From USA Today best-selling author Roxanne Rustand comes another heartwarming, character-driven novel in her popular Northern Pines Suspense series, featuring Clean Romantic Suspense. A touch of suspense, page-turning twists...and with their forced proximity, maybe there's even an unexpected second chance at love.
A PAINFUL SECRET. A SECOND CHANCE. AND A HOPE FOR A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE, IF THEY CAN JUST HEAL FROM THEIR PAST...
After a painful divorce, small-town bookstore owner, Beth Carrigan, has rebuilt a quiet life in northern Wisconsin. The last thing she expects is her ex-husband Devlin—a decorated Marine—coming back with life-changing his late mother’s will binds them together for six months with a shocking ultimatum.
To secure the future they each desperately need—Beth’s beloved bookstore and Dev’s full inheritance—they must work side by side for six months to manage his mother’s stately home, now a temporary refuge for down-on-their-luck residents. It's a daunting mission that requires compassion, cooperation...and working together despite their painful divorce.
But someone doesn’t want them to succeed.
A string of "accidents" becomes increasingly dangerous. Sabotage, secrets, and a long-held grudge threaten not just their second chance at love but the lives of others.
This Christmas, healing a broken heart will be the least of her worries.

She got her first horse at the tender age of six and grew up riding bareback with wild abandon throughout her small Minnesota town year-round. It was like giving a child car keys!
She showed horses for many years, and later, she and her husband raised quarter horses and thoroughbreds until their kids came along.
She's living her childhood dream, living on an acreage in the country with her husband, three horses (all beloved elderly pasture ornaments, now), a golden retriever, a Mountain Cur rescue, and six fluffy barn cats. It's a much smaller menagerie than when their three kids were still at home!
Ranches, animals, and small-town life frequently find their way into her books.
Dangerous December has interesting and engaging characters, as well as, an entertaining storyline. There’s not is a small amount of suspense but, I don’t consider that a large portion of the plot. I definitely want to read more of Ms. Rustard’s work. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
The story was intriguing and the characters interesting and likeable. All could have been fleshed out more. The story moved along and the ending seemed rather rushed through. Wish it could have played out.
