I’ve done everything right—built a career, climbed the corporate ladder, and put the family business first. But when my father tries to turn my love life into a merger deal, I realize it might be time to finally break a rule or two.
So I do something completely out of character: I run.
One impulsive flight, one sketchy boat rental, and one minor shipwreck later, I wash up off the coast of Maine only to be rescued by a grumpy (and unfairly attractive) harbormaster who thinks I’m a walking, talking disaster.
He’s rugged, grounded, infuriating, and annoyingly good at saving me. I’m only here for the summer—just long enough to clear my head, avoid my father’s matchmaking schemes, and figure out what I want.
Falling for a man who navigates fog better than his own feelings? Not part of my plan.
But between lobster rolls, starry nights, and kisses I can’t stop thinking about, I start to wonder if I’m no longer escaping something... but finding something worth staying for.

Sun, sea and a heartwarming summer romance. this book marked everything you wanted in a book.
Nina a business woman in new york city tired of following her father's footsteps of being in the business, but when she was forced to marry a guy for business deal that's where she decided to not let her life be control by anyone other than she herself.
in a discovery of finding peace in her life, she decided to book a trip to a beach away from all the city crowd.
On her very first day she was handed a boat by the worker at the Harbor to drive in her first experience she ended up being saved by a Harbor master after hours of waiting on a sandbar.
the harbour master aka Travis, is grumpy enough to criticize her for her stupidity yet gentle enough to help her in exploring town for the rest of her trip.
now let me get to the fun part about all the lobsters thing, i think at some point i did eventually started humming " rock lobster by B-52 ". the bike riding, to shopping, to double cycling, saving her from drowing away on a tube, beach volleyball, the star gazing date night.
everything was so beautiful written, reading this book was like a cool breeze with ocean waves.
Now the only reason why I rate is 4 stars is in the ending she came for him and started living her life on the beach side only, but what I'm missing is all the decisions and the parents reaction, all the communication where they decide how this will work, because according to the ending it was kinda just like she came back that's all.
second as mentioned travis was married before but what actually happened with her wife or not even his name was mentioned, which I find a little distrubing. even his brothers didn't talk about it nor anyone else who's living in that town.
although the story was no doubt short, sweet and swoon-worthy but it missed few points so yeah there's that. but it's still going into my fav list. and I'm curious to read more of Jacob books now.
A Shore Fling pleasantly surprised me with its mix of lighthearted fun and deeper emotional moments. Jacob Chance delivers a beachy, small-town romance that feels like a refreshing escape. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, with plenty of playful banter and slow-building attraction that kept me turning the pages.
The heroine’s independent spirit and the hero’s easy charm made for a delightful dynamic, with both characters growing in believable and satisfying ways. I especially enjoyed the vivid seaside setting that added a cozy, intimate vibe to the story.
While the plot unfolded predictably at times, the author’s engaging writing style and the warmth between the characters more than made up for it. Supporting characters added flavor without distracting from the main romance.
If you’re looking for a feel-good summer read with a sweet romance, charming characters, and a touch of drama, A Shore Fling is worth checking out. It’s the kind of book that leaves you with a smile and a cozy, contented feeling.
Cute and quick read. Nina escapes to main for the end of summer after being stressed out at her family business. She meets Travis who is the crabby harbor master. Nina finds she loves Maine but has always planned on going back to NYC.
Really hope this becomes a series. Enjoyed the supporting characters.
Banter for days!!! We have all needed that escape right? From work? From life? This was the perfect fun, end of summer read where you escape with Nina. A mix of grump/sunshine and humor. The characters, Nina and Travis, are well written and the story flows with all the funny one liners and back and forth banter. Travis is or ultimate Grumpy boy and Nina knows how to match him. Sweet, funny story…check it out today!
I’ve read almost all of Jacob’s books and by far, I think this one is my favorite! Most books by several authors have that one fight at the end before the get back together theme. It’s to the point I can look down at the time left to end of book and know when it’s coming. This story didn’t do that! It was an actual love story. It’s a great beach read if ever there was one! Kudos, Jacob! I hope the other side characters speak to you!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fun, sweet, filled with a great cast of characters and kept me smiling and engaged. Nina, in need of R&R away from the demands of her family firm, sets off for a holiday by the sea...and falls into a series of crazy disasters and into the path if the handsome, but grumpy harbour master, Travis. The town, the inhabitants, the brothers and new friends, all come together to infuse Nina with a new sense of peace and belonging. My only gripe, is I am a pain about loose ends...and the end felt, tome, to be sudden, a bit brief, and I wanted to k ow what had happened with her work, but that may be information for another book 😁💖💖💖💖
I've always said that Jacob could write anything and this just proves it. A light hearted, slow burn with just the right amount of angst. The main characters Travis and Nina are perfect, their banter and humorous jabs, keep you turning the pages with a smile, while you wonder how Nina is going to get through the grumpy exterior of Travis. Great side characters as well that I am hoping make it to some sequels (hint, hint). A great summer read!
Love this book! Such a relaxing easy feel good romcom that left me wanting more. These two had me cracking up. Jacob really stepped out of his normal for this one and I am here for it. Travis is a grump and his one liners had me laughing so hard. Sarcastic humor is my sense of humor so this was my cup of tea. I love the town and all the side characters and I can’t wait for more from this town!
This book has it all - laughter, sadness, tenderness and much more. The characters are so different that they're perfect for each other and the chemistry sizzles. Travis is the local harbour master and rescued Nina when she strands her boat on a sand bar. When they keep bumping into each other, the attraction pulls them together and the chemistry heard up. Jacob gave yet another great read that I didn't want to put down! Here's hoping he writes Travis brothers books too!
Once again Jacob Chance has delivered a fun, lighthearted read which was full of wonderful banter, sizzling chemistry, and terrific characters. An opposites attract, city girl/small town guy, found friends, small town romance which had me constantly giggling.
Nina Moreau needs a break from her high stress level job, so she spontaneously books a vacation, not telling anyone except her sister. A seaside town in Maine calls her and it's exactly where she heads, will the city girl cope? Travis Thorn is the harbourmaster of the town; he's a touch grumpy and takes everything in life seriously. Their meet-cute is highly amusing as Nina finds herself stranded and Travis comes to her rescue. They may not instantly get along, but their chemistry and banter are incredible. Two people from opposite worlds shouldn't work but they do, and it's full-on entertainment watching the friendship build and evolve.
If I've said it once, I've said it often, Jacob Chance sure knows how to deliver a story. His wit, sarcasm, and humour are always perfectly portrayed in his characters. When there is a couple like Nina and Travis, Travis' brothers and friends, and Nina's sister, you know that the laughter will be non-stop. I just hope those brothers get their own stories. Another wonderful read from Jacob.
I love summer flings especially when it's by Jacob Chance. His newest one brings two people, Nina and Travis, so totally opposite from each yet in many ways they actually work together. All her life has been about living in the city, working in her father's business and competing with the men around her.She knows being a woman in the top level of her father's company people see her differently but each day is a fight to prove she can do a man's job even though she is a woman. Crazy to believe there are still people that think a woman can't do the same job as a man yet Jacob Chance just wows with Nina. The thing is doing this everyday has made her feel like she can be replaced anytime and now her father has done something she can never forgive him. She always wanted a love that is unforgettable not being forced into one. Seeing her with Travis we see a side of Nina no one has seen one that is relaxed and not always pressured or working too hard. The chemistry between them is laid back yet once they let go of their difference they really get into each other. It's a slow romance but once they get it going it's one no one can stop even when the real world calls Nina. The great part and hopefully there is more of this little town is Travis has brothers. Can't wait to see what else is in store from Jacob Chance.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
Oh My Goodness. The author has given us a real treat with A Shore Fling. The storyline is funny, romantic and full of hilarious situations and banter. I found myself smiling and laughing from start to finish. This is Nina and Travis’s story and if ever opposites attract, it’s these two. Nina is a city girl who escapes to the quaint beach town to get away from the rat race of her life for a couple months. Travis is the harbormaster of said quaint town who takes his job and life way too seriously. These two get off on the wrong foot when Nina takes an expensive boat from the harbor to her rental house. But instead of finding her rental, she ends up running the boat up on a reef on a small deserted isle. Lucky (or Unlucky) she is spotted by Travis, as he makes his last round for the night, several hours later. Needless to say, Travis is not happy about the situation and isn’t overly polite. From here the storyline takes off as Nina, the NY City girl, attempts to fit in the small beach town, even at the detriment of surviving a grumpy Travis and his brothers.
This is a fun, hilarious read that this reader will be reading over and over in the years to come. It’s light hearted humor and the crazy good banter between Nina and Travis will no doubt have you doing the same.
Love love loved Nina! (And travis too I guess.) She’s honestly one of the most level-headed and likeable FMCs I’ve come across in a long time. The run-of-the-mill FMCs have a long standing streak of being so “pick me” and annoying, but not Nina. No, she’s an absolute breath of fresh air especially for someone with a demanding corporate career. She balanced out grumpy Travis and making them into an imperfectly perfect pair.
The story itself is very low stakes. She impulsively goes on a month and a half long vacation at a sleepy Oceanside town after being burnt out and overlooked by her demanding and misogynistic father and brother. She meets a grumpy harbormaster and shenanigans ensues. Very straightforward and clean.
And yet, I feel like there should be more. Like what happens to Nina’s life in New York? Did she just quit being CFO? What about her family? It feels like her relationship with them should have been expanded and explored more. Will the other three Thorne brothers have their own story? What about Nina’s sister Irene and her cheating fiancé? Does Nina stay on the island or does she commute? So many questions left unanswered, but I will say i thoroughly enjoyed the transition from frenemies to lovers between the two.
Nina has been working for her family company and needs a break. Every request for vacation is declined, so when her father decides who she needs to marry to merge their company, she's had enough and decides that she needs a mental health break and takes off not telling anyone other than her sister where she was going. However, her escape leads her to driving a boat she had no idea how to drive and inadvertently finding herself in trouble. Enter harbormaster, Travis, who is out patrolling and comes to her rescue and their chemistry is instant. Through Nina's vacation, they continue bumping into each other and their banter continues and so does their chemistry, but neither want to take it farther with Nina's time to go home nearing. This was a fun book to read between the building chemistry and the constant bantering between them they instantly became a favorite book couple!
I’m so excited to leave this review because I was so amazed by this story. Jacob Chance really wrote something sensational with this one. Travis is such a complex and awesome man. He’s loyal, hardworking and is so sexy as well. Nina had it with the corporate world and her family’s company. She spontaneously took off to Maine for the rest of the summer. She’s smart, talented and just an amazing person. When Travis and Nina meet it’s definitely a lasting impression. Let’s just say there relationship started off with him saving her when she grounded a boat on an island and he was not happy.
But from there, they started to slowly build something special. This story has hysterical banter, explosive chemistry as well as true love. It’s really sensational!!
The secondary characters are just as awesome and I hope and pray this is the start to another series!!
I chuckled so much with this book! A Shore Fling was the latest release by Jacob Chance. It was a fun summer read, filled with laughs and chemistry!
Nina thought she was doing the right thing but the right thing for her career might have been the wrong thing for herself. Taking off for the rest of the summer seemed like a good idea at the time, but her city girl smarts might not have been a match for the slower setting of coastal Maine. Every time she found herself in a jam, Travis was there to help her. Would he be able to help her figure out what her next move was or would he end up being a distraction?
These two were amazing together! Loved watching their frustration with each other slowly turn into something else! I loved how carefree she was when she relaxed and how much he saved her!! I can’t wait to see what happens next!!
Has anybody ever wanted to just exit their lives for a bit? Maybe be anyone other than the corporate stiff so many of us have turned into? Heck, I need that right now, so Nina's need to get away in A Shore Fling was completely relatable. The rest (the money and the yummy man) are the things we hope for, especially on vacation!
One of the many things I love about Jacob's books is the banter and this story had a two-handed dose. Travis, the yummy, grumpy harbormaster, and Nina, the uppity NYC rich girl shouldn't work but they do; boy, do they! I also loved all the siblings and friends who added so much fun to this story. Awesome beach read from Jacob Chance!
Nina has taken a vacation for her mental and emotional health, when she arrives in the coastal town in Maine she meets the Harbormaster Travis. Travis has lived here all his life with four brothers and when he meets Nina there is a spark. As they run into each other I'm town the spark grows and becomes more. With each page the encounter more with each other than they expected. Can they have a relationship when they come from two different worlds? It's packed full of emotions, sweet moments, slow burn that's gets spicy, lots of laughs and more. A great summer read yiubwont want to miss. Can't wait to read what this author has next.
A breathtakingly romantic love story that had me under its spell from the very beginning. This is why I read romance. This book had everything I want in a romance – heart, passion, humor and emotion. Travis and Nina are a perfect match. Their banter was witty; the push and the pull was a delight to read. I fell deeper in love with the characters and their story with each turn of the page. The storyline was beautifully written, and I was swept away as this incredible story unfolded. A heartwarming and captivating story that will have you swooning!
Jacob Chance is known for his sports romcom books. And I have read everyone of them. But when Jacob! ventures out into another genre, his writing is spectacular. He finds a story. He tells that story and we all become part of that story. This book is no exception however, I think of all the books , I have read this is one of the best. In reading his thoughts at the end you could tell lately he struggled, but he sure succeeded with this story. It is a chance classic.
This is Nina and Travis’s story. She thought she was doing everything right. That is until her father thinks he can run her love life. She goes on the run. When she needed rescued Travis comes to help her. He is grumpy and banter back and forth some. But falling for him was never her plan. Can she build a future with him or is she about to get caught and taken back to a deal that includes no love?
I devoured this book! You have Nina who is a workaholic and her parents want to arrange her marriage. Nina decided to run away and finds a small town in Maine. After a series of unfortunate events she meets Travis who helps her find her way. You meet several fun side characters who hopefully will get books! I loved seeing grumpy sunshine fall for the girl. This is a slow burn but it’s definitely worth it! I loved the banter in this book. I highly recommend! 💛🏖️
I've taken my time reading A Shore Fling, but what a great read. This was something very different from what we're used to from this author. Lighthearted, funny, and oozing with chemistry.
It's a story about Nina who works with her family business in NYC. She decides to head off for a much needed break and rents a holiday home in Havenport, Maine .. She runs into a bit of trouble and meets the grumpy habourmaster Travis. We get to learn about them both and see something between the two flourish.. The chemistry and the laughs with these two were on form.
Well developed protagonists and all the side characters were also a great edition. The story ended too quickly for me. I could have carried on reading about them.. I'm hoping we get more of them and the rest of the gang..
This author always manages to draw me in from the first page. Jacob always managers to bring the best banter from his character’s. I absolutely loved Nina and Travis together. Their story is fun, kept me turning the pages, laughing and loving every second of their story. I do love a grumpy/ sunshine man. This is a well written story that flowed beautifully. It had me hooked from the beginning to the very end.
So glad Jacob Chance decided to try something new for him as an author. I loved Travis and Nina from the moment they crossed paths and how things changed between them throughout the book. Loved hos protective Travis was. So much fun banter. Loved the steam, the swoony moments, all of it. Really hope Travis's brothers get books too!
A sweet, sexy, sassy, funny, book full of humor and great banter. Nina is a city girl and a bit of a walking disaster and Travis is the one who ends up rescuing her each time. This is a slow burn romance but worth it. The relationship between Travis and his brothers is on point and hilarious! This book made me laugh and swoon - great read!
Was looking forward to reading this from Jacob. He always knows how to bring the fun into his reads and giving his characters the swoony, sweet and funny. I loved Nina and Travis, they complimented each other well. It was fun to read and I wanted more. If you want a fun light read to end your summer, this is your book.
Enjoyable but I feel like more could have been added at the end. It ended a bit abruptly. What happened when Nina went back to NYC? Did she see her brother or Dad? What did Nina’s family think about her leaving the family business/moving away? Did Irene meet any of the brothers? Maybe Irene’s story will be another book…
This is a cute sexy story. Nina is wanting to get away from her family company ht doesn’t see her worth. She decides to take a summer vacation last minute to small town on the coast. Travis is harbor master who finds her stranded on island. The chemistry and snarky comments. This story has it all fun beach and sexy man.
