From the moment I met Skylar, I knew she was special. We started as friends, but my feelings for her only grew stronger with each passing day. I pined over her for years, hoping that one day she would see me as more than just a friend. But no matter how hard I tried, she kept pushing me away. I couldn't understand why she was so determined to keep me at arm's length. Was it fear? Was it something from her past? The questions haunted me, but I never gave up hope. I believed that if I could just show her how much I cared, she would finally let me in. But was it enough for her to see me?
Skylar
From the moment I met Corbin, I knew there was something special about him. His kindness, his charm, and his unwavering support made my heart flutter. I had a crush on him ever since that night, but no matter how much I wanted to let him in, my mind wouldn't allow it. The fear of being hurt, the scars from my past, kept me from opening up to him completely. It was both comforting and terrifying to have someone care so deeply. But I couldn't shake the feeling that if he knew the truth about my past, he would leave like everyone else.
What an emotional rollercoaster! This book dives deep into depression and mental health, and it handles those themes with so much care and honesty. It’s heartbreaking at times, but also incredibly hopeful, showing how love and understanding can help heal even the deepest scars.
The relationship between Corbin and Skylar was beautifully done. I loved how protective he was over her, not in an overbearing way, but in that gentle, I’ve got you kind of way. He listened, he understood, and he was so incredibly thoughtful. Their connection felt real and earned, and it made every emotional moment hit even harder.
And yes, the spice? Definitely spicy 🌶️🔥 but full of emotion too. The balance between vulnerability and heat was spot on.
Corbin completely stole my heart, he is a genuine cowboy with depth, patience, and quiet strength. This story has it all: emotion, healing, passion, and heart. It’ll make you laugh, cry, and probably fall a little bit in love yourself. 🤠💛

Skylar’s storyline was written so well, it was so relatable and refreshing to see how depression/grief/ptsd can affect someone but you can still be loved. I found Skylars story broke my heart, all I wanted to do was give her the biggest hug.
Corbin, well he is just the most amazing book boyfriend. He was kind, patience and loving. Even though Corbin had gone through dark times, Skylar was his light and everyone knew how much he loved her.
The chemistry and love between Skylar & Corbin was so cute, the friendship, the support. The found family aspect.
Favourite line: ‘Love doesn’t sound like confessions- it sounded like steady breathing and two heartbeats finding rhythm’
If you like friends to lovers, small town romance, found family. Mental Health Rep (read the triggers) this book is for you!
Another great story line, in principle, in this second book of the Rockwell Ranch series, the kindle version however was full of grammar issues, factual issues and editing notes that hadn’t been deleted. There was a little less waffling in this book but still important things to the story were missed or skimmed over and not enough attention given to other parts. It’s is such a shame as it gets frustrating when reading it and with a little more detail could be a great book
This series is a game changer! Fresh, heart warming, raw, real. I love the way the story continues in the second book without all the unnecessary wordy reminders of what occurred in the first book; a true sequel. I'm looking forward to the third!
