I love a good zombie flick/apocalyptic read

And I love a good dark romance

So when I saw this sitting pretty at a recent book event it was a no brainer.

If you love Walking Dead then this is for you!

Overall it's a fun read and had a real good premise. I missed the dark romance (lil spicy? Yes. Dark? No).

Honestly though, the approach to the premise felt junivile. Without spoilers, the FMC had x2 huge things happen to her and both things was completely glossed over/0 reaction. Fully nonchalant. Completely unrealistic even coming from the most calmest zodiac.

The first chapter gave me the ick and "ocean eyes" really didn't do it for me. Maybe for others?
I just kept singing Billie Eilish and thinking of all the noughties rom-coms, that were low key cringe af but for some reason we all were glued to them.

I did enjoy the zombie and the main action points! The names for the dead were brilliant and I enjoyed the side characters too. Kates a gem!

Overall, not sure how I'm feeling but loved the opportunity to delve into this world.

Content warnings: violence, coarse language, abduction, verbal and emotional domestic violence, and open-door intimacy.

I want to thank the author (Veronica Talliss) and BookFunnel for an ARC copy of this book.

If you liked the “Walking Dead” series, you would love this book! The main character (Violet) is a hardworking mother and girlfriend to a man who does not treat her well. Things start to go south quickly in the first few chapters and Violet loses a lot of people that she loves. She must learn how to survive without getting a chance to grieve. She is reunited with people from her past and continues to lose those that are close to her. It is a fast-paced book with some bends in the road that you don’t quite see coming until they are screaming in your face.

While I did enjoy the book, I ultimately chose to give it a three-star rating. The e-book had some formatting errors and there were a few scenes that were confusing to me. Veronica was very receptive to my feedback and was nice to chat with. The overall story was fun to read, the characters were enjoyable, and I was able to picture the setting as the book progressed.

I normally don’t gravitate towards dark romance but beyond the dead is something I’ve never seen before! The zombie apocalypse aspect was so good and the devotion of Ryder for Violet was 🥵🥵 I’ll 1000% recommend this book to others! Also I gave it to my grandma to read and she loved that the first paragraph had the word cock in it 🤣🤣 1000/10 !

I'm an apocalypse/zombie loving girl and this book ate! Literally 😏
From the first page I was completely hooked. The author had no mercy and it kept me on my toes the entire time. The heat between Ryder and Violet was absolutely scorching and my basement was nearly flooded🥵 This book had its flaws but vibes don't care about that! I laughed out loud so many times and even during inappropriate situations. Don't take life too seriously and read this violent, sexy, and funny book.

4.6 🫀🫶🏻

I absolutely ate this book up and stayed up way too late reading it! I loved how fast paced it was, and the writing style made me feel the anxiety of the world crumpling around them. Loveddd how the book took place in Alberta and BC, because it was so easy to picture it all and feel like you're right there in the story! I Also LOVE Violet and Ryder so much likee 😭 their banter and flirting was soo fun and the spicy scenes were ❤️‍🔥🥵

I must also add that I really couldn't figure out the ending, and when a book is constantly leaving me wanting more and guessing, consider me obsessed! Every time I thought I knew what was about to happen, I was SO wrong!!

Veronica wrote an absolutely amazing book and I will read anything she writes!! ❤️‍🔥

A Zombie Apocalypse Dark Romance that's set in Canada? Yes, please!

Violet is such a strong, badass, fmc, and don't even get me started on Ryder, his possessive protectiveness was delicious! I was obsessed with their unwavering dedication to one another, despite facing the literal end of the world.

"𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶"

"𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯, 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨."

Ryder and Violet's chemistry was so well written and meshed with the Apocalyptic plot perfectly. Beyond The Dead was my very first Arc read and it didn't disappoint one bit. Incredible job, Veronica Talliss!

This book will have you gripping your seat the whole time! Just when you thought you knew what was coming next, a curve ball is thrown at you! This is not a “everything good happens to your favourite character” kind of book. If you like the gory, zombie type of stuff then this is the book for you! I thought it was a great read, different from what I normally read!

While it’s her first book, there are some formatting and grammatical errors, it’s not a bad book, it’s still entertaining to read and such, I just find some details in the book confusing. It supposedly takes place over a period of 10-14 days, and the setting she tries to portray is everything is dusty, covered in grime, rusty surgical tools, yellowed IV bags, and such, are unrealistic things to be present. Some scenes are confusing as well, for example, Ryder places her head down while she’s sleeping, and then the very next second, she’s bumping shoulders with him? Some timelines don’t quite make sense either. I think she tried to cram in a bit too much action in a very short period of time. Hence the 2/5 rating I gave her.

🌶️🌶️

Violet along with her father Arthur are forced to survive as the world is ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. Just when she is about to give up all hope, someone she believed was long gone shows up to save the day.

This book is exactly what I expect from a zombie apocalypse things are constantly changing and it comes at you fast, so many chapters blew my wig straight off. The love story is super cute and just the right amount of spice, don’t worry it’s between two humans 🤣 The series continues Fall 2026, so excited to read the novella Kate.

Absolutely loved this!!! The zombie apocalypse setting was so vividly written. The scenery, the tension, the emotion, everything pulled me right in from the very beginning. I never knew what was going to happen next, and the writing between the main characters was beautiful and full of feeling. Even the side characters stood out and added so much depth. Haunting, emotional, and completely unforgettable

Picked this up at a local market and said "okay sure, I'll give it a try", had no idea it was really going to be that good!! Loved this super fast-paced read! Multiple twists and tons of action. If you like the walking dead, you'll love this.
Reading about locations in Alberta and BC had me absolutely hooked. So nice to have a local read! She hit all the other things I love too with character art, sprayed edges (which she did herself), all the fun extras!
The story was an absolute 5⭐ for me, I looked forward to what was coming next for them and was surprised several times! Her twists kept me wanting more way past my bedtime. Poooossibly could have used a touch more editing on the formatting but the story was so so good!
Really looking forward to Kate's novella!

I saw this book at my local indie bookstore and I instantly said I NEED IT.. ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, IM IN!!! Zombies plus a fiery romance, this book was my top 5 star read of the year!!
Can't forget to add the medical side, Violet is a paramedic.. being a nurse myself, I was hooked from the very first page and I ate it up! Not a single chapter was boring, lots of twists and turns plus tons on yearning between Violet and Ryder!
This book was a complete chefs kiss!

I will forever and ever recommend it to everyone! ❤️
