For patients suffering from chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, or Lyme disease, life can be extremely frustrating. Doctor visits that never yield a clear diagnosis, drug therapy that leaves you feeling weak and exhausted and medical bills that you can never seem to pay off.
Having struggled with fibromyalgia and Lyme disease himself, Dr. Rawls is a physician who understands how to overcome these complex disorders. After defining a path using natural healing to restore his own health, he has dedicated his life to helping others do the same.
If you have suffered long enough and are ready to embark on the path of natural healing, the search is over. Follow the lead and guidance of a physician who has been there!
I'd give this book a 3.5 if I could. It has a lot of good base info on supplements, diet changes, and exercise to help improve symptoms of CFS & Fibromyalgia. On info aline I'd give it a 5,but the writing style and book layout made me feel that he was often repeating the same info on different supplements in multiple sections of the book. I also would have liked to have seen more documentation on the science behind the supplements & treatments.
I was a little disappointed when I read this, because I'd been expecting something more like a memoir. However, if what you're looking for is a set of practical tips for improving your health and supporting your body to improve its condition, then this book does a great job. Particularly because it's based on research and experience from an actual doctor, it felt a bit more trustworthy than some other advice you can come across. The sections on supplements were pretty overwhelming though - there are a huge number listed, and trying to figure out which ones might be worth trying - and in what combinations - is pretty daunting.
I was given a copy of this book via the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book is absolutely fascinating! I have learned many new aspects about fibromyalgia that I did not know before hand, one being Lyme. I had wondered about it, especially living in Connecticut, and this book has filled in a lot of the gaps that I had come across with reading clinical trials about Lyme.
I've read many, many books, journals, and news articles about fibromyalgia, but I must say that this book is one of the best ones I've come across in a long while. The language is clear and easy to read. There are medical terms, but they are explained in simple language which makes it easy on even the fibro-fogged reader.
I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering from this disease.
So, this book is interesting but also a bit depressing and occasionally annoying. The author is clearly convinced that herbal supplements are the answer and also that a very strict nutritional regime is a must. I would have liked more citations to actual scientific research and less pushing of supplements, but it was interesting and informative otherwise.
