This was a unique and interesting read. The story wove together Norse Mythology with a small East Texas setting (enjoyed all the comments of ETX being that I have lived here to past 19 years). With an interesting blend of Norse Runes and the modern world. Interesting twist on mythology.
Our FMC felt realistic and at times relatable. And I definitely pictured Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

This was such a fun read for me. I’m always a sucker for Norse mythology in books, and I loved the small town paranormal vibe mixed with the rune magic and mystery. Loki was charming, chaotic, and definitely gave me that “can I trust him?” energy that kept me hooked.
One of my favorite parts though was honestly the dogs. As a huge dog person with dogs named after Norse mythology myself, I kept thinking about my own pups while reading and it made the story feel extra cozy and personal to me.
If you enjoy paranormal romantasy, small town mysteries, Norse mythology, loyal dogs, and a touch of magical chaos, this one is worth checking out! I definitely plan on continuing this series!

The story takes place in a small Texas town and we are introduced to Amethyst and her two dogs who live in a trailer on the edge of the woods. One afternoon magic sparks through the air and ancient runic symbols appear on the trees and the ground. Part scared, part curious, Amethyst is unsure what will happen next.
In the dog park she meets a man called Loki, who has his own magical spark and runes run across his arms and body. As their friendship grows, storms batter the town and unexplainable energy surges occur. While the townsfolk shy away from supernatural events a threatening government law enforcement team moves closer.
The story was told mainly from Amethyst’s point of view, but there were also several chapters seen through Loki’s eyes. I enjoyed the links to Norse mythology, especially the runes which were often a character of their own. The story was slow to build, as did the romance and while I appreciated getting to know the setting through the world-building, I found the pace dragged in places. However, once the tale hit the last third the pace quickened with the drama. If you enjoy old magic and Nordic myth, mixed with a chaos god, then this tale might be for you.

I enjoyed reading this book and felt it was a cozy read but still gave off a small town mystery and a touch of X-Files vibe.
The writing was descriptive and atmospheric that I felt like I was actually in the pine woods and the small town. The rune magic was unique and that the story involved some Norse mythology.
I related to the FMC Amethyst, in wanting to escape life in a bigger city for one that is quiet and away from people. She is independent but still has a vulnerability about herself. The MMC, Loki is not the typical Loki we would assume he would be as a jokester. I found him charming, mysterious and I definitely pictured Tom Hiddleston while reading. I liked the romance and dynamic between them. I loved that Amethyst had a strong bond with her two dogs Mystic and Ash. Those two would do anything to protect her.
This book really was a great start and I hope to learn more about Amethyst and her family history. Miss Eliza is also an interesting character that I need to know more about. The town Amethyst lives in is a beacon for strange and mysterious happenings.
I got to read a bonus chapter and I absolutely loved it!! More mystery and supernatural beings to enjoy!

What an interesting, unique, mysterious story! It wove together magic, mythology and suspense in a way to keep me hooked and enthralled. I really enjoyed getting to know more about the mythology that was interwoven throughout the book. I really liked the MMC! I am definitely interested in reading the next book to see how the story progresses!

This is a wonderfully electrifying tale that masterfully weaves fantasy, romance, and even psychological thrills, effortlessly evoking the eerie atmosphere of Dean Koontz's earliest works, even while branching out in far reaching new directions. As I am a huge fan of Dean Koontz’s earlier novels, this delighted me tremendously!
First, we meet Amethyst, a strong-willed, independent young woman living on the outskirts of a small Texas town with her two loyal Australian cattle dogs, Ash and Mystic, trying to enjoy peace and quiet after some unsettling events in her life drove her to relocate. As it turns out, however, she's not alone. Mysterious golden runes appear around her, in the woods, on the paths, even on her house! And if that’s not enough, she's being watched by the deeply mysterious and enigmatic Loki, a complex character both wonderfully familiar and stunningly new. This is not the MCU Loki at all, and not quite your standard Norse Mythology Loki, but it is extremely easy to visualize Tom Hiddleston also playing this part, just—with some delightfully delicious differences!

This was a fun and enjoyable read filled with small town vibes mixed with some paranormal aspects. Luna wove a great story. I really look forward to reading more of her work.

This book was a fun read, different than a lot of recent books I’ve read. A cool magic aspect mixed with romance. There were some slow parts, but overall a great book.
Edit, I got to read the bonus chapter too, loved the deeper dive into the main characters and a peak at even more supernatural things in the world.

I read this as an ARC Review (my first one). I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this read. It was perfect for a fall cozy read. If you are a fan of magic, runes, Loki 😉, a badass female main character (Amethyst) and puppies- this one is for you.

This book was an absolute delight of the senses! Luna did an incredible job describing the forest sights, sounds and smells and the action packed fight scenes that occurred throughout the book! And who was amidst all this chaos you might ask?!? My absolute favorite character, Loki!!! This Loki is an absolute dream! The balance she created in our favorite trickster made me sigh happily all throughout this book! He is everything he should be…intelligent, intense, naughty, playful, sincere…I could go on… suffice to say she created the perfect Loki!
Luna has spun a fascinating story about runes and old legends into today’s modern world with a strong FMC that many women are able to easily identify with.
I also would be remiss if I did not speak of my absolute favorite side characters, Ash and Mystic, Amethyst’s two Australian cattle dogs. They are such a big part of the story and Amethyst’s life, so like our own pets in real life. Their personalities come out in the adorable way that Luna describes their antics.

This book was a really unique and captivating read. It combined a lot of different elements I didn’t know would work together into something I couldn’t put down. I one more chapter’ed myself into a sleepless night and I regret nothing. I found Loki to be unapologetically Loki. He’s pure chaos. And I adored him for it. He’s absolutely obsessed with Amethyst, and I’m a little jealous of her. I want a Loki like this one…maybe. The connection and chemistry between our MCs was so palpable and intense. You could feel it in the words Luna wrote. And not to mention the tension between danger and romance. Sometimes I wasn’t even sure which it was. These two are a power couple to be reckoned with. And I couldn’t help but want everything for them. They chose chaos and I will happily watch them burn the world to get the ending they deserve.

Choosing Chaos was an intriguing start to the series. The world-building pulled me in right away—magic, danger, and a steady unfolding of mystery that kept me reading. I genuinely enjoyed the story and I’m definitely planning to continue on when the next book releases.
My biggest wish was simply more male main character POV. The dynamic hinted at so much depth and tension, and I kept wanting to see inside his head more often. I think his perspective would’ve added emotional weight to several key moments and strengthened the character connection overall.
Even so, this book has a lot of potential, and I’m excited to see where the series goes next. I’ll be picking up the sequel as soon as it’s available.

I so enjoyed this book. Now it took me between 5 to 10 chapters to really get not the book. The runes is what captured my attention and i needed to know what happens. Loki is now one of my favorite mac's. His wit and charm in the book was impeccable. He was doing his best at saving the fmc from the damage that was coming. Our fmc was amazing to watch her grow into who she was within the book. She went from hiding out to a strong woman without losing her compassion for others. And staying true to herself. Watching the magic in this book come together was also another favorite thing in the book. Now i'm on to book 2

This isn’t a typical book I would pick up but Loki has always been a soft spot for me. Our MMC Loki is perfection, he’s exactly who I would want him to be. Our fmc Amethyst is also a fighter and we see her grow a lot which I for one love! This has mythology, magic, war, and redemption. I suggest everyone give this book a try! Also not super spicy but it didn’t need it, the plot was plotting hard!

I enjoyed this book, overall. It was a little slower than what I like. It was my first Norse-god related fantasy read, so that was fun. Toward the end of the book, the chapters kept ending, like the book was coming to an end, and then there would be another chapter!! I will be ARC reading book 2 & look forward to that.

I love this book from beginning to end. The detail and imagery she gives are incredible! Amethyst is an understandable and relatable character along with her two dogs. Loki is her amazing counterpart with a beautiful slow-burn romance between them.

Different but enjoyed it
