Azalea Jinx is supposed to be a savior, but she’s never felt like she quite lived up to the title. Mostly because she watched her best friend be turned into a hideous, deformed beast–a phenomenon that was entirely her fault.
The Conjurers brought her to Draxmere because they needed her to be the savior, and after Shayde’s betrayal, after Demi was ripped away from her forever, she would do anything to stop feeling so miserable. Including turning herself into the hero she knows she can never be. Even if it means killing the man she is still hopelessly in love with, a man who had revealed himself to be the very villain she was brought to the Charmed world to kill.
Draxmere isn’t the same this year, and it never will be again. A new dean has arrived on campus, one Grim-bound on ruining Azalea’s life and forcing her out of the school. One willing to do everything she is and more to prove the savior is working with the Grim. And the dean pushes her so far that she considers it, if only to escape the torture that being at Draxmere has become. Azalea Jinx knows she can’t forgive Shayde, that she can’t allow herself to be in love with the Grim, despite all the paths leading back to him.
And if she cannot love him, then she will hate him instead.

I have so many thoughts and so many words for this book that it is way too hard to put them all down in this review! I love Azalea so much! She is such a relatable character and the trauma that she went through/is going through was at times hard to read only because I can absolutely relate to them! AND OH MY POOR BABY SHAYDE!😭 I don't care if he's a Grim HE STILL NEEDS LOVE AND I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!! (I also have words for Jaymes but I shall keep those to myself👀) i always adore reading books centered around magical schools (because obviously we all want to go to a magical school like um hello??) Love the Friendships, love the Romance, love the Action and THAT ENDING??? WHO IS YOU?!?! (Side note: I love Grimsley with all of my heart!) I am ready and waiting for book 3 because ma'am, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!?!?!
I loved it. Not quite as much as book 1, but this was still very good and well worth the read and wait.
The book follows Azalea and her journey to try and forget Shayde and save Demi. In the process making new friends and some more enemies.
I personally love Grimsley! Haha and the name. Later on it made so much more sense of why he was roaming around so much. It was a sweet surprise and would have answered so many of Azaleas own questions in denial.
I enjoyed reading a bit more about the other characters as well, but I hope Ginny and her secret powers will feature more in the next book.
I can’t believe Jaymes… not saying more. I just can’t believe it.
I look forward to the third book in this series! Thank you N.M Lash for the opportunity to read this story.
Book 2 in the Draxmere Academy series. I am so invested in Azelea’s journey! This book kept me as hooked as the first. Azalea is prophesied to be the saviour, but whom she will save & how is unclear. Her turmoil with this expectation is evident & consuming. This story captivates extraordinary responsibility mixed with raw human emotion about love, loss & hate. No spoilers incase you haven’t read book one (if that’s the case, go read it. NOW), but I’ve definitely got a soft spot for one of our MCs!! The cliffhangers in this series are killing me though. A series I will 100% be continuing.
Thank you m.n.lash for sharing this ARC copy with me. I will forever be grateful.
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up for rating) Spice: 🌶️.5/5
We are back at Draxmere Academy in the aftermath of the revelation of who our Grims are – not just one, but two…like father, like son? It sure feels that way considering Shayde’s betrayal...but is everything as it seems?
🩶Enemies-Lovers 🖤“I would have started a war for you” 🩶Chosen One 🖤Dark Academia 🩶Morally Grey…Everyone 🖤Magical World, Abilities & Creatures 🩶Found Family
Azalea Jinx was brought to Draxmere because she’s supposed to be the savior – but for someone who has a history of not feeling any emotions, she’s never felt like she lived up to that title…largely because she saw her bestie get turned into a disgusting beast who only thinks about ☠️ others to gain power and it was Azalea’s fault.
Now? Azalea feels too much in the wake of Shayde’s betrayal and Demi being ripped away from her, and she’d do anything to stop feeling so miserable. Azalea is willing to do the unthinkable: turn into the hero and end the man who she still loves – who is the very thing she was brought to the Charmed world to ☠️
Draxmere is forever changed, and so is Azalea, but is it for the better? The new dean is Grim-bound on ruining Azalea’s life and proving that every prophecy in Azalea’s favor is wrong, and that Azalea isn’t on their side. With everyone questioning if Azalea is working with the Grim, she’s tempted to do just that, but the other part of her? Azalea knows she can’t forgive Shayde and she can’t love him…despite everything pushing her toward Shayde…will Azalea be able to hate him?
I was ALL in once I started reading, and eager to see how things would play out…and I’m still unsure the trajectory for our Chosen One – it’s unclear who our Chosen One is going to save and how she’s going to do that. I HAVE A MILLION QUESTIONS about literally every single prophecy at this point and feel a lot of things because uhm, plot twists and betrayals are happening that have left me UNSETTLED. I really wanted to go in and be like “Forget about Shayde, he’s a saboteur and betrayed us and we can’t fix him” and then I was like… “Wait, but did he? I can fix him, all shadow daddies are a little morally black…” AND then I got smacked in the face with something, in my opinion, happening that was way worse and I wanted to tell a few someones very specifically to kick rocks and that I didn’t want the savior to save them 😂 Harsh? Well, they brought this upon themselves. Is this vague and unhelpful? Maybe. But I can’t spoil it for you and want you to be distraught with me 😂
“You will not be my phantom, Shayde Glover, and I will not allow you to haunt me.”
M.N Lash, again and again produces banger after banger. I am utterly obsessed with the Draxmere Academy series and now after that ending? IM SO FREAKING PUMPED BUT SO SCARED FOR BOOK THREE
I loved Jaymes so much in this book - well, until I didn’t. But I appreciate how much his character went through and I really think he’s still gonna make a comeback (okay maybe I’m just hoping, praying… begging? Please 👉🏻👈🏻) Dagan is such a loveable character and I LOVED their gender identity of how normalized it was. We need more books like this, and I love seeing it more and more!!
Now, to Azalea - girl pissed me off SO MUCH! But I know that is what her character is meant to do. She is a hard to love character - shown time and time again with her relationships with other characters in the book. She has been through so much so I understand, but GIRL. I’m excited to see what she does in book three. Because she may make me mad, but she is a total badass.
My favourite favourite part of these books is the excerpts that start each chapter. I love the connection to each chapter and they are always so interesting! It’s different than other books and finds a way to tie so seamlessly with the content.
This is book 2 in the Draxmere Academy series, and just like the 1st book- Conjuring a Grim, my mind is blown in the best way. "𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒘𝒂𝒓 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖"
I adored returning to Draxmere Academy, this one definitely kept me on the edge the entire time, like I'm talking- I was cursing, pacing, gasping, laughing & crying throughout this- I am nottt okay because this book had the most twists, suspense and "I did not see that one coming" moments.
I loved watching Azalea, our fmc, grow into this baddie who doesn't care what anyone thinks of her, she is total goals. She overcame so much and I am so proud of her. Also Shayde, one of our shadow daddy mc's is still my fave, idc what anyone says. The way he cares for her in his own ways, protects her, and the yearning is top tier. Also he calls her "Little Flower" and I love that. I can't say tooo much without spoiling the story sooo if you haven't read book 1, please go do that asap! I'm still hung up on that ending thoughh, I can't wait for book 3! I need to know what happens next cause that cliffhanger almost had me screaming.
If you love a dark academia/fantasy romance, a hot shadow daddy, unique as hell magic system/abilities, touch her and d!e, and spicy spice then this is for you!
Okay, first off — dark fantasy lovers, you’re gonna eat this up. “Charming A Grim” gives us Azalea Jinx, a heroine torn between fate, love, and a Grim who’s as dangerous as he is magnetic. Add in a sprinkle of betrayal, a dash of prophecy, and you’ve got a wild ride that’s equal parts heartache and heat.
✨ What I Loved: • The characters? Deliciously complex. Azalea’s inner chaos and Shayde’s brooding duality kept me glued. • The plot twists? Did not see them coming — just when you think you know what’s happening, Lash flips the script. • The emotions hit deep — betrayal, longing, redemption — all rolled into one beautiful mess.
⚡ What Could Be Better: • The pacing gets a little uneven here and there — like, I wanted the big moments now, not three chapters later. • The world-building is solid, but I craved more. Give me the grit, the magic, the rules — all of it.
💀 Overall: “Charming A Grim” is the kind of dark fantasy that lingers after the last page — haunting, emotional, and a little wicked. If you love morally gray love stories where light and darkness tango, this one’s calling your name.
A rollercoaster of many twists and turns, good vs evil, and working through trauma. A perfect second installment in this gripping series that will leave you begging for the next book!
The Plot: This one continues where the last one left off on such a cliffhanger. We see how the events of book one have started to take their toll on Azalea. And oh does the plot thicken in this one and the twist!!! I cannot wait for the next one! I need answers and hopefully a happy ever after! I can't speak much more on this because I don't want to spoil anything but let's just say it is totally worth reading!
The Characters: I can't talk much about characters without spoils but let's just say they're amazing and twisted at the same time! I'm just gonna drop this quote here to get you intrigued about the characters and who will become what:
“Be wary of the beast inside, be wary of a friend who lied. Don’t query the Grim who hides, don’t query the friend who chooses sides. Don’t bury the secrets that died, don’t bury the truth you find.”
About a year ago, Conjuring a Grim kept me up until 4am reading because I just was not willing to put the book down. Charming a Grim enhances all of the things I love about this world!
Azalea's journey is riveting to read. She’s both strong and vulnerable, snarky and sentimental, and I really enjoyed seeing her relationships develop in this book. She went from struggling with emotional numbness to the overwhelming cacophony of feeling so many conflicting things at once, and the sheer rawness and messiness of this was portrayed beautifully.
I would call Shayde my guilty pleasure... if I had any guilt about it! I cannot get enough of this man obsessed with the woman he's claimed as his. His own journey is absolutely fascinating, and made me love him even more. The storyline itself has developed in a really intriguing way, I was absolutely captivated from start to finish, and I'm ravenous to see where we go from here!
As we continue on Azalea's journey I find myself desperate for her to catch any kind of break in this lifetime. But no matter how often she falls, Azalea never fails to get back up again. She is truly a strong character, even when she is embracing her weakness. While she is 2D and in a very magical situation, it is easy to relate to her as she begins to realize something we all must learn, which is to learn to prioritize yourself. Her relationships and self-worth are constantly being challenged and my only desire is for her to choose what is best for herself - not the right or wrong side, light or dark magic, Shayde or James… the list goes on.
If I had one critique, I would say the pacing could be a bit more fluid. We should be able to sit more in the moments where Azalea has time to develop her magical abilities. She is destined to become the strongest conjurer of all time, is enrolled in the most elite conjurer school, but it seems like her opportunities to progress are cut short with fast-paced action scenes.
Recommending for those who thrive during spooky season including but not limited to vampires, werewolves, hot villains suffering from multiple personality disorder, and other spooky but magical creatures.
Get ready for Book 2 in The Draxmere Academy series! This one picks up right after the ending of Book 1, after Azalea Jinx finds out the truth about Shayde. Their relationship is now the very definition of hate-love relationship. She may hate him to his face and in front of her friends, but deep down, she can’t shake the pull he still has on her. With Demi’s fate hanging by a threat, Azalea is determined to save her, no matter the cost.
This book also introduces us to the history of the Grim, revealing how they were created, while political tensions rise between the Light and Dark factions as they battle for the power to decide how to answer the Grim’s demands.
On top of the tension, there’s a major betrayal I never saw coming. There are also bright spots, like new characters that keep the story fun and light. Dagan especially stood out as such a perfect addition to the story. We also see Azalea embrace her magic and even uncovering something new about herself.
The ending is perfect, but it’s still a cliffhanger. I need the next book in the series now!
I have a lottttt of emotions here. My heart is mostly happy where the book left off (unresolved issues but not a heartbreaking cliffhanger this time)
Dagan is one of my favorite characters 🤩 everything about the character is fascinating to me and I can’t wait to see the dynamic between Dagan and Demi.
Shayde Shayde Shayde.. this one pulled on my heartstrings. He’s done bad for sure, but his friends are so quick to abandon him and write him off as evil without even questioning what is happening 🥲
Azalea is better than meee. I would’ve let it all burn after what they did to her.
And Jaymes is a disappointment I saw coming. I hope he chooses right in the future 🥺
Thankful to get this ARC 💜 Can’t wait for the next one!

I had the pleasure of arc reading both books in the series so far and I have to say what a joy it has been! I love Azaela’s character so much, she is sassy, and badass, and so unapologetically herself! Still not over Demi from book 1 though!
I really don’t like Jaymes, his character sucks, he is just ugh, he needs punched in the balls! Shayde’s character though is giving obsession, possessive, and touch her and die, I am here for it! I am obsessed with Dagan! They are fun, flirty, and down to party!
If you enjoyed book 1 you will definitely like book 2, can’t wait to read book 3!
Book 2 in the Draxmere Academy Series These should be read in order, starting with book 1: Conjuring a Grim
The way book 1 ended I couldn't wait for this book! Talk about a cliffhanger. I need to know what happens to Azaela and the MMCs. But everyone puts so much weight and responsibility on her, especially with the prophecy she must fulfill. Just like her we don't know what is going to happen! MN knows how to make you emotionally invested in the characters, because that ending!!!
This series has so many twists and turns. I crave more!
A few moments in the beginning I felt like Azalea was Bella Swan in the chair looking out the window. Time kept passing and she was sad and depressy.
But BAM - back at Draxmere - and the shenanigans begin again! Secrets. Betrayals. Prophecies! Dreams. New friends.
I adored Dagan! They are quite the entertaining character. And Grimsly! Loved that little addition to the world building. Having some POV from Reaper Demi was also fun!
The obsession Shayde has with Azalea is fantastic. He’s doing all kinds of wild things to be near her. Even when she stabs him (literally). He still comes back for more.
While this book could have felt a little like a transition book - working its way up to huge reveals - it was jam packed with action, character building, more world building, and incorporated more magic and magical beings. Thoroughly enjoyable! And I can’t wait to see how these prophesies pan out.

I had the pleasure of ARC reading both book 1&2 of Draxmere Academy of Conjuring!
I will say I greatly appreciate this ending. It left me happy but also sad…but also content. While there is a lot more story to go I feel this ended in a way that I can accept waiting however long until the next book comes!
First of all I hate Jaymes. Second, in my opinion Shayde was the only choice…right? Third I like Dagan more than Demi - I said what I said.

We continue from book two and woah! Learning more about the world and the characters blended in so well. Getting more lore and seeing the FMC come into her own while also processing her newly found feelings after being numb for so long. I enjoyed this book and I'm ready to see the world burn in book three, if we get to be that lucky. 😀
OMG! I've been waiting for this book for a while and now I need book 3!! This story had me at the edge of my seat, screaming, and wanting the throw my Kindle across the room. Everything about this series is just so amazing!
So I haven’t read book 1 and obviously I may get lost and confused a few times but I had moments when I cackled about certain things and all in all it was a good story
I was team Jaymes for a bit in this book, not going to lie. I like the side of Shayde we saw in book 2 compared to book 1. I am going to continue the series!
This second book in The Draxmere Academy of Conjuring Series is one I have been waiting on for months. I had so many feelings coming into this book and if you haven't read book one, do yourself a favor and do it now. You need it before reading book two. Honestly I wish I would have read book one again before I read book two because I had to dig deep into the memory bank and remember things that happened that were relevant and like... let's be honest, we've all lived 900 lives since last year.
So, if you haven't read book one, DON'T READ PAST THIS POINT. I'M FOR REAL. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE, AND IT IS NOT MY FAULT IF YOU KEEP READING.
At the end of book one, I was all for Azalea moving the f on from Shayde and letting Jaymes take care of everything, including her kitty. (Not Grimsly, who we quickly meet in book two, but her... kitty.) In my mind, Jaymes accepted Azalea for who she is, he was a dick, sure, but he was trying to protect himself. And Shayde... well, Shayde is the Grim. So like... bro, you're out. And then while reading this book, I still felt that... until I didn't. Because y'all, our girl goes through it in this book and you know who is there for her but in the weirdest of ways that makes you start to go "wait what?" Jaymes. And then the prophecies.
Okay, I'm going to stop there because I have 900 questions that I hope will be answered in book 3 but they won't help y'all that are deciding to read this book. But, you need to go read it. You will feel every emotion while reading it but then be left satisfied even though it's still a cliffhanger and you're not really satisfied. How did M.N. Lash even do that? How did she write a book so good that I'm not mad but I'm also not happy and I have a lot of anxiety but some things are solved but they're really not? Like what the hell?
