First of all, in addition to the Summary, you should be alerted to the following tags: "Mind control, Non-sexual slavery, Rodney is prejudiced." There's also an Author's Note:
Mature for violence and themes. Warning for dark!Rodney who goes off the rails. DL;DR (Don't like; don't read). He is redeemed by the end but if that's not your sort of thing, don't get upset at me. ....

ETA: Please note I published this before the TV show stole my title! No fair!

For my part, anyone who's read more than a few of my reviews knows that I am unlikely to enjoy a book focusing on unsympathetic characters, or with a depressing tone/ending, so the fact that I gave this 4★s should reassure you that it doesn't get as dark as the warnings made me fear. I like explorations of constructed intelligence, and this is an insightful, original, and cleverly-plotted one, with a satisfying ending, yet which gave me lots of speculative "thinky thoughts".
I like that this fic was mainly from the cycon PoV, unlike many 'verses where it's more about the prejudiced human coming to trust a particular, often prototype, android. Rodney's soul-corroding, logic-blocking blindspot is well-explained, though, and it was good to see him finally start to (re)think, and realize the wrong he'd done.
