Henry Bins only gets one hour awake a day. This week, he's going to make it count!
Step into the world of 14-year-old Henry Bins as he navigates his teenage years in the neon-soaked landscape of 1994, where pagers beep, dial-up internet whirs, and grunge music reigns supreme!
Henry Bins has a rare sleep disorder where he's only awake for sixty minutes a day, from 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. His meticulously regimented life—three minutes to shower, five minutes to eat, seventeen minutes of school, four minutes to play Zelda—is turned upside down when his dad leaves for a week-long cruise.
Just days into his newfound freedom, Henry's carefully structured hour explodes into adventure after a chance encounter with the audacious and beautiful Alice leads to the discovery of an abandoned puppy and a suspicious puppy mill.
As they team up to care for the mischievous pup, Trout, and work to shut down the cruel operation, Henry and Alice stumble upon a web of secrets involving her father—the principal of the local high school—and a shady new technology company. With each precious minute ticking away, they find themselves entangled in a high-stakes game of corruption, daring escapes, and a first crush that makes Henry's heart race faster than his limited time.
With the help of Alice's best friend Nicole and her brother Greg—or "Cipher" as the teenage hacker insists on being called—they embark on a mission to expose the truth before time runs out.
Full of heart-pounding adventure, first love, late-night daring, unbreakable friendship, and '90s nostalgia, Teen Henry 1994 is a hilarious and heartfelt coming-of-age mystery that is a bold reminder that sixty minutes is all it takes to change everything.
Nick Pirog is the bestselling author of the Thomas Prescott series, the 3:00 a.m. series, and The Speed of Souls. He lives in South Lake Tahoe with his other half, Stephy, and their pup, Potter.
I rarely write reviews — like, almost never — but this one deserves it... okay, Nick Pirog Deserves it.
I’ve read/listened to everything available that Nick has written, and somehow, every time, I end up completely hooked. The stories, pacing, humor, and characters all fit together
Nick’s writing style is unique, and he always manages to make his characters feel real. There’s something satisfying about being back in his world again,
And the narration — just awesome. The voice work brings the story to life perfectly, as always.
If you’ve read Nick’s other books, this one absolutely delivers. If you haven’t — start here, but be warned: you’ll probably want to binge the rest.
Henry can get into an awful lot of trouble in just the one hour a day he's awake.
I adore this series and I get such a kick out of each new book that comes out. It's exciting, fast paced, and weirdly believable given the premise and the crazy things that happen to this guy. You'd think it would get boring following a character who spends 23 hours a day asleep and has to ration the precious seconds it takes to microwave his food. If he's lucky, someone has already put toothpaste on his toothbrush.
But chapter after chapter Henry leaves me on the edge of my seat as he falls asleep just as something big is happening, occasionally having to find a hiding place where he'll be safe until he wakes up the next day...at exactly 3:00 am.
Teen Henry is precocious and a tad rebellious when given the chance, so when his dad leaves him to go on a cruise all heck breaks loose. Playing Zelda for 97% of his day is thrilling enough, but now he's made friends???
I loved this book from beginning to end. Who could imagine being awake just one hour a day every day and that's it?! Imagine having to cram everything you want to do into such a small window of time. It sure would make a person really think about what is considered important in their life. Enter Henry and his life of one hour a day. Join him in his adventure as a 14-year-old teenager who is actually having to live this way. Follow Henry in his adventures in this fast-paced novel. There's never a dull moment.
This is not what I expected for the next Henry Bins adventure….. it’s way better! Getting to read about Henry in 1994 was genius. The memories of dial up internet and the “great computers” that by today’s standards are ridiculously archaic. I loved every second of it. I was 22 in 1994 but I remember things from then as if it were just last year. Thank you for such a great book!
Henry Bins is one of my all time favorite characters and this episode is absolutely amazing! It is well written and I totally enjoyed the reminders of 1994 ‘technological marvel’s’. It was wonderful to read about Henry making friends and be able to be a teenager for a bit. I highly recommend the entire series.
It's hard to write a reveiw but I thought I would give it a shot. In this book it is about Henry Binns as a teenager and what shenagins he gets into with his friends. If you love the 3:00 am series you will love this. Great book Mr. Pirog keep writing love them all.
This is like a high tech Famous Five, four characters Henry, Alice, Greg and Nicole. You could say the fifth was the high tech computer that Greg had and the hacker aptitude he was so skilled at. There adventures within the hour that Henry was awake are thrilling and catastrophic with danger edging ever closer. You find yourself willing them on to succeed and bring down the culprits.
What a joy to read bout teen Henry Binz. I couldn't stop listening and was totally caught up in his story. I read the 3am Series and thought maybe this story wouldn't be as good. I was never so glad to be disappointed. The story was fast-paced, interesting and so much fun! Looking forward to more!
Anyone that has read the Henry Bins 3:00 a.m. series will love young Henry. The story has everything from humour, young romance and mystery. I look forward to more in this series.
I loved this so much. I had trepidation going in, teen boys are not usually my genre of books. However, this was just pure Henry and his one hour a day universe. The characters are written so well, it doesn't matter the age, you just want to go on the journey with them.
I literally devour the Henry Bins books, and this one was every bit as good as grownup Henry. It was fun reliving 1994 technology, clothing and music too.
