Nothing is as it seems.

The Giving Season has ended, but the onset of winter hasn’t brought Wren peace. The king is still after her, and he has more reason than ever to want her dead. In possession of magic she shouldn’t have, she’s desperate to flee the capital.

There’s just one person who can help Gabriel Moreau, the Hunter who chased Wren across the country, duty-bound to bring her to justice. Forced to make the most difficult decision he’s ever faced, Gabriel chooses to break his oath and vows anew to protect Wren. Now, he too will be hunted.

Together, Wren and Gabriel race across the kingdom to escape the king’s wrath. But the cost of safety is steep, and life on the run is more dangerous than ever. Even with the Hunter by her side, their bond growing stronger with each obstacle, Wren is all too aware that everything, especially the notion of safety, is a lie.

This is book two in The Giving Chronicles, and it should be read after Given.

First of all, holy shit. I really enjoyed this book, it took off nicely following the first book, it gave a lot of depth to the characters and showed growth since Given. It had my heart racing at moments and had me so stressed.

I've just finished and I am just staring at the wall just before midnight knowing I have to wait god knows how long for the third book.

I definitely recommend this book and am so grateful for having the opportunity to read it so early.

Elayna has done it again!! Hunted kept me on my toes from the very start. This is definitely a long, drawn-out Enemies to Lovers story, with a little bit of forced proximity and a LOT of yearning!! You’ll be rooting for Gabe and Wren by the end of it for sure! I cannot wait to find out what happens to our Hunter and his little Bird in the next book! (Spice level: 0.5/5)

ARC Review-
Firstly I want to say a massive thank you to Elayna and her team for giving me the opportunity for an ARC read. I am writing this review every few chapters so be warned: Spoilers ahead!

Picking up immediately where Given left off, the initial first few chapters of Hunted were fast paced and what a great way to start a book off.

Wren’s hatred of running is something I really enjoyed and related to in the first book and believe me, it’s still there! The relatable humour is still very much present throughout.

Elayna wasn’t kidding when she wrote about the yearning within this book and oh boy. They are YEARNING! In the initial few chapters, when it appears that something is going to happen between Wren and Gabriel, the fact that whenever you think something is about to happen, they’re interrupted! The ‘will they, won’t they’ element is only adding to the yearning further. Some spicy scenes, some closed door ones and honestly, the plot outshines it all.

The book is so beautifully written that I am absolutely now in my book-hangover era.. again. Like I am every time I read one of Elayna’s works. I am in complete and utter awe of Wren and Gabriel and have absolutely fallen in love with these characters, their development and personalities are something I just adore. I love these characters multiple POVs of Wren and Gabe (and another whom shall stay nameless)

The plot twists within this book.. no notes - but I won’t delve into them on fear of ruining the book! But be warned everyone, you’re in for a wild ride!

Roll on the next book!

I will start this review by saying I was provided an e-ARC in exchange for this review. Thank you so much to Elayna and her team for allowing me to read yet another of her books early, it’s such an honour.

I loved this book. It constantly had me wanting to skip ahead to find out what happens. I cried in bed at 3am while I read this book. I procrastinated finishing it because I didn’t want it to end.

I enjoy this story more than I enjoyed the first book, Given. First of all, way less running. The relationships develop beautifully between the characters are the story unfolds, giving me the context that I lacked. It made me fall in love with them, and want to be apart of this world. It was a great escape.

A story of what the power of love is truly capable of, indeed.

Now I mourn the end and patiently wait for the next book.

Review of ARC

This is a 2.5 ⭐️ read for me.

I reread Given before diving into this sequel.

I'm really gripped by the plot and concept, but for me there's some things missing in the execution that make this a really frustrating read.

First things first. I'm here for the romance and I was able to get behind Wren and Gabriel's love story. However, this is a considerably long book that was marketed as a slow burn romance full of yearning, when in reality I didn't understand why the couple waited until 80% into the book to consummate their love. From the beginning they have strong feelings for each other, there's forced proximity and plenty of opportunity, Wren isn't made out to be a maiden waiting for one's true love... so why draw it out for 80% of the book? I mean, they clearly want to do it!!! It didn't make sense to me.

That brings me to my next point. For such a long book, nothing much happens other than Wren and Gabriel not getting together. Until the last 20% of the book where they get together and a cliff hanger for the next book is introduced.

Some final remarks...
- regardless of the descriptive intimate scenes and the random f-bombs thrown in for good measure, this does read more like YA. I personally don't have an issue with this
- for fantasy lovers, the magic system takes a back stage. And I mean really far back...
- there was a general lack of complexity in world building, in character building, in plot devices

I really wanted to love this book and series more 💔

I was thrilled to be chosen as an ARC reader for this book, Elayna is one of those authors where I devour her words whilst worrying that the end of the book is fast approaching, but I can't bring myself to slow down! I've read everything shes published. The book starts where book 1 (Given) ends, and keeps the pace, I felt connected to the main characters and invested in how their story's were developing... I REALLY need book 3 because this ended leaving me with questions and worries about their fates!!

Full disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. No spoilers, just thoughts!

First of all, I want to share my thoughts while reading this book:
Ugh! Running again, why? - I honestly felt this to my core and love that Elayna conveyed such a well placed hate for running.
Excuse me ma'am - honestly why do we have to go through this... so many times I thought this!
Oh My Heart! (followed with the chest clutch) - seriously Wren and Gabe are adorable and I love them together. I am thoroughly invested in their love story.
No! Just NO! - I wasn't ready for some of those twists and turns and honestly slightly hated them.

ARC Review: Hunted by Elayna R. Gallea

Hunted delivers exactly what it promises: yearning—and a lot of it. This YA, leaning fantasy romance leans heavily into emotional tension, and it absolutely works. The slow, thoughtful character development allows the relationship to unfold in a way that feels genuine, layered, and deeply earned.

What stood out most to me was the depth of the connection between Wren and Gabe. Both carry trauma and have been shaped by lies throughout their lives, which creates a foundation of mistrust at the start. Not to mention the fact he was literally Hunting her in Given. Watching them gradually work through that. Learning to understand one another, to communicate, and eventually to rely on each other, was incredibly satisfying. Their relationship feels intentional and rooted in growth, which made the budding romance all the more impactful. Although, I may have yelled for them to just collide physically... a few times!

The emotional intensity is real! There were multiple moments where I had to pause and just sit with what was happening because I could feel where things were headed, and my heart wasn’t ready. That kind of investment is a testament to how well the author builds tension and attachment.

I also really appreciated how the story picks up right where Given left off. It creates a seamless continuation and allows readers to stay fully immersed in the characters’ journeys without missing a beat. Both Wren and Gabe develop a strong sense of self, which adds another layer of realism and depth to their arc.

The romance itself leans more toward emotional intimacy than physical. The spice is on the lower side, but it doesn’t feel lacking. I would rate it at 2/5. Instead, the focus on longing, trust-building, and emotional vulnerability makes it feel refreshing. The characters are allowed to develop a true relationship before physically coming together and honestly it felt natural when they did. I appreciate that kind of writing as it felt more true.

If I had one critique, it’s that I wanted more from the magical world-building. There are hints of deeper lore, especially around the mating bond and lost histories, that felt just out of reach. I’m really hoping the next installment dives further into those elements and expands the world in a more detailed way. I'd love to see more detail about the magic in this world.

Overall, Hunted is a beautifully written, emotionally driven continuation that excels in character work and romantic tension. I’m very much looking forward to book three and the deeper exploration of the world and its mysteries.

I am hoping in book three we get more spice, a better feel of the magical world and a HEA. I feel like Wren and Gabe deserve it.

Thank You Elayna and team for giving me an opportunity to read this story and offer my opinions. I know I'll have to wait for the third book in this series and the wait is going to feel like an eternity!

Advance Reader Review

This is an honest review of Hunted by Elayna R. Gallea.

I was thrilled to receive an advance copy of Hunted. I read Given, the first book in the series, a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it. Having also read a few of Elayna R. Gallea’s earlier works, I went into this book with high expectations—and I’m pleased to say many of them were met.

After finishing Given, one of the things I was most looking forward to was seeing more development between the two main characters, Wren and Gabe. On that front, this book definitely delivers. The story places a strong focus on their relationship, which I thoroughly enjoyed as a fan of character-driven romance. That said, at times it did feel as though the overarching plot took a slight pause to allow for this deeper exploration of their connection.

I particularly appreciated the recap at the beginning of the book. With the gap that often exists between releases, it’s not always possible to revisit previous instalments, so this was a thoughtful and helpful addition.

Chapter One picks up exactly where the first book left off and immediately dives into the action, maintaining that momentum for much of the story. Around the three-quarter mark, I did feel the pacing slow slightly; however, rather than detracting from the story, I found that it actually enhanced it by allowing for more emotional depth and character development.

As mentioned, this book is very much centred on Wren and Gabe and the progression of their relationship. While the main plotline from the first book takes a bit of a back seat, I suspect this is intentional and with the main plot being further developed in the third instalment now that their bond has been firmly established. I can understand that this approach may not appeal to everyone, but I personally enjoyed the focus. There is still enough progression to keep the story moving, and it sets the stage well for what’s to come.

I also enjoyed the inclusion of several chapters from King Andreas’s point of view. His perspective offers a compelling contrast to the main characters and adds depth to the narrative. It was particularly interesting to see events unfold from the antagonist’s side, and I hope this continues in future books.

One issue I noted in Given was the frequent and sometimes disorienting time jumps. While time progression is, of course, necessary, it occasionally felt abrupt. I was pleased to see that this was handled much more smoothly in Hunted, making the transitions feel more natural and less noticeable.

One of my favourite aspects of the story involved the secret Gabe keeps from Wren regarding his connection to the King—a detail readers are already aware of from Given. I won’t include spoilers, but while I anticipated how this revelation might unfold, Wren’s reaction genuinely surprised me. It felt both realistic and thoughtfully written, and I think the author handled this moment exceptionally well.

Overall, I really enjoyed Hunted—and that ending… I can’t believe it left off there! I’m already looking forward to Book Three.

If you’ve enjoyed Elayna R. Gallea’s other works, I would definitely recommend giving this series a try. In my opinion, this is shaping up to be one of her strongest series yet.

Favourite Quote:
“I’ve been smiling for hours, a wholly inappropriate reaction after having killed someone earlier. I can’t help myself.”

I Hate to give this book 3 stars because I wanted to Love it so much. I absolutely love the storyline and the love story between Wren and Gabriel but there were a few things that just brought this book down for me personally.

Let me Start with what I love
**Protector MMC- I love that after everything they have gone through; he has realized that he will protect her at all costs.
**Fated Mates- I am a sucker for a fated mate
**Who did this to you- I love a who did this too you moment and this one is even better because it was Wren asking Gabe about his scars... I loved this moment.
**Slow Burn- I love a slow burn, but this one goes in both my like and dislike categories because I feel like in this book the slow burn was dragged out and was forced, it didn't feel natural.

Now on to my dislikes and what really brought my rating down :(
** Too much repetitive language. There are far too many situations where the same thing is being said but maybe slightly different... This book did not need to be 500 pages. Seriously.
** Profanity. Now... I am not saying I won't read a book with profanity because it normally doesn't have any influence on my rating, but this book felt like she sprinkled f*cks like confetti and it all felt forced and not natural for the characters. And then other times when it would have added emotion it was not there... It just felt very off to me??
** ALL THE DIFFERENT NAMES... I love a nickname; I do but the number of times that names switch up in this book had me lost. I started just replacing the nickname with the person's name. I just wanted Wren to call Gabe by his name... for the love, we know he was a Hunter but that's not who he is now. We also know she was Given, gods Blessed, Marked, you call her Birdie and little bird... Its too much!
** Forced Tropes: The slow burn and the One bed were not for me in this book. There was literally no reason for the slow burn, they were fated mates and it was all her. She didn't even know his big secret (which would have been a good way to extend the Slow Burn) until after they were together...

All that to say the book is good. It has some really good fast paced action but then there are times where the story is just so slow and drags on. There is good character development, but I do feel like we need more side characters developed. Everyone we met in this book fell a little flat for me, even Sky, I don't know enough about her. I want friendships and relationships outside the main two. I will still read book 3 because this one ends on a huge cliffhanger and I need to know the outcome.

Book Review: Hunted by Elayna R. Gallea

Holy wow-I just loved this book. Easily a five-star read.

First, I have to say how much I appreciated that Hunted by Elayna R. Gallea opens with a recap chapter summarizing the previous book and reminding readers where we left off. I absolutely loved this choice and truly believe every series should incorporate this into their installments. It made jumping back into the story seamless and immediately immersive. I was lucky enough to receive an eARC of this book from the author, and I truly hope this recap remains in the final copy.

This book picks up right where Given left off-in the middle of an intense fight scene between the King and the FMC, with her found family at her side and her twin sisters being used as leverage against her. The tension, heartbreak, and drama unfold immediately… and honestly? It’s so good.

Elayna is such a powerful fantasy writer-I will read anything she puts out. Her poetic descriptions of tension and yearning are everything I want from a romantasy. She has a way of capturing emotional intensity that makes every glance, every touch, every moment feel significant.

And the male POV? My favorite. Gabe’s love and desire for Wren are so powerful and unwavering. He definitely moved up on my all-time favorite book boyfriend list.

The story follows both the hunter and the hunted as they attempt to escape the King’s grasp and find refuge within a rebel community. Along the way, the FMC begins to realize she may not be as alone in this world as she once believed. At the same time, both main characters are forced to confront the reality that everything they thought they knew has been built on lies and deception.

The dynamic between the main characters is particularly compelling. Their chemistry builds gradually, making each interaction charged with meaning. Rather than relying solely on physical attraction, the relationship develops through conflict, vulnerability, and reluctant trust-and the physical relationship is a slow burn in the best possible way.

Beware of the cliffhanger ending, but book three is in the works and I CANNOT wait for it come out!

This book delivers tension, emotion, romance, and revelation in perfect balance. A truly unforgettable installment.

The Giving Season may be over, but Wren is far from free. Hunted draws us right back into the story of Wren, gods-blessed and marked, as she flees certain death at the hand of an evil, power-hungry king. At her side is the ruthless and handsome hunter, Gabriel, who has forsaken his sacred oath in order to save her. Could it be more than desperation and a shared enemy pulling Wren and Gabriel together? Hunted is a brilliant, high-stakes, magic-filled race against time - and against a king determined to see Wren destroyed!

This is the second installment in Elayna Gallea's enthralling series. She interacts thoughtfully with the political and religious bias set out by the king, clearly depicting the struggle the characters have when confronted with a reality that conflicts with the "truths" that have been shoved at them since birth. If we place ourselves in their shoes, we'd like to think we'd handle the situation with the same grace and bravery. But either way, Wren and Gabriel have been dealt a hand that required them to confront the religious and political indoctrination with their own moral convictions and lived experience. It covers mature themes and sensitive topics without stepping into dark fantasy territory. Again and again, this is proving to be a standout in the 'new adult' space and is perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout and Raven Kennedy.

Hunted absolutely delivers on our favorite romance + fantasy tropes:
- A Grand Escape
- Enemies to Lovers
- One Horse
- One Bed
- Slow Burn/Yearning
- "Who did this to you?"
- He Falls First

It's so important to have characters like Wren in today's stories. She is resilient and resourceful. Still gracious and conscious of the plight others face. Her life and mission remind us that people shouldn't be owned or sacrificed for someone else's gain or pleasure -- even as a display of power. If epic fantasy, searing romance, and thrilling adventure are your thing, then Elayna R. Gallea's The Giving Chronicles is the series for you! And thank you to Elayna for the opportunity to read this book early and share my honest thoughts!

This is the second installment in the Giving Chronicles trilogy and it is quite a ride. Or run, shall I say?

It picks up with Wren and Gabriel, our FMC and MMC, right on where book one left us hanging and immediately starts running. And we all know how much our FMC hates that particular activity. (Me too, Wren. Me too.)

It has everything - enemies to lovers, action, heartbreak, love, only one horse AND bed, and banter to have you laughing and kicking your feet aplenty. We also get multiple POV's including the villainous king this time around, which is a rare treat. Even if he is absolute scum.

Throughout the story, our characters struggle with the weight of who they are in the aftermath of book one. Wren with her magic that she never believed she had and the grief over all she's lost. While Gabriel wrestles with who he thought he was as a Hunter, who he was born as, and how both defined his life up until he met Wren.

As they both deal with the internal hardships and personal trauma, as well as the external issues that get thrown at them at constantly, they learn to trust each other and begin to explore their growing, mutual feelings. The way their relationship develops is beautiful and full of heart.

And with that growth, the slowest, most glacial burn I've read in most any series FINALLY pays off. With interest.

Overall, I loved this installment in the series. It did not suffer from the 'second book' syndrome that some do, this book delivered in every way that I could have asked for.

After all that, you do get another cliffhanger and it really hurts - but if you've read Elayna's other books, you should expect nothing less than maximum pain. Even so, I can't wait to see how this all plays out in the final book!

And for that long-awaited spicy pay off? I give it a tasty 🌶️🌶️.5

I'm one of the lucky folks that got to read this as an ARC, an opportunity I highly appreciate! I adore the author and so when this hit my inbox on Valentine's day, I startled everyone at work with my squealing. No joke. I had to explain myself to a few startled nurses, a nurse practitioner, our adorable housekeeping lady, and a very amused visitor.

Elayna Gallea’s Hunted is a beautifully written continuation of Wren and Gabriel’s story, drawing readers deeper into a world that feels both intense and immersive. Without giving away any details, this installment builds on the emotional and narrative foundation of the previous book, offering a story that is both gripping and deeply character driven. Gallea’s writing style stands out for its ability to balance tension with vulnerability, allowing readers to feel fully connected to the journey unfolding on the page. As the story reminds us, “some bonds aren’t chosen—they’re inevitable,” a theme that resonates throughout this book.
One of the strongest elements of Hunted is the evolving dynamic between Wren and Gabriel. Their relationship is layered, complex, and filled with moments that feel authentic rather than forced. This is a true slow-burn romance, and it is absolutely worth the wait. The emotional buildup makes the connection between the characters even more rewarding, and Gallea handles it with care and intention. Both characters are given space to grow individually, which adds even more depth to their relationship.
What makes this book especially compelling is the atmosphere Gallea creates. There is a constant sense of anticipation that keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end. The story unfolds in a way that feels natural yet unpredictable, making it difficult to put down. Overall, Hunted is gripping, romantic, and intense continuation of the series that will satisfy returning readers while leaving them eager for what comes next. I would give this book 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys emotional, character-driven stories with a slow-burn romance that truly pays off.

"Welcome back to Myreth and remember: Being Given is a blessing"

One thing I immediately loved about Hunted is the “Previously in the Giving Chronicles” recap at the beginning. I don’t think I’ve ever come across that in a book before. It’s such a small detail, but incredibly helpful if you’re not bingereading. The story picks up exactly where the last book left off, which made it really easy to get back into.

The characters continue to shine. I love both Wren and Gabriel, even if their stubbornness can be frustrating at times.
Their relationship is honestly one of my favourite parts of the book – the tension, the yearning, the emotional weight, all feel very natural, and I really enjoyed how much trust and support there is between them. They might honestly be one of my new favourite couples.
We also get more moments with Mist, which made me very happy! She is soo adorable.

The worldbuilding and magic system remain unique and intriguing, with just enough answers to keep things satisfying while still leaving me wanting more in the final book.

I was NOT expecting the additional POV, especially from , but it added an interesting layer to the story (interesting but not pleasant).
If I had one small critique, it’s that there’s a certain conversation I wish had happened earlier, but I did like how it was handled in the end.

The ending….I had some ideas about where things might go, but not that. Now I have absolutely no idea what to expect from the final book, and I need it as soon as possible.
Overall, such a whimsical and emotional read that I flew through way too quickly.

I received an ARC and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review

I was kindly sent a early preview copy of this book from the author & was hopeful that the story picked straight up from the first book.

First, yes it does & joy of joys, there's even a recap of the first book with a map. We literally pick up just after the end of book two. It is very similar to the first in that the main characters are on the run & avoiding capture. At least they are together this time & the story isn't following two journeys, though it is still told from multiple view points. The story ticks along to start & there are a lot of common tropes thrown in from 'one horse' to 'one bed' etc. I really enjoyed the middle part though when they get to where they are going, there it carries on at a fairly good pace.

This book is firmly set on the Romance side of Romantasy though. Yes, there's world building, but the story is so very much centred around how the characters feel about each other via inner monologues, which do repeat frequently. Their longing for each other is constant, even when together. I still don't feel I connected with either character anymore than the first book, mostly because their relationship is far too sweet for me & more like YA, but that is my own opinion. I did enjoy the addition of other characters though & would love to know more.

However, saying all this, the story is comfortingly familiar, so I know that no matter what happens, everything will work out. Even the end, cliff hanger or not, I know it will all be OK in the end. I look forward to reading the final book. I am hoping Wren actually stops self doubting & becomes the strong woman she needs to be.

I received this book as an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was also an ARC reviewer for the first book in the series, Given, and I have to say I enjoyed Hunted even more. While I thought book one was good overall, the beginning dragged a bit for me. Hunted felt much more balanced in its pacing, which made for a far more enjoyable reading experience.

The story itself was compelling, and I really felt the characters showed meaningful growth. In book one, Wren and Gabriel’s attraction felt a little too intense too quickly, which made it harder to fully believe in at first. In this installment, however, their connection felt much more natural and earned. There were several moments of genuine tension that had my stomach in knots. If a story can make me feel something visceral, it’s doing something right, and this one absolutely did.

I do have one major criticism, though: some of the fight scenes stretched realism too far for me. The confrontation with Hedran in particular felt difficult to believe in terms of what the human body could realistically endure, and it pulled me out of the story. If humans in this world were clearly established as having enhanced abilities, that would be one thing, but the level of endurance shown in those scenes didn’t seem consistent with most of the rest of the book where injuries and limitations felt more grounded. It may not bother everyone, but it stood out enough to break immersion for me.

That said, I still loved this book overall. And that ending, wow! I cannot wait for book three!

Review of advance copy received from Elayna R. Gallea & Podium Entertainment.

The journey continues for Gabriel & Wren. This time instead of being enemies, they're reluctant allies. This book had so much character development for Wren and Gabriel. While the first book was more about the chase as Wren runs away from Gabriel, this book is about the chase but its them running away from the King.

I cannot get over their journey as so much happens but with each situation, their relationships gets built stronger and deeper. There is a realness to this enemies to allies to lovers relationship. Its not like other books where poof, I'm head of heels for you. No, Elayna has them going through their relationship every time they are out of danger. The feelings just build and build until its such a beautiful relationship. The yearning in this book is crazy, it KILLS me every time! They're just so reluctant because of their past relationship with each other. There are so many oh so close moments, UGH!!

Elayna has this book filled with nonstop dangers, there is never a dull moment. In the Given (book 1), there was not much information on what a Given powers do or much about the history of it or why the King has the given gets sacrificed. We finally have more answers about everything. One thing that I feel we need to know more about is the Inherited unless Elayna is doing her usual, teasing me, until we get more information on this in the 3rd book.

This book does end with a cliffhanger of course. Like I said, Elayna is teasing us all! Can't wait for the next book!

ARC Review – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I received an ARC copy of Hunted by Elayna Gallea, and I am so grateful to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read and review this story early. Thank you for trusting me with it!

This book made me happy, sad, furious, hopeful. All of that within only a few chapters. The emotional depth is incredible. Wren’s internal conflict, especially when it comes to Gabriel, feels so raw and authentic. You feel every ounce of her confusion, longing, anger, and undeniable pull toward him. It’s messy in the most beautiful way.

And Gabriel? Absolute perfection. The tension between him and Wren is everything. The push and pull, the history, the restraint, the moments where you know they shouldn’t… but they absolutely should. I was completely invested.

Also, who doesn’t love an “only one bed” / “only one horse” trope? Forced proximity will forever have my heart, and this book delivers it flawlessly. The tension in those scenes is almost unbearable in the best way.

One of my favorite aspects is the writing itself. It’s so vivid and cinematic that it genuinely feels like watching a movie unfold in your mind. The world-building is immersive without being overwhelming, and every scene feels intentional and atmospheric.

If you love emotionally complex characters, intense romantic tension, and storytelling that completely pulls you in, Hunted needs to be on your TBR.

I cannot wait to see what comes next.

Honest review is full 5 stars!

Thank you so much to Elayna R. Gallea for the chance to ARC read Hunted!!

The story is told through a (mostly) dual POV from our FMC, Wren, and our MMC, Gabe. We get a few chapters form the POV of the King but they are scattered throughout. The spice picks up in this book compared to the first, feeling like a solid two out of 5 on my personal rating scale. We do get detailed moments between them, but the tension and yearning throughout makes to scenes feel very natural and not overly done and crude.

The journey Wren and Gabe go on is full of ups and downs, learning their new normal and figuring out how to move forward. There were multiple moments my heart just broke for Wren, especially as an older sister myself. The decisions she had to make regarding hers hit so hard.

I was glad to see the Mist was very fond of Wren so there was no loss between the bond Gabe and Mist share. I am very excited to see the continuation of this world and how they handle the king, but really, did we have to end like that??? My heart was pounding through the last few chapters, from the most joyful moments to our lowest point in a matter of mere blinks. Elayna is very good at giving us high suspense, heartbreaking cliffhangers that pull us in and leave us as wrecked as the characters themselves. Already chomping at the bit for more of Wren and Gabe's story!

It took me a few solid hours of procrastination before I finally opened Hunted. Why? I’m still not entirely sure. Maybe I was bracing myself for another emotionally chaotic cliffhanger. Maybe I just wasn’t ready.
But the second I started, I was gone.
I was completely consumed. I didn’t put it down — except for a few hours of sleep — and the moment I woke up, I picked it straight back up again. And I was not disappointed.
The slow burn? It is slow… but it is absolutely burning. The tension between Wren and Gabriel simmers in that delicious, almost unbearable way that keeps you glued to the page. And like most of Elayna’s books (and I’ve read nearly all of them), this one is so beautifully plot-driven. Every chapter had me thinking “okay but what happens next?” It’s impossible not to keep turning the pages.
This was everything I’d been waiting for since I finished Given. Watching these characters grow — without losing who they are at their core — is written so beautifully. Their development feels earned, authentic, and layered.
But alas… the ending.
The cliff is very much hanging.
And I have questions. So many questions. I am desperate for answers. I need to know what happens next, and I need it immediately.
If you’ve been waiting to continue Wren and Gabriel’s story — trust me — it’s worth it. Just be prepared to be left wanting more.

Oh how I’ve loved revisiting Myreth.

I’m not sure where to start. I personally just really enjoy this world and our two main characters.

Gabriel has to get Wren out of the kingdom and to safety after the king has promised to get her back for not being given. The two journey in hopes of finding someone(s) that may help keep her safe and out of the kings hands, but don’t have much to go on to find them. Along the way we see this bond grow and flourish between Wren and Gabe. The journey, both physical and emotional, between the characters is exactly what I was hoping to see happen.

One thing I have to write that is a *MILD SPOILER* to the character’s relationship so read on at your own risk!

I ADORED that Gabe’s big secret came out the way it did and not by someone dropping the bomb on Wren and having her feel betrayed because he lied. COMMUNICATION! My god, so many authors need to use that! It’s sexy as hell when a guy can own up to his stuff and trust/love his partner to be honest! Enough of the “I thought I was protecting you by not telling you” bull crap. Sharing is caring. I understand sometimes you may not be ready but if you truly love someone, talk to them about the big stuff!

Thank you to the author for a chance to ready an arc of Hunted. I loved getting to reread Given in preparation for this and CANNOT WAIT for the next book!

I would like to thank the author for the ARC. After the first book, I wrote that I felt that I was done with the love story and that it "felt" finished. I also wrote that I am looking forward to seeing how the plot will unfold. So, how do I feel about it now? Their love story moved on a bit. They figured out that they love each other, and they went on to solidify their relationship as mates. Read the book to see what that means. I expected that and there was no surprise when it comes to their love. For the most part of the book they are hiding and running away from the king, friendships develop, the plot doesn't move on that much. Then, the last fourth of the book happens. So, spoiler alert. Anyway, Gabriel comes up with the idea to bring her sisters, because of course she is on the run but needs to see them. The king finds them and of course captures the two sisters (who just cry) and Wren, of course, offers herself for their release. Well Gabriel jumps in, creates a diversion, and the book ends in him being captured and tortured by the king. There! Was I angry? Yes! Am I fed up with stupid sisters in books? Yes!!!! Anyway, the ending got me hooked (finally) so I can't wait for book three to see what happens with the person who came up with the stupid idea of bringing those two useless humans into the camp. Four stars because of those two whiners.

ARC Review: Hunted by Elayna R. Gallea ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

First—thank you for the ARC! This was one of my most anticipated reads, and it absolutely delivered on intensity, tension, and emotional payoff.

From the very first pages, Hunted throws you right back into the chaos—no slow easing in, just immediate stakes. That same gripping energy from Given is still here, but elevated. Wren is no longer just running… she’s running with purpose, with power, and with far more to lose.

This book leans hard into the tropes—and honestly, it does them so well:

🤝 Reluctant allies to lovers – Wren and Gabriel’s dynamic continues to evolve in such a satisfying way. The tension is real, and the trust is earned.

🛏️ Only one bed / one horse – The forced proximity? Immaculate. The emotional tension? Even better.

🛡️ “I’ll protect you” – Gabriel stepping into this role (and what it costs him 👀) adds so much depth to his character.

🔥 Slow burn (but it pays off) – And it really does. The connection builds through shared danger, vulnerability, and choice.

✨ Fated mates vibes – Whether literal or thematic, there’s an undeniable pull between them that keeps tightening with every chapter.

What I loved most is how this story expands beyond survival. Yes, they’re fleeing the king (and the stakes are higher than ever), but this book is just as much about relationships and communication. Wren and Gabriel are forced to confront not only the world around them—but each other. And that emotional honesty becomes just as important as any sword or spell.

Overall:
If Given hooked you, Hunted will pull you deeper. It’s more intense, more emotional, and more romantic in all the right ways. A fantastic continuation that balances action with heart—and leaves you desperate for what comes next.

📅 Releases July 7, 2026 — add it to your TBR now.

This second book in The Giving Chronicles did not let me down. We jump right into where Wren and Gabriel were at the end of the first book. And yes, there will be running. I am with Wren on the running thing, its the worst, she did better than I would have been able to.
In this story Gabriel makes his choice and Wren doesn't quite know why its her.
These two characters have taken all of me. Neither knows what is going on between them, but it is burning. Gabe definitely falls all the way first and his love for Wren smolders in the best way.
Gabe is fighting to get Wren to some kind of safety and Wren just doesn't know why and all she sees is that she is cursed. I feel her pain. This book and these characters have evolved from the first book, which was great. But this is what you want in a story, characters and story line maturing every time you pick it up to read.
I barely wanted to finish the last few chapters knowing that a giant cliff was in my future, but I jumped and now I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next whirlwind of Wren and Gabriel.
Big thanks to Elayna and her team for this ARC. Every book Elayna writes pulls me in and I am there for it.
I am waiting, impatiently, for the next.

This second book in the series picks up right where the previous left off.

Wren is on the run after saving her sisters. She’s faced devastating losses, but having to rely on who first appeared to be her sworn enemy forces Wren to see things through a different lense.

This was full of all things that I love in a Romantasy.

⭐️ one room
⭐️ one horse
⭐️ tension, oh the tension!
⭐️ adventure
⭐️ found family
⭐️ spice level 🌶️🌶️

I loved the dynamic between Wren and Gabe. He very quickly completely endeared himself to me. We learn a lot about his past due to the multiple POVs, which was pretty harrowing at times. The angst between the two of them, was top tier! So much tension!!

Wren continues to learn more about herself and that things she long since believed are maybe not quite all as it seems. Loved the blossoming friendships she makes along the way. The plot was actioned packed as always and I found myself completely engrossed! That ending oh that ending, it left me with my heart in my throat that’s for sure!

I was lucky enough to have received an ARC copy of this book which I am so grateful for! Can’t wait for the next one!

I received an arc copy of this book for my honest review.

Let me just start with saying that I did love this book. It kept me on my toes and every time I put it down, I couldn't wait until I could pick it up again! The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is just the repetition and it was missing just that one little "unique" aspect to it. It had all of the very common romantasy tropes, but it was done very well.
I have read some of Elayna R. Gallea books before and was super excited to be chosen to get an arc of this second book in the series because I really loved Given and could not wait to get back into the story of Wren and Gabriel.
The story starts off with exactly where we left off in Given. The FMC really starts to come into her own and realize that she is a bada**. And Gabriels feelings really start to come through and show exactly how hard he has fallen for her. They finally start to realize what is between them and he gives her the freedom of choice, which she has never had before.
Secrets that could change them forever come to light, and it ends on one heck of a cliffhanger! I am so upset that I am going to have to wait for the next book in this series!

Overall, this was a good and entertaining read. The pacing was mostly solid, and we continue to learn more about Wren and Gab, along with their new companions. As always, Elayna writes a strong love story, and that aspect unfolds beautifully throughout the book.

That said, I kept wanting more depth and more intention behind certain moments. A lot of the story stayed surface level, especially when it felt like it could have gone a bit deeper emotionally or thematically.

The time jumps also threw me off at times. There were quite a few one week later transitions, and instead of feeling natural, they broke up the flow and pulled me out of the story more than they moved it forward.

One consistent highlight for me was the chapter titles. Elayna does this so well. They give just enough insight without spoiling anything, and the running theme always makes me smile when it pops up.

And that ending. Completely unexpected. The cliffhanger got me good and absolutely locked me in for the next book.

I was hovering around a 3.75 for most of the read, but the ending bumped it up to a solid 4 since I genuinely did not see it coming.

need a causal 5-star book review of Hunted by Elayna R. Gallea... Book 2 in the Giving Chronicles... did not disappoint. Gabriel, the king's personal hunter, has searched high and low for Wren, his little bird. He has her and now doesn't want to turn her over to the king. He will stop at nothing to protect her from the world that only wants her magic. He's desperate to find the rebels to protect her. Tensions are high for both of them. Gabriel wants to chase her, and Wren has to run to protect herself... Being caught will lead to being "Given" over to the king for her magic. The push and pull between Wren and Gabriel is palpable throughout the story... Favorite quote. "I don't want to keep my distance any longer. I life my head and tip forward, closing the space between us. I need a taste, so, I kiss him." Quote that says everything "Anger is sharp and bitter in the back of my mouth. For the first time in my life, I am glad I am my father's son. The fury rushing through my veins and the revenge in my heart are my birthright. I am dying to get my hands on book three. Gallea did not disappoint.

I received this book as an ARC from the author, for a true honest reivew.
