads challenge. I’ve read almost every book in Nek’s catalog. I really love how intertwined the characters are. I’ll be reading a book and I’m like ok ok I see you Halo lol. I can not stand no sad book so I was happy with the way things balanced out. King and Ry were absolutely adorable. I loved their chemistry and how she wanted to live in that man skin. Brooke and Zeke were absolutely nuts but I loved their dynamic.
