This story is rather unconventional, not to mention the somewhat unusual title. I loved the fact that the mystery element comes to play from the very beginning. Now, I won’t be discussing the summary in my review, but I’ll be pointing out the pros and cons of this story.

I’ll start with the things that I liked. I enjoyed reading those short poems before the start of a new chapter, though I have to ask why they weren’t there for the last few chapters?
I loved the protagonist, Puneet; his cute and frank narration, his tendency to romanticize his interactions with Myra, his self-deprecating sense of humour and his awkwardness adds to his charm. I found myself smiling and enjoying his story so much that before I knew it, I'd lost count of the pages. And, of course, I adored Rishi. The conversations between him and Rishi were all so very amusing, and quite poignant at times. It was nice to see a ten year old pulling the hero's chain and giving him instructions to win over girls or the girl, as the case might be.

I've seen many debutante authors write in an excessively careful way, so conscious they are about describing every little detail, that it often makes me forget to enjoy the story. This was, however, not the case in here. I rather relished the story, the writing felt quite informal to me (I know it's a suspense novel and I'm supposed to feel thrilled, but the narration, somehow, felt so informal and engaging that I was intrigued as well as attracted to it).

I also noticed a few descriptions that seemed rather odd to me. For example, “There was nothing about her face to adore, and yet she was adorable.” This one made little sense to me, I mean, by saying that there was nothing about her face to adore, was he implying that she wasn’t good-looking?
And then this sentence: “Her magic wand was her hair locks.” Comparing hair locks with magic wand seemed plain weird to me. Also, “Her fragrance had an amazing mood refreshing and nostril attracting magic.” I’m very sure there is nothing attractive about nostrils.

In most mystery novels, I'm able to have at least a little idea of what's happening, but this one kept making me go in circles and I was both frustrated and intrigued as to what the conclusion would be. Also, I did not expect any preternatural element, but it sure made the story more interesting.
So this sums up my thoughts about the first part of the story.

On to the second part of the story, and I’ll just say that this could have been a 4-5 stars story only if it continued in the same vein as the first half.
I’d advise anyone under the age of 18 to stay away from the spoilers. Also, it does contain actual spoilers so anyone who is planning to read the book also stay away.

All in all, the first half of the plot was really good, but then it went downhill. The execution of the second half was so very weak, even if I believe erasing 2-3 years of memories by hypnotism is possible (without serious side-effects and isn't that violation of human rights?) and that all the supernatural phenomena described in the book is also entirely believable.

My thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hey dad! Meet my Mom...
From the title itself Mystery starts an apt title.

It is a mixture of various genres. Humour, Suspense and Romance a power packed which makes you to read in single flow.

Both the authors made all the mix and given what is required, somewhere it makes you smile and somewhere it makes you cry too.

I think revealing this story is sin, recommended for all whatever genre you read but cannot ignore this.

A new fictionalized story from two young authors, a different try. May be this would hit the box office if it is made as film.

As in blurb, "Make sure you don't forget to expect the unexpected".

What will u do if a child comes and claims that he is your future son ....?
The book was a page turner. I read this book within 4 hours.
.
Hey dad meet my mom is the amalgamation of love , friendship, humour and mystery.
.
The plot is so unusual and unique. There is romance and thriller in the blend. Both mixed in appropriate proportions. Unlike the stale romance where protagonists meet , fight and fall in love, this plot has love running in different directions. All directions reaching a common destination
.
At a fine morning the boy Rishi comes and sits on his stomach and wake up puneet from his sleep and tell him that he comes here to help his dad to meet his mom.
What will happend after that ..?
.
After reading this book you will feel as if someone has left you alone for some time, especially when Rishi finally lefts!!
Just imagine, you are single and suddenly one day a ten year old boy comes to you tell that he is your son!! And that also “Future Son”. What will be the reaction of yours!!!
.
Of course you need to find everything what the boy was telling..
You should definitely read this book.!💯

Hey Dad!Meet My Mom was an interesting read.We follow Puneet, our protagonist who is leading a normal life with a steady job until one day he starts to see his future son,Rishi. No one else other than him could see Rishi. At first,it seem bizzare and crazy getting instructed by kid who could read his very thoughts about everything. Puneet starts dating a girl named Myra and finally feels he's ready to settle down as he has found the one. But something is holding him back on that thought, stopping him to make a decision. Little did he realize his way to have a future is through the past that was left incomplete.

This was a perfect blend of funny and mystery.I know you must questioning "how is that possible?" But that's how felt while i was reading this book. A story where past is the answer to the future and all pending questions. The concept sounded so cool and it had me hooked right from the first page. The plot and the characters were well executed.

A word of caution:- The following review is a tad too long and contain spoilers in rich amount. So, if you are one of those who prefer a brief and quick peep into the story, you will be thoroughly disappointed but if you are looking for a detailed and candid analysis, you are in the right place :-)
Simple, Honest and Touching
These three words echoed in my mind as soon as I finished reading the much awaited novel. The varying emotions-be it humor, utter grief or sheer depth of love and sacrifice or be it the underlying incomprehensible strength of a lady- all these pangs of strife captures the essence of this exemplary piece of writing.
Since the beginning, a feeling of deja vu hovered around my mind. The novel surely bears some stark resemblance to some of the all time blockbuster flicks. The scene where Roshni is lying dead and her mortal body is consumed by fire reminds me of the opening of 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. The way in which Puneet's firm link with the two females- one being Myra and another Roshni , his dream girl , is portrayed bears a significant similarity with another SRK stuff 'Dil Toh Paagal Hai' where the figment of imagination being Maya (Madhuri Dixit). I was even able to relate with Aamir starrer 'Talaash' upto some extent in terms of the mysterious elements involved as Rishi and Roshni and the inexplicable circumstances where they relentlessly show up and fades off.
However, there were few things which completely put me off. Lets put the first things first. The same uninspiring life of Puneet, his monotonous dreams (or more aptly the nightmares) , his psychological conflicts, his ephemeral vision of Rishi, the unproductive tactics employed by Myra to overcome his psyche issues - in short , the first half is unnecessarily stretched too long which made it sound a bit dull, boring and losing its charm soon. The physical description of Roshni and Rishi is not given much heed. I craved for a much more clear depiction of both these characters who were the most integral part of the story. I feel that the sense of belonging , the intrinsic capability of a reader to aptly visualize the protagonists, the inherent trait of humans to identify themselves with the characters and flow with the pace of novel- all these little but essential elements which makes a story an enriching experience were by and large missing and are not given due weightage.
The literary elements or precisely the language could have been much more gripping as many reviewers pointed out. In order to engage the young readers more, every now and then the unnecessary inclusion of intimate scenes were a big put off for me. Not even a single one of these looked justified especially the reconciliation scene of Puneet and Roshni at the latter's house which was immediately followed by some physical intimacy while I was expecting a much more emotional and heart-throbbing scene. How Puneet found Roshni's diary is still a secret :-p . Last and perhaps the most noticeable blunder on the part of author is the way the novel ended abruptly. The climax is though well crafted but the description of those three kids- Kiara, Adi and Riya is not properly dealt with. I would have felt a real connect if the duo of Puneet and Myra take custody of tiny tots or something sensible of such sort. I even felt that the family of each Puneet , Myra and Roshni deserved a special and comprehensive mention. The novel could have easly been 200 odd pages had they spent more time in developing Myra-Puneet plot, took considerable interest in Maya's role and displayed immense concern in the whereabouts of children.
Besides, all these loopholes , authors can definitely boast of providing a twisting and thrilling touch to the narration, unlike most of the stuffs today which comprise of a stale plot revolving just around the romantic tale of protagonists ,serving no other purpose. The imagination and the creativity with which the poems are woven are just spot on.
The novel is full of 'masala' and scepticism- perfect ingredients for a bollywood flick. The second half is very well paced and much more engaging. The scene where Rishi and Roshni bid farewell to Puneet by waving hands symbolize supreme sacrifice and needless to say, it was the most heartfelt moment for me. Having said that, the author reserved the best part to the last in the form of super cute snap of Sandeep bhaiya :-p and the remarkable feats of Leepi di.
It is tough to digest the fact that it is a debut novel with the kind of potential these budding writers have displayed. They certainly seem to have a really promising future. I wish them loads of luck and sincerely hope that they will setup new trends & milestones and come out with flying colors with all there future endeavors.
PS- Apologies for a really long and a bit harsh review.

Originally reviewed in detail at Musings Over Nothing

I liked the way the story began and that the suspense was built up till the very end. There was nowhere that the book lagged in pace or want of depth in the characters (for a short book). The romantic episodes between Puneet and Myra were realistic enough and maybe cute to an extent. For a 10 year old kid, Rishi does know too much - I would probably have cringed to discuss my love life, much alone take advises from a kid claiming to be my son - that too one that noone else could see. I could sympathize for Puneet that Rishi could read his mind.

On the other hand, I felt the author had too much on the plate for 160 page novel. What started out as a time travel or paranormal story turned out to be a love story, hypnotism, drugs, ragging, holy men, adopted kids - too many themes and extremely sharp turns which made it look like author was unclear with the direction of the story and as though the ending was hurried. Cliched and completely unnecessary characters like a long haired stranger from the streets asking him to chase his dreams could have very well been avoided.

Writing an intimate scene is supposedly harder than others, but I should confess no other book made me cringe reading as this one, especially crude and unpolished phrases like "cried like hell" and "the slightly hairy organ between the legs". In fact the entire scene could have been done away with, and no on would have missed a thing. Better none than a half baked scene. It puts any reader off to find any typos or spelling error while reading the book, how much ever the story might be good and interesting.

Bottomline: If you wanna pick up an easy read through with Bollywood feel - try this out. - See more at: http://musings-over-nothing.blogspot....

This book is total entertainment package....From Puneet's Dreams and Maya's supportive nature to Rishi's crazy yet so "cute" acts.. From Myra's selfless love and unconditional friendship to Mrs.Bina's "over protective motherly care"....From Roshini's sacrifices to Mr.Shrivastava's vicious "Political" acts, this book is surely a page turner and a perfect entertainment ride starting with fun and laughter on its 1st station than take us to the romance and love junction and ends up giving u "goosebumps" and a big lesson through many twist and tales...

“Right since childhood, the world in which we live teaches us to bury our bad past somewhere deep inside us and just move on. So deep, that even we can’t possibly dig it back out.”

Hey Dad! Meet My Mom by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agarwal is a romantic thriller with amalgamation of mystery, humor and psychology. Has it ever happened that a child enters your life claiming that he is your son? Is the child your imagination or is he genuinely a ghost? That is the very moment when you start doubting your own mental abilities. What if the child helps you find a mother for him? People can easily erase our past memory but the visions often tend to haunt us like the worst nightmares of our lives.

Blurb:

Right since childhood, the world in which we live teaches us to bury our ‘bad’ past somewhere deep inside us and just move on. So deep, that even we can’t possibly dig it back out. What happens when you eventually start doubting his intentions? What happens when a girl starts turning your dreams into nightmares? What happens when your ‘future son’ starts haunting you? What happens when your FUTURE starts bleeding into your PRESENT through your PAST?

Review:
The story starts on a note of suspense in which Puneet seems to be struggling with his past life and present life. The starting of the book was as good as it’s ending. There was an equal balance between the past and present. The cover, title as well as the blurb was very fascinating and catchy. The story was undoubtedly gripping as it offered lots of twists and turns. The story was so gripping that I finished I book in a single go that too in during my examinations. The narrative style has enabled the reader to connect to the main characters of the story and sympathize with Roshni and Rishi at the end. So grab your copy now of Hey Dad! Meet My Mom and enjoy the roller coaster ride.

First of all thank you very much leepi and and seep for writing such story! While reading HDM3 I cried, I laughed, I smile unknowingly.. All that happened only because of power of words and feelings you two poured in the book.

I literally asked Sandeep and Leepi that if they have any kid. Because Rishi was sitting beside me when I finished the book.
You guys have magical power of words to grab readers..

This book is a one of its kind with the story line which you would have not guessed it. Being authored by two authors - Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal, the story will keep you guessing till the end.

Puneet was the protagonist of the story who had great looks and a well paid Bank Manager job. He falls in love with a girl called Myra. He also has good friendship with Maya.

When things were about to get materialised with his engagement with her, Puneet sees his son Rishi who arrived from the future. You might ask if this is a Sci-Fi story. This isn't one but yes, he sees his son who talks and converses with him. Infact it is this son Rishi who made Puneet fall in love with Myra but now he wants his dad's decision to be reversed.

Why?

When Puneet tries to find out the reason, he stumbles upon a secret which was hidden from him for more than 10 years. What was he secret? Did Puneet and Myra ended up marrying each other is the story.

The story has some god logic and has never deviated from it. The events that takes place has complimented it really well in all the places it deserved. It would satisfy your expectation of reading a story which differs from others.

Everything about the book, from its title to the summary, is quirky. When the author contacted us for a review, I was drawn by the title, the colour scheme of the cover page and also the bold summary. Hey Dad! Meet my Mom… looked like just the book I would want to read, away from the run of the mill romances and thrillers.

The story is the first person narrative of Puneet, a bank officer who meets a girl in his bank and falls in love immediately. But he is unsure of how to approach women. All of a sudden, a small boy comes into his vision and calls him… yes, you got that right, ‘Dad’! The unmarried Puneet is naturally confused and shocked. But slowly he realises that the little boy, Rishi is here to help him find his future wife, that is, Rishi’s mom.

The trials Puneet faces, with Rishi constantly being in his presence and supplying hints to get girls is an attempt at comedy that brings a mild grin to our faces. Very soon, everyone around Puneet finds his behaviour strange and his mother starts worrying about his sanity. Rishi is visible only to Puneet’s eyes and supplies hints only heard by him. He slowly starts liking Rishi and his fondness and bonding grows as the ‘father-son’ duo start ‘Missions’ to help Puneet find a good wife.

But Rishi is haunted by dreams. They are nightmares in which he sees a woman and three children, their faces faceless (yes, again right)and their names just beyond the grasp of his memory. These nightmares wreak havoc in his life and he slowly starts losing sleep. His troubled mindset and behaviour upset both his mother and his girlfriend and they try to convince him to seek help, which Puneet does.

The secrets Puneet uncovers form the rest of the story. What is the meaning of his nightmares, who are the woman and children in his dreams? Who is Rishi? Why does he appear in Puneet’s life? The questions are answered mostly and though there are some questions as to the reliability of the explanations, we can safely say that at least all holes have been filled.

The story’s plotline is unique and the story is indeed written well until the last few chapters, where there is a mild disturbance in the sequence. The imagination and creativity are excellent in this one and the episodes between father and son tickle the funny bone. The overall story is written elaborately but has a rushed climax. The dreams / nightmares and the psychological effects are explained well. The character development is good, too. One character that stood out in the whole book was Myra, for reasons that will be disclosed when you read the book.

The review will not be complete without mentioning the special efforts taken to include verses at the beginning of almost every chapter. They have tried to bring forth the feeling of love and confusion and require a separate mention. A sample verse to go by! (This is neither the best verse nor the one that stood out the most. This is just a random verse taken from the book!)

Day is the witness of sunrise,

Night sustains till the moonlight shines.

Everything abides by routine.

Then what does this chaos in my life mean?

WHAT I LIKED:

The excellently unique plot, the explanation that does not get into paranormal, thankfully. The funny scenes with the creative imagination.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER:

The language could have been more grammatical and tighter editing would have made the story a really interesting read.

The story has a lot of switches in narrative between dreams, reality, nightmares, past and present. Better sequencing would have made the story a real treat.

VERDICT: Congratulations to the authors for this unique attempt. Go for this one if you like your stories if you love out of the box plots!

RATING: 4/5

My Review (No Spoilers!)

A couple of days ago, I found out about this amazing book called, Hey Dad! Meet My Mom… Written by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agarwal. As soon as I read the blurb of this book, I knew I had to get my hands on it. There was something strangely beautiful and scary about this book’s title which intrigued me. I knew I just had to contact authors for a review copy. One of the authors, Sandeep Sharma, was kind enough to courier me a review copy of this book and that’s when I embarked on the journey of this wonderful story.

If you ask me, the USP of Hey Dad! Meet My Mom is the story. This story is probably the most fascinating stories I have ever read. The story of HDM3 starts with a prologue, giving us the slightest hint of what is coming our way, but leaves us completely guessing at every turn and in utter shock throughout the book. The incidents taking place in the story are so unpredictable that you will never be able to guess what’s going to happen next. The story of HDM3 is like a dream; like a dream, it takes over our mind slowly and steadily with light humor and lollipop and later turns our imagination upside down leaving us baffled and confused at what’s going to happen next.

The most fascinating feature of this book is the dreams. The protagonist sees dreams or nightmares to be precise, in his sleep, which leaves him baffled and in fear and the way these dreams or nightmares have been incorporated in the book was my personal favorite part of the book. The dreams have a meaning, they say. In HDM3, dreams play a vital role. Without dreams, story of HDM3 would have felt like a body without soul. The manner in which authors have written the dreams or nightmares have seriously left me speechless.

Another fascinating feature of this book is original poems which go along with the story and the theme of the book. I really enjoyed the poem with which the novel ends. Every chapter comes with a few original verses which were very unique and interesting. For a poetry lover, this was a bonus! The authors have done seriously great job with original poems. Kudos to them!

But, one thing I didn’t really like about the book was the staleness of the language and the metaphors. Both the writers are still young and they have written a really good story. But, somewhere, the language and the metaphors failed to do justice, to the story. I kept wishing for paragraphs or sentences which I could mark as the noteworthy, but, I came empty handed. All I can say is that, there’s still scope for improvement in the language of both the authors.

I would rate this wonderful book 3 out of 5 for the unpredictable story and the original poems written by the author. This book is recommended for all the book lovers who enjoy a light read during travelling or for those who love reading on a weekend night tucked in bed. This book is recommended to everyone who loves a good story with humor, romance, and mystery. And last but not the least, this is a book recommended to all the boys whose mothers are probably looking for a bride.

Huge thanks to Sandeep Sharma for the review copy!

‘hey Dad! meet my Mom’, a novel with an unconventional title, is without a doubt an admirable first attempt by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal. The title of this book will not only stick in the minds of prospective readers, but will also force them to read the book. Title of any book is the first piece of information and plays a very important role in the success of the book. And, therefore, the authors should be congratulated for coming out with such a catchy title. However, at the same time, we should also keep in mind that the success of a book does not completely depend on the title alone. While a good title will certainly attract the readers, it is the content that really matters. So, does this book justify its title or turn out to be a mere ‘eye-wash’? Let’s analyze.

The story revolves around Puneet Srivastva, who is working as a manager in a bank. He is living a happy life with his mother. Out of the blue, Puneet starts seeing a small boy holding a lollypop in his hands and, astonishingly, calling him his dad. Puneet gets both confused and shocked as he is unmarried. Additionally, this little boy is visible to Puneet only. While this boy proclaims himself as Puneet’s future son, this boy also forces Puneet to dig his buried past. Who is this little boy exactly? Why is he dragging Puneet along with him? And what does he really want from Puneet…forms the rest of the story.

The book, with an unusual plot, successfully keeps the attention of the readers. The book maintains a good pace and you, as a reader, do not lose interest at any point of time because the unfolding drama keeps you hooked. The writing is simple and some of the emotional scenes have been dealt really well. The book certainly has its moments. A well-planned twist and inclusion of poetic verses in the book add a certain charm to the main storyline. Some of the poetic verses are written really well and touch your heart. The characters of the book do not disappoint you. The chemistry between Puneet and his so-called ‘future son’ has also been done well.

However, you feel a bit unsatisfied after finishing the book. For me, a number of things seem to have been rushed or not properly developed. This is especially true for the second half where the storyline moves very fast. A few more pages in this second half could have been included to develop this part in a much better manner. Likewise, more attention could have been given to the dialogues. To be frank, some of the dialogues in the book do not make any sense. Many things at the end remain unexplained. Overall, it seems that a potential plot was not fully exploited by the authors. The authors, unquestionably, are talented ones and I do hope that their talents will give us memorable works in future.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

The title really got me curious about the book. The cover is nice and we only understand it's real meaning after reading the book. The author has really thought a lot about both, the title and the cover. They do full justice to the book.

The starting might be a little confusing because of the whole 'I am your future son' thing. I mean anyone would be confused if a ten year old boy comes to you one day and says I'm your future son when in reality you're single as a pringle. It's just unrealistic. Anyways it's fiction so I guess it works.

I liked the poems at the start of every chapter. I totally loved the protagonist Puneet, he often comes off as awkward and that makes him relatable and also, adorable. I enjoyed the story but then it went downhill from the second half because of a few events that happen in the book and makes it more disappointing and less entertaining. The descriptions are vague and cringe worthy at times. The author tries to paint a contrasting image in the readers mind but fails to do so. The language is easy but at points I felt like I was reading the product of a lazy writing.

The book has a touch of mystery to it and even though you actually can predict a few things while reading a mystery, it didn't happen in this particular book. I was left bewildered and wasn't expecting the climax.

The book loses it touch while it progresses because the execution is weak in the second half.

The plot was unrealistic but also interesting. The pace was slow at times but otherwise I was comfortable with it.

The character development was progressive and even though the circumstances were not believable and hence not exactly relatable, the characters were three dimensional and I connected with them except for Roshni. I wish some insight was given to us about her character because it was so vague and bizarre.

The story is unrealistic, unrelatable and unbelievable and yet interesting. The book has a charm that makes you forget about the absurd circumstances the characters are in.

The book still made me think about what will I do if my future son/daughter came to meet me. Knowing my non existent social life, It would be a miracle if I ever had one.

I loved the way how the book is way different from most romance novels. I liked Rishi's way of bringing Puneet and Myra together. Bonus points to the authors for thinking out of the box.

Good work.

P.S. - The book reached me in a very bad condition. It's not just transit issues. The book was actually tampered while publishing.

Strength Of The Book:
Writers have given nice blanket to the story by opting a mind blowing theme for narration. Plot making is very nice. Book is knitted in such a way that it holds the breath and curiosity of readers page by page. Good scenes are created from beginning to end. Starting is done is pacific way which ties the attention of readers. Book covers the mind of teen agers as well as readers of their twenties and thirties. Also, amazing ending is given to the book by revealing all secrets one by one and doing justice with each character.
Weakness Of Book:
Literature is embedded only in few of chapters. Story goes so slow up to half. After half of completion, it leaves its breath during time period of college. Love story is weak in beginning and summed up in quicker way. In middle, poor dialogue writing compels readers to skip the pages. A bite of end seems unnecessarily addition to engage the readers.
Conclusion:
Full of suspense and emotion, this book is best serve to crumpled mood. Title as well as them completely suit to the story and theme. Book stands finely to engage the readers up to the end and leaves tear in eyes with admirably described plots. Besides this, book is best dose of true love and the relations of humanity. This is best spice to be converted in movie.

Puneet works as a bank branch manager and he takes his job pretty seriously and has little interest in giving into the societal pressure of getting married and settling down. But things change for him quite suddenly when a 10 year old kid enters his life to give him advice on how to get his love life started and moving. And just when things seem to be going well, what with Puneet bonding with Rishi and hitting it off with Myra, things take turn for the bad. With nightmares keeping him awake day in and day out, Puneet’s life takes a nosedive. Will Puneet find out the root of his nightmares? Will he be able to pull himself together? And will he be able to keep all his promises?

The concept of a son coming back in time to help his dad find his mom felt both cute and funny when I read the blurb. I picked up this book thinking that this would be another romance with a little bit of time travelling involved. And I was wrong! It is not a matter of time travel but something else entirely. You will have to read the book to find out what it is as I am not giving out any further spoilers. What I liked about the book was the plot. Though romance is in the center of it, the author has added some twists in the story to make the simple storyline turn into something deeper. Can you ever really forget your past? And can your future decide or change your present? The characters involved were interesting as well. I liked the level of maturity portrayed in Myra and Roshni at certain stages.

My problem lies with the language of the story. It is the current trend to tell stories in simple language – almost in common tongue. And while that does sound inviting, I do expect a bit more from a novel. The narrative could have been better with a bit more mature language as would have been the dialogue delivery. The fact that a ten year old and a man in his late twenties speak in the same manner is slightly disheartening. The eloquence that I have come to expect from printed word was missing. It would be probably an easy read to someone who has just started reading or in case of someone who picks up this book in a train where there are enough distractions as it is and easy language makes it look inviting.

About the Author: Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agarwal

After going through the book, one gets a feeling that this is probably not the first book from the author. Reason is simple: wonderful usage of language and right quantity and quality of twists and turns. This can probably be explained by the fact that he is known reviewer. An absolutely different storyline, which could have been a risk, if not penned properly. However, the author, does a commendable job.

About the book :
I would like to keep this book in the category of a Psychological Thriller. It kept me on tenterhooks as to what is going to come next, what turn is the story going to take next. Personally, I am scared of ghosts and never watch a ghost series too, but this book really did not scare me away, even when the protagonist could see his son, who could not be seen by anybody else. Probably, the ghost was too cute to be scared of.

From the Reader’s point of view:
As a reader, I could not keep the book down till I finished the last page. Generally, these days, a fiction is atleast 200 pages, but this one is only 157 pages, again compelling you to complete it at once.

Negatives: I felt that the story which otherwise went at full speed, took long in the flashback portion.

The Storyline: Puneet is a banker, who can see his future son. This future son tells his present father, that if the father delays in getting married, he may never be able to come into existence. Hence, the search or as they call it operation “Find Mom” begins.
Who is this boy? A ghost or somebody else? Do both of them together are able to find a wife for Puneet, to become future Mom to future son... too many futures I believe...., but finally leading to an interesting, and witty encounter of a man with his future son.

Publisher: Gargi Publishers
As I said, it could have been a risky project, being of a different genre, so coming out with this book, the Publishers have actually shown that they are willing not only to give chances to debut authors but to take risk as well.

Cover Page: A beautiful cover page, justifying the book. Full marks for that.

Overall Rating: 4/5

The story is one of a kind. It’s indeed the one that is Never Heard Before!

After reading a few chapters, I , for a moment, thought that it would be a story where in the guy dumps the girl when he realised that she is pregnant. But NO! This story is nothing like that. Each chapter unfolds a secret or ends with a question and it is this secret and those questions that forces you to turn the pages. The humor presented in this story is awesome. The short poems in the beginning of the chapters inculcates interest in the minds of the readers.

Now the characters:
Puneet is an awesome guy. It’s hard to find guys like Puneet these days. He did not give up on his love for Roshni. Puneet made me believe that true love never dies.
Myra is a chatterbox. She is sweet. I loved the way she handled her relationship with Puneet in the hospital at Ahmedabad, towards the end of the story. She taught me that no matter what the situation is, being there for your partner is the most important aspect of a relationship.
Roshni is surely the girl of many guy’s dreams. She is awesome. She is a responsible, matured girl. She is the perfect marriage material. ‘Being strong and responsible’ is what she taught me.
Rishi is really really cute. He is a darling. His innocence and his actions carried me to my childhood. He is the life of this story.

I loved the following the most.
The part where Rishi introduces himself and Puneet gets terrified to the core.
The incident at the shoe store.
The ‘watch’ incident.
Laughing Buddha – the moment appeared very sweet to me.
A proposal with an apology.
Puneet meets Roshni for the first time and their talk.
Roshni’s diary.
BIBA Fashion Week.

In short, I can sum up this novel as:
‘I-COULDNOT-PUT-THIS-DOWN-WITHOUT-FINISHING-READING-IT’

An Achingly beautiful and unique story.

HDM3 is a gripping novel that would thrill you and in the end would break your heart.

From romance to comedy, suspense to desire and from life to death, HDM3 would take you through plethora of emotions.

It's a beautiful story of Puneet and his unknown goal. With Rishi, Puneet's future son, story takes an unusual but captivating turn. Author has cleverly inserted the spiritual concepts without disturbing the flow of story. Myra, Roshini and Rishi would never leave your mind until the last page.

In this 150 page novel, you would not crave for a tea break. Twists and turns would keep pouring out of the novel with every new chapter.

What would happen when you love someone thinking it would go smooth unless some supernatural things resist you? How far one can go to get back his/her love? Do things happen for some reason?

If your mind gets strained with these questions, then key to them lies in the excellent and bittersweet story of Hey Dad Meet My Mom.

Go grab it and explore this life-affirming story of life and loss.

An interesting story wherein, tired with the slow pace, a couple’s future son comes to the present to bring them together.

Just like the title, the story is truly unconventional. I liked the protagonist and especially loved the parts when he first comes across his son. His shock and confusion were wonderfully conveyed by the author. The best part of the book was when the son bossed his dad around, it was too cute.

Most new author’s simple narration oversimplifies, and in turn, ruins the book. But in this book, even though the language is simple, it somehow adds to the flow of the narration.

Although, I do feel that the suspense part could have been better. It was obvious from the beginning how the story would end. It was quite obvious from the start who the mom was, so all that was left to see was when they would be together, instead of “if” they would be together.

Hey Dad! Meet My Mom by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal.

The plot is very unique and also very entertaining. I loved each and every part of the book. Rishi is surely my favourite character in here. The narration is done beautifully with nice language which is easy to comprehend and goes well with the plot too.
The book is a complete package of love, comedy, suspense and most important the things we get to learn from it. It's very important to move on in life. Life is a whole big book and certain things and incidents are just chapters, so because of a bad chapter we can't just throw away our book.
It is a must read.

Read Hey Dad Meet My Mom on Saturday. I was on my way to Delhi to attend a friend's wedding, and thus I had some time in the train.
When I started reading the book, I thought it as another love story. However, this story is different. At some points of time, even I got some goosebumps, as the story is so intriguing and mysterious.
It is not any usual love story, but far more exciting than that. For readers who look forward to unusual and exciting stories, this is a must-read.
My wishes to the Author Sandeep Sharma for writing such a good piece of work at such a tender age. Hope to read more stories from your side. This one is a Bollywood (even Hollywood) blockbuster in store !!
Cheers

‘HEY DAD, MEET MY MOM’ is a commendable first attempt by young authors- Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal
Engaging and emotion-stirring story with supernatural flavour and decent characterization but with a ‘compromised’ climax.
As a reader, I felt bad to see Roshni dying to accommodate Myra. I screamed at the authors ‘Why the hell you need to do that once she had recovered?’
A good read indeed.

HDM3- A Complete Entertainer!!! (Book Rating- 4.40 of 5*)

I am back with the book review of ' Hey Dad! Meet My Mom'' (HDM3) by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal. This is the second book by Gargi Publishers which I have read and sharing my review here. My first book review of Gargi's book was about 'Hidden Husband' by Shikha Kaul; which was highly appreciated by everyone and read by over 30.5k unique visitors till today. After reading 'Hidden Husband' and HDM3, I have become a fan of Gargi publishers' books now. And one more book from the same publisher is on my bookshelf and that is 'Her Resurrection' by Soumyadeep Koley. Actually, HDM3 had been looking at me to be read and get reviewed for long days from my bookshelf. I am regretting not reading this book early. Now let me come to the detailed analysis of Hey Dad! Meet My Mom'

BOOK COVER: A boy's image while looking backward raising a hand seems like he is calling his dad. The couple is sat in a boat beside the boy. Flying birds indicate the scene of dawn. An umbrella in a girl's hand indicates rainy season. Monument in the cover shows that cemetery place is near somewhere. Title 'Hey Dad! Meet My Mom' perfectly suits to the book cover and plot. I would give 5 of 5 to Jimmyeric Films & Media for the cover design of HDM3.

FICTITIOUS CHARACTERS:-

Puneet Shrivastava: Authors portray Puneet Shrivastava as a protagonist in HDM3. He is the narrator of the story.
Rishi: Authors portray Rishi as the second main character in HDM3. He is a boy of 10 years age.
Roshni Bhatt (Rosh): Rosh is a dream girl of Puneet.
Mrs. Bina Shrivastava: Authors sketch Bina's character as the typical mother of Puneet. I am sure that readers would relate their own mother with her character.
Mr. Rajiv Shrivastava: Rajiv is the name of Bina's late husband and Puneet's father.
Dr. Sharad Taneja: Dr. Sharad is Puneet's uncle and he works as a psychiatrist in his clinic.
Maya: She is the owner of her coffee shop.
She: She is the mysterious character. You should read the book to know about her.
Myra: Authors portray Myra as Puneet's girlfriend.

SETTING: - The story of HDM3 is narrated into 22 short chapters. Authors use present tense to narrate the story and flashback scenes are narrated as usual in past tense. Regional words are printed in italic fonts. Short chapters increase the curiosity to finish the book in one go.

LOCATIONS: - The story of HDM3 runs around several locations like Puneet's house, Maya's coffee shop, Myra's PG house & Dr. Sharad's clinic from Delhi and St. Xavier's College Ahmedabad & Kalapur railway Station from Gujarat.

LANGUAGE & WRITING STYLE: Authors scribble the story in simple language and narrative style. Use of capital letters to stress on words and italic fonts for regional words make the book interesting.

INTERESTING FEATURE:

Every chapter of HDM3 begins with the shadow image of a married family (introduced on the first page) and ends with a graphic image of a little boy.

PLOT and SUMMARY: - 'Hey Dad! Meet My Mom!!!' begins with a comic conversation. The story is based on Puneet's daydreaming and nightmares but authors cover so many genres within 157 pages only. Authors don't stretch the story so every single page becomes worth reading and entertaining. Rishi's appearance in Puneet's life commemorates 'chemical locha' in the Bollywood movie 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' where Munna (Sanjay Dutt) could see Mahatma Gandhi (Dilip Prabhavalkar). Rishi's character relates a character of the Karna in the novel ' Karna's Alter Ego' by Surendra Nath Mohanty Ji in which Karna appears in protagonist Vasu's dreams. Authors refer a quotation from the Mahabharata- 'Jurm karne se bada paap jurm sehna hota hai.' Authors inform about Laughing Buddha as 'Laughing Buddha is a Feng Shui article. It's the indicator of good luck or good charm. And there's a saying that, if you wish for something while touching the stomach of this idol, your wish will get fulfilled soon.' The suspense keeps unrevealed until the end so the book becomes interesting. The twenty-first chapter is one my favorites. A poem 'Hey Dad! Meet My Mom!!' by Payal Srivastava is just like a cherry on the cake.

The first interaction between Puneet and Rosh is described wonderfully. Date scene in ninth chapter is scribbled sweetly so reader feels that the scene should never end!!! Romance and intimate scenes are scribbled beautifully. Authors indirectly comment on mantras in a satiric manner. Authors comment on superstitions in Indian society through the protagonist's observation. Puneet's Sarcastic comment on spelling mistakes, hot seat, and boring songs in barber's shop show deep observation of saloon by authors. The one name written in my diary was commemorated while reading about Roshni's diary as the scene does relate to my own life- 'I never shared my dream with anyone, as I even felt afraid to share it with myself. The only one who knew about it was 'My Diary.'' Authors comment on flirt as 'You know I have heard or maybe read somewhere that boys think that flirting with girls seems to be cool and girls like that but frankly speaking most girls don't like this flirty nature of boys.'

Authors sketch a realistic picture of local vegetable markets in India, bargaining skills of Indian housewives like Mrs. Bina Shrivastava make readers laugh. They sarcastically remark readers' attention on the dark reality of love birds' shameful activities in public places like parks. Puneet's past takes us in flashback and commemorates the college days. They narrate the realistic picture of juniors' torture and ragging by seniors in colleges, and warn the seniors- 'Look, if you are trying to rag me then listen everyone, it's an offence and if any faculty sees you, you'll have to undergo serious punishment, and if I report your act to the police, you can't even imagine what will happen to you, your entire career will be spoiled.' Authors comment on parents' and society's refusal for love. They comment on addicted persons in an ironic way- 'For a smoker and a drinker, there are only two occasions when they smoke or drink; one, when it rains and the other when it doesn't.' While reading about coma, it seems that authors would research a lot about this unconscious state of mind; I would like to note some extracts about this state from the book- 'Coma, as you may know, is a kind of sleep which usually occurs because of some kind of a trauma. Now, when we sleep, usually our last thought gets trapped in our mind and reaches our unconscious mind which slowly gets jumbled with our memories and produces a weird kind of a dream. We all experience this.' 'In the same manner, a state of coma also traps our last wish, memory or thought and produces dreams when we are sleeping deep in coma.' 'But there is one strong difference between coma and a normal sleep and that is the activeness of our unconscious mind.'

FAVOURITE QUOTES FROM THE BOOK:-

'Time is pretty strange concept actually. When you waited for it, it seemed to stand still and when you wanted it to stay, it flew away quickly.'

'People very correctly say that love makes you do things, you've never done before.'

'Don't follow the crowd, follow your heart because the crowd may lead you to your destination but your heart will surely lead you to happiness.'

'Before falling in love I had always wondered, what were the topics that lovers could talk about for so long at all odd hours of the day but now I realized that the topics didn't matter, what mattered was the feeling that on the other side of your phone, there lay someone who was dying to stay with you; who was missing you terribly, just to get a glimpse of you, to touch you and feel the happiness of heaven, to realize that love is truly beautiful.'

'Life is nothing but a place to enjoy the feeling called love. When you are in love, there's nothing right and there's nothing wrong, there's just one thing and that is love itself.'

DRAWBACKS: - Though there are not too much printing errors in the book, I found two typing errors in it- 'of which' is repeated on page 33 and Dr. Sharad Taneja's surname 'Taneja' is written incorrectly as 'Ahuja' on page no. 85. Though Rs. 150 are not too much, I think the price of the book is a bit expensive. I know the strategy behind prices of books but I think it would be much better if HDM3 would be available in between Rs. 100 and Rs. 120.

REVIEWER'S VERDICT:-

' Hey Dad! Meet My Mom'' by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal is the combo of realistic and unrealistic theme filled with fun, comedy, motivation, philosophy, love, romance, emotions, fear, mystery, suspense and all that stuff need to be a perfect entertainer. The book does not let you put down and suspense increases curiosity to know an unexpected climax. I won't hesitate to recommend HDM3 to my readers.'

MY RATING:- I would give 4.4 out of 5 stars to the book 'Hey Dad! Meet My Mom'' by Sandeep Sharma and Leepi Agrawal.

Thanks for the review copy
.

"its all about true love and true meaning of life that to prove itself can go to any extent in form of imagination or illusion or hallucination"
The story revolves around "Puneet" who has lost a part of his life that comes to him as a dream and "true illusion". to entangle his life comes an illusion "rishi" who calls himself his future son, but always indicates towards his past and try to take him to his past. Puneet finds love - myra and rishi helps him but soon things start falling down. And puneet tries to find out the reason behinmd all this by peeping deep in his past which has been erased through medication and drugs, and finally is revealed to a truth that changes everything.
The beauty of the story is "love". Be it in friendship, or parental or humanity or just romance. every bit of the story gives a thrilling experience. like every Sandeep Sharma story, this too has a big twist as in suspense which i personally love especially in his books. the story touches a lot of issues in bits and parts. ragging, glamour world, single mother which in a way is good and makes the story more appealing.
the only negative thing i found is the story has rushed. things hjave moved on too fast which may clog the story in between. but overall a good treat.

The book in all is a roller coaster - fun filled and humorous. It isn't a regular romance novel, there's more to it - call it paranormal/drama! It slowly sinks in as you turn pages to believe what really is happening and trust me - it is completely unexpected!

A well written book with unique imagination, suspense and creativity of the authors. The climax was a bit rushed, I felt.

The inclusion of verses at the beginning of some chapters at the start was something new. The story has a lot of jumps between dreams and reality. But it keeps you hooked till the end. The language of the authors is very simple to understand. The detailing of the nightmares and their effects on Puneet is well done.

It is surely a page turner as you want to know what exactly is about to get unfolded in the consecutive pages. Though editing could have been better, kudos to Sandeep and Leepi for this unique concept! An out of the box attempt! :) A book that guarantees surprises - the authors have poured into it effortlessly!

Hey Reader! Meet Your Author(s)

Brilliant, just brilliant. The authors have treaded a path that needs careful attention to detail so as to clear the path for all destined to walk the path. And they have made the path a lively one, too.
Puneet is a manager at one of Delhi's SBI branches. He falls over his heels on seeing a girl named Myra. He is met by a little boy who always keeps licking lollipop.
