Y'all, I just finished reading this book, and let me tell you, Ivy Noir brought the heat! I grabbed my glass and settled in for a scorching read, and this book delivered exactly what I crave from a dedicated protective hero story. This is the first assignment for new paramedic Mia Fletcher in her small hometown of Aspenbrook, and she is determined to prove herself. Naturally, this immediately puts her in the path of firefighter Owen, and their chemistry is immediate and absolutely consuming.
What I Sipped & Savor
🥃 The Firehouse Family: I absolutely loved the setting. The firehouse wasn't just a workplace; it felt like a gritty, real, found family, complete with the smell of engine grease and smoke. The camaraderie among the crew—the tired, dirty, cheering guys—is what made the whole environment feel grounded, making the high-stakes calls feel real.
🥃 Practical Romance: Mia is a determined badass who earned her certification and is ready to serve, and I was here for her commitment. Owen understands that life isn't always diamonds and roses, and the final scene I witnessed (that proposal!) was everything. He drops to one knee with a dazzling diamond and a practical rubber band. That right there shows a hero who gets it. It’s the perfect blend of mushy romance and real-world respect for her job.

Mia, new certified medic, moved home to Aspenbrook Town she always felt like an outsider in. But she wanted to come home to your family. She walked into this fire house, actng like she owns it, even though looking for the captain to give her paperwork to. Owen not realizing that the Fletcher recruit he was to see is a female was a little surprised. He was really surprised at her attitude of I’m not taking any flack from you. He tried to treat her as a cadet to which she retarded I’m a certified medic get one of your rookies to do something. This attitude is driving him crazy. In his frustration he started having steamy dreams that included her. One night they find themselves alone in the fire house kitchen. There They both realize the attraction to each other and act on it. Owen not sure how to deal with being with one of his subordinates starts to push her away, which makes her doubt her whole life. Chris, another fire fighter tells Owen they all see it and the team says it’s fine they’re good with them together. At this point in time Mia has decided to resign but Owen says no I was an idiot can you give me another chance? A steamy relationship started with a fire will it be able to maintain its fire?.

It is amazing series Aspenbrook Protective Firefighters and amazing Book 6 to enjoy. Mia is newly graduated paramedic joining Aspenbrook Firefighters. With a rough start with her new boss Owen. Did she overreacted when trying to position herself there? And now she not only fight against him, but against her attraction to him. Do him do the same?
So well written short read - beautiful instalove romance, with well developed characters. You interest is captivated from the first page and keep you engaged while finished.

This is a good short read. It took a little over an hour to read. The interactions between the two was nerve wracking, laughing and smiling. Wondering what happens between them let's finish reading.

Such a super cute quick read. Mia and Owen fought against their feelings for each other until giving in to the immediate attraction. I’ve definitely enjoyed the people in Aspenbrook. Recommend reading all the books if you haven’t. Even though their stand alone the town’s people make them feel blended.
