She broke the law the moment her daughter was born.
In a fractured America under the One Family Act, Eve has two Micah, her registered son, and Wren, the secret daughter the state must never find.
For years, they’ve survived hidden deep in the forest. Silent. Careful. Invisible. Until the day a government drone catches Eve’s face… and the hunt begins.
Burning the life they knew, Eve flees north with both children, chasing the fading path of an old resistance map toward the Canadian border. But a checkpoint rips them apart, each believing the other may be gone forever.
Stranded in the Gray Zone, a lawless borderland where danger wears a friendly smile, Eve must decide who to trust, how far to run, and what she’s willing to risk to reunite her family.
The silence that once kept them safe may now be the thing that destroys them.
Just Beneath the Silence is a taut, heart-shaking story of maternal love, quiet rebellion, and the fragile line between survival and surrender.

One of my favorites This book was an absolute page-turner and quickly became one of my favorites of the year. It’s beautifully written, easy to follow, and keeps you fully engaged from start to finish. The concept is captivating and the characters feel incredibly real—likable, relatable, and easy to root for. What stood out most to me was how emotional and immersive the story felt. It perfectly balances suspense, heart, and thought-provoking themes about family, freedom, and survival. Even if dystopian fiction isn’t usually your genre, this book will turn you into a fan. I can’t recommend it enough!
This book was very good, a different genre for me! Think dystopian, Silo, Hunger Games, 1984 vibes. It was smooth to read, you could feel the characters emotions through the authors words, and there were some twists I didn’t see coming — I couldn’t put it down!
