When the people who just want to be left alone, are forced to fight.
Invasion day was known as the Reaping. Humanity didn't have a chance. With ancient artifacts, sentient AI and starships the fight was over before it even began.
Now humans are treated as savages and only the very few are able to survive the post-apocalyptic aftermath of what our world has become. Lucky for us one man has the skill set. Unlucky for us, he's less than sane.
Gideon Gunn is a man with past that has broken him while also preparing him for this very moment. Whether he likes it or not he'll be forced into this world of EMP pirates, underground preppers and the fight for humanity's very freedom.
If you enjoy character-driven novels, non-stop action and a good dose of adventure, you're in for a treat.
I'm Jonathan, a husband, father, and writer. I write because that's what I was born to do and I love doing it. Because of the support from awesome people like you, I get to do it full-time.
3,5 stars What if Dungeon Crawler Carl was written by Michael Bay? Fun and fast read, but lacks character, plot and world depth. Gideon is the standard macho guy with a secret heart of gold, has the emotional range of a sock, and reminds me a little of Deadpool mixed with Luke from Gilmore Girls (i know it’s a weird image but it’s all I got). Overall ok read.
Firstly I loved that car, felt the rumble and revs of that Pontiac Firebird! That wonderful connection continued right through to the end, making an exemplary read. There is so much action, from the start of reaping by the aliens there are battles of all kinds. And there is a humour. Very much a bloke kind of humour that had me in stitches, especially at those moments when humour is somewhat inappropriate. Sigh. Regarding characters, it’s impossible to choose just one. Brother is a hoot and a heartbreak. Gideon is a complex man, a hero complex buried under his past, who adores his daughter Susie. Sasha the AI is like sweet and sour sauce. Rip and Neon are life savers that I hope are in the next book that I MUST read. If you’re looking for a rip snorting gallop through a different kind of apocalypse with unforgettable characters and adrenaline rush battles this is the one for you. Warning though there’s a bit of real heartbreak in there just to spice up in a different way! I cried. And the quinpids are truly gross. I’m off to read it again before I get the next book!
Brother, I'm looking forward to getting to know you
Huge Jonathan Yanez fan here.
This was a surprise for me, apocalyptic and alien.. That's what happens when you don't read anything but who wrote the book. It'd like picking a movie because it has Jason Statham or Denzel Washington, you may not have sub ideas but or going to be worth it.
Jonathan Yanez did not disappoint, and this one I will be reading with his younger fan of7. I think she'll enjoy meeting Neon and Golden and of course Brother the little wolf.
Mankind has been Reaped by an alien species, our hero is a man trying to be the best man he can be for his daughter. His past may be ugly but he is doing his best.
I don't want to give anything away (but I would love to win the giveaway)🐺💙
Aliens ✔ AI ✔ Never surrendering ✅ Make your daughter Proud ☑ Smart strong females✅. Wolf ✅
Gideon Gunn is a character. He’s insane, hilarious and taking the end of the world in stride. He has the best banter with other characters and you as the reader. Forced to fight, he has to determine what he’s fighting for. This book his action packed and will be hard to put down because you will so much fun reading it. It will have you looking forward to the next one.
If you like action packed and slightly off kilter sort of heroes with absolutely no filter then this is the book for you. There are aliens, trials and comedy all packed in.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Full Throttle Savage - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
Jonathan Yanez's Full Throttle Savage is a rip-roaring space opera with bells on, as ex-hitman and mob 'cleaner' Gideon Gunn undergoes a life-or-death battle alongside other survivors - Newman, Vita and Skip - against alien quinpid beasts, before being abducted and enhanced, to face other 'gladiators' in the Grinder. Will he ever see his daughter again? Did his wife make it - and will he?
You're sure to enjoy this series opener and be as eager as I am for Book 2, so grab your copy of Full Throttle Savage today - and buckle up for a wild ride!
TBH nothing really new. Aliens invade earth, prisoners forced to fight, they escape, they joined the resistance What is different, is that the main character is bonkers, certifiably mad, the aliens augment the prisoners so the fights last longer and other races of alien that are also forced to fight dislike humans as much as their captures It's well thought out, the internal dialogue going on in Gideons head is both revealing and worrying, no way can he survive all this, yet he seems to thrive The next books will hopefully be as entertaining and the twists just as surprising
I have enjoyed all of the books I have read by Jonathan Yanez, however, this one just might be my favorite. I was dying from laughter the whole way through. Full Throttle Savage grabbed from beginning to end, there was so much action, drama and more that once I started, there was no stopping. I will say there is a huge twist that I did not see coming and it absolutely pulled on my heart strings, that's what makes a title so great is when it can pull on your emotions and just have you entranced. I highly recommend, especially for scifi lovers.
Overall a solid book. Aliens invade and occupy earth and force humans to fight in colosseum style games. Of course there is more going on than meets the eye and we start to see it unfold as time goes on. The main character has some things he is dealing with causing some mental issues. We see him trying to work through things but also not wanting to acknowledge it. Looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.
This story was a riot. Had a hard time reading it as I had to keep stopping and laughing every few minutes. So much laughter. But it made for a great read and I had to see what Gunn would do or say next. A fun alien invasion story and start of a series I cannot wait to see what might happen next. Great funny story and fun characters.
Once again, Yanez delivers a compelling story with strong characters, humor (rather dark in this one), a riveting storyline and strong morality (not preachy, just upright). This one's a bit more brutal than past series, but the carnage fits the story. I am really, really looking forward to the next one.
I've just finished reading this book and have pre - ordered the next one, " Eat The Weak ", for April, 2026. Bring. It. ON. YES !! Mr. Yanez is an excellent story - crafter with a deft hand for mixing action, humor and any other elements needed for the story he's writing. Excellent work, Sir. Thank you for the satisfying read.
Action packed book that is none stop. Humor of Deadpool, action of Dungeon Crawler Carl, survival of Whispering Crystals. I can not wait for the next book, and it’s a fun read. I want me a Brother Wolf now.
A wild ride from the first chapter! Lots of laughs and lots of action with a little craziness thrown in. Aliens, Gladiators, kids, and crochet needles! Lived the humor all the way through. Looking forward to the next volume!!
Jonathan did it again. This new series hooked me from the start and reeled me in. You will laugh, cry, and cheer for Gideon throughout the book. The adventure has just begun and I'm anxiously waiting to see what happens next!
I personally enjoyed this military Sufi invasion story. A quick read that I personally found engrossing. The story was fairly conventional but told in a humorous, often snarky, dialogue. Very fast paced.
Loved the story, butI really enjoy Jonathan's works, and I did like this one. Sadly, there were quite a few typos that slow down my reading. The plot - great, characters - interesting, cliff hanger enticing so I do want more. I just hope the editors rise to the occasion.
Good start to a new series. One day earth is occupied by aliens. There had been no warning. Now the few remaining survivors have to fight for their existence.
Really enjoyed this book until it stopped right in the middle with an "ad" to join the wolf club. Never could get back to the story. Not sure if I will contunue to read the series.
