When fighting each other turns into fighting temptation. A seductive game of cat and mouse. And the fantasy is just too thrilling to resist.
India
Reuben James has been the bane of my existence ever since I met him. It’s not just that he’s careless, arrogant and selfish. He’s also my brother’s literal enemy. And when a road trip with him becomes my only option, I expect it to be painful, awkward and tense. Exhilarating. Addictive. Freeing. That’s what it ends up being. That’s what he ends up being. Somehow with Reuben, I’m finally able to be the India I’ve had to suppress for a long time. And it becomes harder to stay away when we indulge in our desires so perfectly together. But when the trip is over and reality comes calling, can I merge the two lives together?
Reuben
I wanted a road trip with myself. Somehow, I get stuck having to take India Grey with me. She hates me just as much as her brother does. He’s the only enemy I have. I don’t want anything to do with her or her family. Until I do. Because somehow India becomes a necessity for me. Being with her heals parts of me I didn’t even know were broken. She unlocks fantasies within me I didn’t even know I had. And suddenly my every waking breath is spent craving more with her. I can’t get enough. But is more even possible when her whole family hates me?
Permanent Fantasy is a full-length enemies to lovers, billionaire steamy romance with a HEA. Please check out the content warnings before you read.
Neenah Nakitah is a published author of romance novels that weave themselves into the hearts of her readers with sparks, spice, spirit and the guarantee of a beautiful Happy Ever After. Based in London, when she’s not writing, Neenah can be found reading, complaining about the weather in London and subsequently planning her next holiday, re-watching a series for the 1000th time, or she may simply be daydreaming. She does that a lot.
Permanent Fantasy is the second book in the Billionaire Behaviour series, a steamy romance novel by Neenah Nakitah. This story focuses on India, a woman on the run from a past abusive relationship, and Reuben, her brother's sworn enemy. When an unexpected road trip forces them together, their initial animosity gives way to an undeniable, simmering tension. The book follows their journey as they navigate their forced proximity, a fake engagement, and the healing that comes from an unexpected connection. India, who had to suppress her true self, finds a liberating freedom with the infuriatingly charming Reuben. The narrative is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers tale that promises a thrilling cat-and-mouse game and a happily ever after.
The main characters, India and Reuben, are a great example of the enemies-to-lovers trope. Their dynamic is full of witty banter, heated glances, and a chemistry that is described as "addictive" and "irresistible." Reuben is a magnetic and cocky billionaire, while India is a fiery protagonist with a lot to unpack from her past. The book's narrative is a fast-paced journey filled with tension and unexpected turns. The authors masterfully use the "only one bed" and "forced proximity" tropes to heighten the sexual and emotional tension between the characters.
The plot is driven by a road trip that serves as a vehicle for the characters to reveal secrets and open their hearts. The themes of healing, second chances, and finding freedom are central to the story. While some readers noted minor plot holes, such as a passport issue and a difficult-to-follow timeline, the overall premise and character development were praised. The journey explores how being with Reuben allows India to be the person she had long suppressed, and how India helps Reuben heal from his own broken past.
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ The book is an explicit, steamy romance with intense sexual tension and spicy scenes.
I'm giving this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It's a good read with a lot of potential that will appeal to fans of enemies-to-lovers, forced proximity, and the "only one bed" trope. The chemistry between India and Reuben is magnetic, and their journey is full of heart and heat. While some minor editing and plot issues were noted in the ARC, the story's core is a compelling read that will keep you engaged.
My Rating System: 1⭐️: The book didn’t hold my interest and/or had significant issues that overshadowed any redeeming qualities for me, but generally not my cup of tea. Most likely did not finish the book. 2⭐️: The book didn’t quite resonate with me, and while my experience wasn’t remarkable, I did finish it. It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations. 3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others. 4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read the book again. Definitely recommendable. 5⭐️: Incredible writing that made me deeply connect with the characters. I was completely absorbed in the world and didn’t want it to end. This book stayed with me even when I wasn’t reading it. I'd gladly reread it and highly recommend it to everyone!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really wanted to love this book, but that was just not the case here. The story wasn't bad, and it had a lot of potential, but there were a lot of things that were left to be desired.
For starters, the formatting was not my preferred style. Instead of full indentations to start a paragraph, there was a single space. Perhaps it was just a formatting issue in general that will be fixed before release, but I don't know. Along with formatting issues, there were a lot of grammar and punctuation typos, such as erroneous quotation marks. Hopefully they will be fixed before release.
There were some large plot holes that I couldn't move past. At one point a character is texting another to say that they arrived, and in a later scene they are exchanging numbers like they had never texted before. Throughout the whole book I had a hard time following the timeline by the way certain scenes played out. For example, the two main characters ride for several hours (leaving early in the morning), stop at a hotel, nap, then it is difficult to tell if it's afternoon, evening, or the morning after.
Another issue I had with this book was the dialogue. A lot of it just didn't feel realistic. There were also "narrator thoughts/points of view" that just didn't really seem necessary.
Lastly, while the spicy scenes were spicy, some sessions didn't seem realistic in the way that the characters just openly did things in from of others in public places where it wouldn't necessarily be appropriate. I get that it's a fantasy book, but it bugged me.
I received an ARC and this is my voluntary review. Thank you!

This was my first read from Neenah Nakitah, and I absolutely loved it! I'm incredibly grateful to Book Sirens for the advanced reader copy of Permanent Fantasy. This sizzling, tension-filled romance was an absolute page-turner! I'd confidently rate this book a solid 4 stars.
I devoured Permanent Fantasy in one sitting. From the very first chapter, I was hooked by the delicious chaos of unresolved tension, biting banter, and the irresistible descent from enemies to something far more dangerous.
India's worst nightmare? Being trapped with Reuben, her brother's enemy. But fate, with its twisted sense of humor, throws them together. A friend's wedding leads to an unexpected road trip detour, leaving India stuck with him in a car, then a motel, and, you guessed it, with only one bed.
What follows is a masterclass in slow-burn romance, filled with sharp words, heated glances, and chemistry that practically crackles off the page. Reuben is infuriatingly cocky and maddeningly charming, and India gives as good as she gets. Their dynamic is magnetic; every touch, look, and argument is laced with an unspoken desire and undeniable heat.
Just when you think you know where the story is going, it takes unexpected turns. This road trip reveals more than just detours and motel stops—it's a journey where secrets are revealed and hearts are truly cracked open.
If you're a fan of forced proximity, the enemies-to-lovers trope, and the delicious tension of "only one bed" situations, this book is your next obsession!
A Note on Formatting Please note that the ARC I received had some formatting inconsistencies, such as single spaces instead of full paragraph indentations. For me, it was not an issue, but I wanted to advise. I do hope this is updated before publication.
First of all, a heartfelt thank you to author for the ARC. I’m so grateful I had the chance to read this sizzling, tension-filled romance ahead of release.
Permanent Fantasy was such an addictive, angst-laced read that I devoured it in one sitting. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, drawn into the delicious chaos of unresolved tension, biting banter, and that slow, irresistible descent from enemies to something far more dangerous.
Reuben is the last person India ever wanted to be trapped with. He’s her brother’s enemyx But fate has a twisted sense of humor, and when their friends’ wedding turns into an unexpected road trip detour, India finds herself stuck with him in a car… and then in a motel… and then…you guessed it, with only one bed.
What follows is a slow-burn filled with sharp words, heated glances, and the kind of chemistry that crackles off the page. Reuben is infuriating, cocky, and maddeningly charming. And India? She gives it right back to him. Their dynamic is magnetic, every touch, every look, every argument laced with something unspoken, something undeniably hot.
You think you know where the story is going, but you don’t. The road trip holds more than detours and motel stops. It’s where secrets are revealed, hearts are cracked open.
If you’re a fan of forced proximity, the enemies-to-lovers trope, and the delicious tension of “only one bed” situations, this book is your next obsession.
Tropes I adored: – Brother’s Enemy – Enemies to Lovers – Forced Proximity – Only One Bed
I would like to thank the author for the advanced copy of the book!
This was a fun read about a woman recently getting out of an abusive relationship and navigating the lasting trauma while accompanying her brother's business enemy on a 14-hour road trip. This book made me realize the stark differences between UK and US driving cultures - 2 weeks for 14 hours is crazy to me (granted, non-essential activities were glossed over, so the timeline was hard to keep track of).
Some plot aspects did not align throughout the book, such as the MMC taking a taxi to a club, then the characters take his car home. I also felt as if some elements of the explicit scenes were underdeveloped.
Outside of these aspects, I enjoyed reading about India and Reubens' adventure!
This book has potential. I really love the character development and the evolving dynamic between the leads. It’s clear the author put a lot of thought into how the relationship unfolds, and it shows. And how this also build the characters and thier values. There’s real emotional depth here.
I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the first book in the series. I wasn't expecting Reuben and India to fall for each other as hard as they did. I loved how India was able to take revenge against her ex boyfriend with the help of Reuben. India's ex boyfriend was clearly an A hole and he deserved everything negative that came his way.
Practically insta-love. Don’t get me wrong I love a good insta-love but it took more than half the book to get to the plot. How long is this road trip? When is the wedding?
