Very good first novel! I've really enjoyed. I was quite worried because I read some reviews that the book falls quickly or that you can easily tell who the murderer is. However, I tried to be open-minded all the time and I really enjoyed all the characters and the descriptions of the landscapes. Spoiler alert: I have to add that once the last attack takes place, it is true that the last twenty pages could be delated. I believe that the author did not want to finish it abruptetly but, for my taste, she adds too much after the mistery is completely solved.

Not bad for her first (and only?) thriller. I found the timing hard to follow sometimes, as there weren't many notations in the writing to let readers know whether hours or days were passing. The character dialogue was also a bit distracting; few contractions as well as some rather repetitive words in conversation (essentially one person repeating back what the first had said) - it just seemed unrealistic to me. But overall I enjoyed the story and read it quickly.
I liked the book....There were many twists in the plat to keep me reading. I also learned some interesting facts about the Miami area. It is pretty graphic at times, but it did not bother me. There was not a lot of bad language, which actually bothers me more than autopsy talk. I would recommend the book
Many things about this book were satisfying. Mostly the background details. The heat, the pool, the Everglades, interiors. The author can really put you there. What I wasn't as keen about were the characters. And I knew immediately who the killer was. Spoiler alert- the dog doesn't die. Whew.
It starts out with the potential to be very good, but falls flat. I found that the end was very predictable and I saw who was the killer a long way off. An ok read as long as you have no expectations of greatness.
I enjoyed the story-line of this book but found that I did not get very involved with the characters' personalities. The conversations between characters seemed choppy and unfinished. The ending shouldn't have been surprising....which is probably why I wasn't expecting it.
I was quickly irritted with the proceedural conversations in this book, which seemed intent on proving that the author knew what she was talking about, rather than binding us into a story.
