For me, this book was too basic for my stage in my money journey. If you’re in your early 20s and starting out, give this a read and start setting yourself up financially.

The good things:
- Well written. I liked and appreciated the real life examples and could resonate with some of them.
- Covers everything you need to know. Even breaks down costs associated with purchasing a home.
- Recommends ETFs to invest in. I’ve added them to my CMC app so will keep an eye on them.

Room for improvement:
- Interestingly, it didn’t cover paying off bad debt at the start. Didn’t bother me as I fortunately have never had a huge credit card debt, but probably needed a mention to be well rounded.
- Very couple focused, lots of “Pablo and I”. Great for the author but I’m single. There are several pages dedicated to how to best share expenses, some tips for singles would have been nice.
- Superannuation isn’t really mentioned. I’m undecided on whether to put money here or not. As it’s a big part of our financials, some tips would be nice.

I probably should have picked up an investing book instead. Or perhaps I need to bite the bullet and invest in an advisor.

Quite well written, with some pretty practical (albeit very basic) advice on growing wealth. However, I will say that there is absolutely nothing new in here, and some advice only works well if you are in a couple, or if you have a nebulous 'techfluencer' job where you can work from any location.

Maybe I'm just too old, but the part on 'mini retirements' was peak gen z, and not realistic for most, unless you have some sort of golden goose automated business or are an 'entrepreneur' Bali influencer. In a huge amount of jobs, you will not have the luxury of yeeting off overseas for 6 months to a year without massively impacting your career trajectory and earnings...but hey, best of luck if that's possible for you.

I'll save you a read:

Invest early, invest often, invest broadly, time in market is better than timing in market, set goals, celebrate wins, remember money is a tool, be grateful, pay it forward, have a growth mindset.

I'd recommend for a late teens/early 20s, financially illiterate but motivated audience.

I listen to this as an audiobook and unfortunately found the voice of the narrator/author rather annoying. I still did persist and finished it though and was surprised that it covers a wide range of areas including self limiting beliefs, quality versus quantity. The biggest takeaway for me is to pay it forward. She is a kind person and encourages us to be kind towards each other. Simple message but profound if we do apply it to our daily lives. This is a great book for beginners on their financial journey.
