“She came looking for solitude… I’ll give her a reason to stay.”

Callie Ryan

I came to Montana for peace and quiet, not a moody landlord with walls higher than the mountains surrounding his property.
Beau Montgomery is frustratingly handsome with his piercing eyes and capable hands. He’s a man of few words, all of them gruff and spoken alongside a scowl that could freeze hell itself.
This is his sanctuary. And I’ve invaded it.
But when Hollywood calls me back, he’s there—steady, protective, and unexpectedly gentle. Now I’m seeing another side of the brooding mountain man, one that makes my heart race.
And for the first time, success isn’t what I’m hiding from.

Beau Montgomery

She’s a pain in my ass.
A sassy little woman with the body of a goddess who doesn’t think she has to listen to a word I say. And don’t even get me started on how she drives like she just robbed a bank.
She’s temporary. I don’t do temporary.
Not since I learned how quickly everything can change.
But there’s something about her that gets under my skin—the way she talks to her dog, how she sees through my defenses, the quiet strength behind her smile.
I’ve spent years building walls to keep everyone out. Now the one woman who shouldn’t belong in my world is the only one I can’t imagine living without.
After fifteen years of dedicating my life to this country, I didn’t think I’d be put on my knees, begging for a chance at forever.

Fall for your next grumpy book boyfriend in this small-town, grumpy-sunshine romance filled with sassy encounters with a wounded veteran and plenty of spice! This book can be read as a complete standalone, but is part of an interconnected series.

I had such a fun time with this one.

Beau was exactly the kind of grumpy, protective hero I can’t resist, and Callie’s sunshine personality balanced him perfectly. Their banter was cute, their chemistry was undeniable, and I loved watching Beau slowly let his guard down.

What worked best for me was the heart behind the romance. The small-town Montana setting felt cozy, and Beau’s struggles added an emotional layer that made it easy to connect with him. While the relationship developed a little faster than I usually prefer, I still found myself completely invested in these two and cheering them on.

I did wish there had been a bit more tension and a stronger final conflict, but overall this was a sweet, swoony read that left me smiling. If you’re looking for a protective hero, great chemistry, and a low-angst romance with plenty of heart, this is definitely worth picking up.

This one reminded me why I never get tired of grumpy x sunshine romances.

💬 I'm not sure what I did right recently but I've had a spat of very swoony ARCs lately and I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT 😩 I need all the swoony book boyfriends in my life lol.

The story was well written and sweet, and sucked me in pretty quickly. It's a quick read, however I think the romance was a little rushed. I initially wrote down that I wished more time passed in the book between relationship milestones. It's the tiniest bit too "insta-love" for my tastes but the chemistry between Beau and Callie was so good.

I also wish there'd been a little more drama in the third act. I don't mind "low angst" but this felt very minimal and barely there. Really, it seemed like the pivot into the second half of the book was more dramatic than the climax.

Boss is a new to me author but I will definitely be adding the first two books in this series to my TBR. Its been a while since I've read a book with the protective alpha/military man trope and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed all that testosterone 😂🤤

“She came looking for solitude... I'll give her a reason to stay.”

Callie Ryan had come to Montana for some peace and quiet, not to find a moody landlord with walls built higher than the mountains that surrounded his property.

Beau Montgomery is overly frustratingly handsome with his piercing eyes and his hands that are capable and oh so talented. Beau is a man of few words, the words that he does speak are gruff and they are spoken alongside a scowl that could have frozen hell itself.

But, Callie knows that this is his sanctuary, and she knows that she has invaded it.

But, then the day comes that Hollywood calls Callie back, and she finds that Beau is there – steady, protective, and surprises her by being unexpectedly gentle. Now Callie is seeing another side of this brooding mountain man, and this side of Beau is making her heart race.

And for the first time, it isn't success that Callie is hiding from.

Beau Montgomery finds Callie Ryan to be nothing more than a pain in his ass.

He finds her to be this sassy little woman who has the body of a goddess and for reasons Beau can't understand, she doesn't think that she has to listen to a word that he says. And he doesn't even want to get started on the way that Callie drives, as though she just robbed a bank.

Beau knows that Callie is just temporary. And he has never done temporary.

Beau had sadly learned just how quickly things can change and he refused to go through that again.

But, Beau finds that there's something about Callie that is getting under his skin – something in the way that she talks to her dog, the way that she sees through his every defense, and the quiet strength and determination that lies behind Callie's eyes.

Beau has spent too many years building up the walls around him to keep everyone out. Now, Callie, the one woman who shouldn't belong in his world is the woman that he can no longer see living without.

Beau had dedicated fifteen years of his life to this country, and he had never believed that he'd be brought to his knees, begging for a chance at a forever with a woman like Callie.

Fall for your next grumpy book boyfriend in this small-town, grumpy-sunshine romance filled with sassy encounters with a wounded veteran and plenty of spice! This book can be read as a complete standalone, but is part of an interconnected series.

Backed By You is the 3rd book in the Brothers of Montana series by A. Boss. This is the first book by A. Boss that I have ever read, I missed out on reading the first 2 books of this series including the prequel. Thankfully all these books are standalone's in an interconnected series. So, not having read the previous books didn't affect my reading this book.

Sunshine meets Grumpy in the Mountains of Montana.

Callie is a Hollywood screenwriter and director who is doing whatever she can to stay out of the public eye. But, as she is well known that has brought her name into the light and made her a target for not only fans of her scripts and films but also stalkers. And the stalkers don't have her best interests at heart. Suffering from PTSD she has her support dog Hulk. She travels to a cabin in Montana that is owned by Beau Montgomery but his Sister-In-Law is the one who manages it. Her stay in Montana has given her some distance from her fans and stalkers and allowed her paranoia to lessen and even her day-to-day stress has become less. The cabin that she has rented has become her safe haven and she has felt safer here than she has back home in a long time. Despite her PTSD she tries to keep a happy face on and she never puts up with anyone else's crap.

Beau Montgomery is a military veteran who was medically discharged and returns home. Upon arriving home, he discovers that the cabin that was supposed to be free and empty was occupied. After everything that he's gone through in the military, Beau is now moody, grumpy and I found him to be a peen.

Upon discovering that it is Callie who is staying in the cabin, Beau does everything in his power to make her life as miserable as he can. But, Callie pushes back and doesn't put up with any of his BS. In fact, she dishes it all right back at him. With Beau returning home, he now becomes Callie's landlord, he's not the friendlier brother that she has been talking to for the last five months. His constant criticism and terseness of her starts to quickly grate on her nerves.

When Callie and Hulk are injured in a fall while out hiking, she is thankful to accept Beau's help and assistance. It's only when Beau rescues Callie and then proceeds to take care of her after that has Callie suddenly seeing a different side of him. Suddenly Callie is seeing him as a protector, someone who makes Callie feel cared for and makes her feel safe.

After that Callie and Beau go from friends and then very quickly they move into lovers. Neither Callie and Beau had expected this to have ever happened. And boy, do you ever feel the chemistry and sparks fly.

I loved this book so much. The story was such a beautiful slow burn, angsty, tension filled romance. I spent so much time just waiting and cheering on Beau and Callie just waiting for them to figure out what I already know, that they were perfect for each other and they belonged together.

You can see how hard both Beau and Callie tried to hide how much they actually cared for one another. And I just loved the way Callie lit up all the pages that she was on. She truly is a ray of sunshine.

I have never had the opportunity to visit Montana and yet the way that A. Boss painted a picture of the state, I felt like I was right there, I could see and touch the cabin, walk the trails, and I felt like I could walk down Main Street.

I just loved Hult Cassie's protector/support dog. You can tell that he is definitely her caretaker and she needs him just as much as Hulk needs Cassie.

I'll admit that Cassie and Beau do hit some bumps and adjustments in their relationship as their relationship progresses. They both has their own past relationships and they both have to work in letting go of the baggage related to their past.

If you enjoy angsty, feel good stories, found family, then I recommend you read this book and this entire series. A. Boss has done an amazing job in writing this book and I can't wait to read more by this author.

Thank you to Happily Booked PR for my copy of Backed by You. This review is my own personal opinion.

Backed by You is a sweet grumpy x sunshine story. It is book 3 in the Montgomery Brothers of Montana. This follows Beau(an army vet) & Callie(a successful Hollywood screen writer) and their relationship. Beau comes home from the army after a bad injury, and is now the landlord of the cabins his family owns. Callie is staying in the cabin that was supposed to be Beau’s when he got back, but mix ups happen! The story starts out with them bickering, but eventually they realize there could be something more.

I did enjoy the classic tropes:
- grumpy x sunshine
- forced proximity
- found family
- small town romance

The book fell flat because I felt we didn’t know the characters well enough to really understand how they fall for each other. It seemed very insta love in some places, and it’s not my favorite trope. It felt the characters didn’t really have more than a lustful connection. I also felt the conflict wasn’t enough. I do love a HEA and no third act breakup, but I didn’t feel the conflict wasn’t a big enough struggle.

I loved that Beau is an army vet. I love that he’s protective & on alert 24/7. I like how he takes care of Callie and Hulk. I just wished he softened up more around his family. Callie is funny & sarcastic. She’s bright & all around independent! She’s got a way of doing things that most people don’t.

All around, I did enjoy how quick the read was, and if you are looking for a good army vet, Beau is a good choice. I loved that we got to see the other siblings and their lives as well. It’s a very sweet small town book.

🌲 Grumpy Meets Sunshine in the Montana Mountains 🌞

I absolutely loved this story! Even though I hadn’t read the first two books in the series, I never felt lost—just missing a little extra backstory on the already-beloved characters. This was such a perfect slow burn romance. I kept waiting (and cheering!) for Beau and Callie to finally realize what was so obvious to me from the start—they belonged together.

Beau and Callie were the ultimate grumpy/sunshine combo. He tried to hide it, but you could feel how deeply he cared for her. And Callie? She lit up every page she was on.

The turning point for me came toward the end, during Callie’s hiking trip. Without spoiling too much—let’s just say Beau’s rescue was the moment they both knew this was so much more than friendship. The chemistry? 🔥 Unmistakable.

A. Boss paints Montana so vividly I could see the cabin, the trails, and Main Street as if I were there. This is the second book I’ve read by her, and it’s every bit as wonderful as the first. I can’t wait to dive into more of the Montgomery boys’ stories—I already know I’ll adore them!

I received the book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review. My veiw of A. boss's work still stands from previous reviews. She writes funny, sweet, small-town romance, witty banter, the right amount of smut (although with each novel, the level of smut increases...), and heartwarming moments. Her women are smart and not doormats, while her men are alpha not controlling douchebags. This series centres around a family of brothers finding their other half. I have reread butch and cassidys book a few times now, and it remains my favourite. Beau and Callie I liked, more so than Duke and Maci. Perhaps it's the dogs, a fat Weiner, and a giant shepherd, what's not to like. I feel though with each book, this is the fourth in the series, I'm entering into smutty Hallmark territory (I want more angst, more hurdles, more arseholery, more....something!) Still enjoyed this book, already looking forward to the next brother.

Callie went to Montana for peace and quite. She had a sassy encounter with the grumpy landlord Beau. He’s a wounded veteran that is finally home to live on one of his cabin for sanctuary. Enjoyed reading this small town romance with wonderful characters, grumpy/sunshine, and HEA!

Beau's reluctantly back in town because of a military injury, and when he finds that there's someone in "his" cabin he's not thrilled. All he wants is to be alone, and staying with his family won't allow that. So one night, after trying to sleep in the rain - in a tent - his better judgement goes out the door.

Callie has come to Montana at the suggestion of her best friend, but she wasn't expecting to love it as much as she does. But why is she hiding in rural Montana, and from what?

The sparks fly between Beau and Callie in the latest book from A. Boss, and is by far her best book yet! If you love a grumpy/sunshine, small-town romance, this book is for you.

I'd like to thank A. Boss and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read this book.

ARC Review

“Because for a split second, I thought I was going to lose you before I ever truly had you.”

Wow, just wow! This book completely stole my heart and is one of my top favorite romances I have read so far this year. Set in the stunning Montana mountains, it has a great combination of tropes for a small-town romance—a grumpy ex-military hero, a sunshine heroine, slow-burn chemistry that turns into intense heat, witty banter, and a PTSD service dog who stole the show in the sweetest way. It’s a perfect romance sprinkled with sweet, heartwarming moments.

Callie Ryan is 28, financially secure, and famous as a Hollywood screenwriter and director. She has been renting the one-bedroom cabin, once Beau Montgomery’s home, for about five months, with her huge, fully trained PTSD-certified service dog, Hulk. Paranoid and living in fear of being stalked, Callie came to this remote mountain retreat seeking safety and solitude.

Beau Montgomery is 33, an ex-military man who served for 15 years and recently had two knee surgeries. He is now back home and managing the family’s rental cabins again after being away for over three years. Beau is a bit of a loner, doesn’t talk much, and is considered the black sheep of his family. Beneath his gruff exterior is a deeply protective and complex heart.

Callie came to this mountain refuge hoping for peace and safety but instead found a grumpy landlord who became so much more. Their first meeting was anything but smooth, filled with lots of tension, awkwardness, and misunderstandings. The hiking accident started to break down the barriers between them, bringing them closer and marking it as the beginning of their relationship. Their journey from wary landlord and tenant to something far more meaningful is full of emotional depth, healing, and connection.

This book is swoon-worthy, easy to read and follow, with low angst and hot! The writing was immersive, heartfelt, and incredibly easy to fall into. The pacing felt just right. It was a slow burn, but when the chemistry ignites, it is absolutely sizzling. A. Boss writes characters that feel real and emotionally layered. I was fully invested in both Callie and Beau’s growth, not just individually, but together. This story gave me everything I look for in a small-town romance with depth, chemistry, and a charming dose of heart.

And the epilogue? Absolute perfection. It’s sweet, funny, and full of cuteness overload, with a dreamy sunset as the cherry on top. It wrapped up the story in the most heartwarming and satisfying way possible, delivering a beautiful, uplifting moment that stayed with me long after reading.

After reading a dark, emotionally intense romance, this story was exactly what I needed. It was soft, hopeful, and healing. Thank you to the author for writing such a beautiful and comforting book.

5 out of 5 stars! I loved every moment of it.

My thanks to the author for providing me with an eARC of the book. I am voluntarily leaving this review, and all opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected, and no compensation was received.

- Grumpy/sunshine
- Small town romance
- Slow burn

This was the first book I read by this author, but it will not be my last! This is part of the Montgomery Brothers series, although I did not have any issues following the storyline without reading the prior books.

I have always loved reading about grumpy MMCs. The grumpier they are, the better I like them! Beau is grumpy, but he has a sweet heart (deep down).

I really liked Callie's character - she is semi hiding for her own peace of mind. She has come to Montana with her sweet service dog Hulk. She never expected her new landlord to cause such a reaction to her life and heart.

Watching these two fall in love was so beautiful, especially when the protective side of Beau came out!!

I will be picking up the previous books in this series!

This grumpy/sunshine romance made me smile, laugh and wonder when the sparks between them would combust. Beau and Callie’s first impression of each other was hardly complimentary. She thought he was rude, stalkerish and grumpy, while he thought she was irresponsible, irritating and too loud. Both are in Whitetail Montana to regroup and find a way to move forward after few major bumps in their lives. Beau has recently been medically discharged from the military and is back in his home town to take control of his rental cabin business. Connecting to others, even his family, has always been hard for Beau, who is a loner by nature as well as reserved. His tough, growly and grumpy exterior hides a much softer, vulnerable side that very few ever see, as Callie soon discovers.

Callie is well known screenwriter and director of horror films, which has, unfortunately, made her the target of stalkers and crazed fans. Being in Montana has helped her to be less paranoid and less stressed in general. She has turned her rental cabin into a safe haven for herself and her guard/service dog Hulk. Beau’s homecoming brings him into her orbit since he is her landlord, not the friendlier brother she has been dealing with for the past five months. His criticism and terseness get on her nerves, but Callie is more than happy to accept his help when she and Hulk are injured in a severe fall while hiking. His rescue and aftercare show Callie a different side of him, the protector, one that makes her feel cared for and safe. From then on the two change from antagonists to friends and then quickly into lovers, something neither ever would have expected. Those sparks do indeed combust. Their story includes a few bumps, some adjustments and letting go of the past as their relationship progresses.

This heartwarming and absorbing book has my recommendation.

Sweet, Ex Military Romance

I have received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review

4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐
3 spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is such a sweet read! A grumpy ex soldier comes head to head with his long term tenant and her service dog Hulk. One fateful accident changes the course of their relationship and feelings start to sizzle 🔥

This book does contain open door on page explicit spice - there aren't a lot of sex scenes but if your not into that, maybe this book isn't for you. If your here for the smut, the passion is sizzling 🥵 🔥

I love that Beau is a typical grumpy, ex soldier, loves his family but sick of them fawning over him after he returns home from service, trying to keep everyone at arms length. Until he meets Callie, who is loud, unapologetically stubborn and has a service dog to help keep her safe from her past.

Watching their relationship develop over the course of the book was brilliant - from being at logger heads, hilarious banter to sizzling, can't keep my hands off you one more second heat. Their love story is uneven at first, rocky at best which turns into deep feelings and steamy passion 🔥 and I loved that we got to see the HEA in the epilogue 🥰

Honerable mention for Hulk! Firstly what a name 😂 secondly love his protectiveness and *that* scene tugged on my heart strings so bad! He was so strong and courageous despite all the obstacles and I honestly love this fictional dog as if he were my own 😂 But it all worked out in the end which is good because if something were to have happened to him, I would have raged! 💀😅

so good

So good. I love this series. This was about Callie. She was renting one of the cabins from the Montgomery’s. Duke and Maci were overseeing the rentals while Beau the owner and Dukes brother was overseas in the service. Their mom Julie got a call on Christmas stating the Beau was coming home because he was injured and discharged from the army. When he came home he had no where to stay permanently because his cabin was rented out to Callie. He was able to stay in the other cabin for a few nights but after that he had no choice but to stay at his parent’s house. He made it work for a few days but he couldn’t take it any longer. He grabbed his tent and camped out in the backyard of his cabin. Well in the middle of the night the storm came and he let himself Into his cabin since Callie was gone. She came home the next morning to find him passed out on her couch. She was upset and kicked him out. A few days later she decided to go hiking with her dog and they both ended up getting hurt. Her dog was able to make it down the mountain and as soon as Beau saw him he ran to him. The dog showed him where they fell. He was able to get to Callie and she told him to take the dog to the vet she was fine. She didn’t want to get seen before she knew he would be okay. He finally convinced her to go and stayed with her all night. They got to know each other. A Boss writes amazing stories.

If you love grumpy-sunshine romances with small-town charm, protective heroes, and plenty of chemistry, this book is definitely worth picking up.
Callie arrives in Montana looking for a fresh start and some much-needed peace, but she quickly finds herself clashing with her broody landlord, Beau Montgomery. Beau is the classic grumpy mountain man—quiet, stubborn, and carrying more emotional baggage than he's willing to admit. Callie, on the other hand, is sunshine wrapped in sass, and watching these two push each other's buttons was so much fun.
What I enjoyed most was how their relationship developed. Beneath Beau's rough exterior is a deeply loyal and caring man, and seeing him slowly let Callie into his world was incredibly sweet. Callie also brought a lot of warmth and humor to the story, making her easy to root for from the very beginning.
The Montana setting added the perfect cozy backdrop, and the wounded veteran storyline gave Beau's character extra depth without overwhelming the romance. The chemistry between Beau and Callie was undeniable, with plenty of tension, banter, and spicy moments to keep the pages turning.
A heartwarming, steamy romance featuring a swoon-worthy grumpy hero, a lovable heroine, and a love story that proves sometimes the person you least expect becomes the one you can't live without.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I absolutely adored this book!! Grumpy Beau had me hooked from the very first page and I was gone for this man. He was broody, stubborn, protective and underneath all those walls was the sweetest, most devoted hero. Watching him slowly fall for Callie was everything I wanted and more.

Callie was such a fun heroine. I loved her sass and the way she never let Beau get away with his grumpy moods. Their banter had me smiling constantly and the chemistry between them was off the charts. Every interaction felt natural and I loved seeing Beau soften around her. Those little moments with him noticing the things she did and caring for her without even realising it made me melt.

The Montana setting was beautiful and gave this story such a cosy feel, while the emotional moments hit me right in the heart. Beau’s past and his struggles made me love him even more, and seeing him finally believe he deserved happiness had me completely invested.

And can we talk about Beau as a book boyfriend? Because wow. Grumpy mountain man with a heart of gold, capable hands and absolutely gone for his woman? Sign me up. 🥵❤️

Backed by You was sweet, emotional, funny and seriously spicy. I devoured it and didn’t want it to end. If you love grumpy sunshine romances, wounded veterans, protective heroes and a couple you can’t help but root for, this one is an absolute must read. I loved Beau and Callie so much and I already miss them!

Beau has been in the military his whole life, hiding from his family, but when a bullet ends his career, he has to return home to those who love and overwhelm him. Trying to hide doesn’t work as soon as he meets his tenant Callie. She is beautiful, intriguing and when she needs his help, he can’t say no.

I love this series so much and these two are no different. Despite her past, Callie is strong, willful and isn’t afraid of what she wants and needs. I loved her sass and how she stood up to Beau when they first met. Beau on the other hand is the perfect grumpy man. His stubbornness shines through, but his heart always catches up. The spice is spicy but flows with the story and is not overwhelming. Hulk is a great side character as well. I do love a good attack dog. Police K-9s have a special place in my heart for their absolute bravery.

These grumpy mountain men have wiggled their way into my heart and I can’t wait for the rest of the boys to fall! I am so glad I stumbled across these books with one day to spare to apply for the ARC team! They are well written, heartfelt, with brotherly antics mixed in. I highly recommend! 5/5⭐️ 4/5🌶️

Another Montgomery Brother hang on get comfortable you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Sometimes first impressions are everything they stick with you, and you must work extra hard to replace them. Callie is sunshine for the most part with everyone she meets a screenwriter/director of horror films who attracts stalkers a few crazies but living in Montana puts her at ease a little along with Hulk (her guard dog) and when she meets her landlord, he leaves much to be desired considering he is nothing like his brother. Beau sexy as all get out retired military grumpier than most owner of rental cabins home to try and reconnect with people, but it is harder than expected especially dealing with one particular renter, she is irresponsible, irritating and too loud. I like a stern faced, hard outside soft inside MMC!!!!

Backed By You, by A. Boss is Book 3 in the Montgomery Brothers of Montana series, following 5 brothers and their love stories. Each story is a standalone novel but have characters making repeating appearances. You don't have to read them in order, I didn't,  and to me it didn't ruin them at all. In fact it made me want to devour each one!

In this one we meet Beau Montgomery, a veteran who has created a world of isolation for himself that keeps everyone at distance, but as we slowly peel back his layers we see the side of him he has been protecting, showing up around people he trust the most.

His soulmate, is Callie. She has wounds of her own and her own barrier of isolation that makes it hard for her to trust.

In true romance novel fashion it takes a hazard for them to open up and trust each other and truth and clarity for them to realize they were each others safe space.

Not to mention Hulk, her German Shepard, is the true star of the book. 🤭🐕

I really liked this one. Very hard to put down and very easy to fall into the world Boss built and connect and feel for the characters. Perfect length, and depth. I cannot wait to read Rhetts' story!!!

Beau + Callie

Backed by You by A. Boss is the third book in the Montgomery Brothers of Montana. Beau is back from being medically discharged from the military. He's harboring guilt and a scowl. He comes home and thinks he is going to have a place to stay because that was the plan but enter Callie.

Callie has been renting the cabin Beau was supposed to be staying in and she has a dog. He is quite protective of her. I really enjoyed having a front seat to the grumpy military sarg fawn all over his neighbor Callie and Callie give it right back to him. She was the sass he needed in his life. Once they get past the hardened exteriors both start to not only spend time with one another but grow closer in terms of wanting more than just friendship.

This book in terms of intimacy was a bit quick BUT it was under 300 pages so, I kind of expected it to be early on in the book. PS. I am used to slow burn books where stuff doesn't really kick off until 60% so, this was a nice surprise.

The character arcs for these characters individually slowly merged together once the walls came down. I loved the ending and I also loved how protective Beau was of Callie.

I received this book and am voluntarily reviewing.

I received an ARC of Backed by You by A. Boss in exchange for a fair and honest review. This is book three in the Montgomery Brothers series — a grumpy, former-military man meets sunshine Hollywood screenwriter romance that hit all the right notes for me.

Callie arrives in Montana to escape the trauma of a stalker, accompanied by her service dog, Hulk. Outwardly confident and independent, she hides deep fears about being targeted and about people using her in the Hollywood world. Beau returns home after an honorable medical discharge. Though he’s gruff and private, he’s a loner within a very social family, fiercely protective, and profoundly caring beneath the surface.

The banter here delivers: witty, warm, and emotionally honest. The transition from annoyed landlord–tenant to a real, tender connection felt earned. They both learn to see the person behind the public face and help each other heal. Hulk is an absolute scene-stealer and my favorite side character—the epilogue, in particular, made me love him even more.

Overall: a sweet, witty contemporary with strong emotional beats, great chemistry, and satisfying family dynamics. I’m excited to read more Montgomery family stories.

Backed By You is book 3 of the Montgomery Brothers of Montana series. This is a small town, enemies to lovers, grumpy/ sunshine story that I ate right up. This story has such a feel good vibe to it. When our MMC's first words to our FMC is "No pets allowed" and her first words back are "how about you mind your business", you know we are in for a fun, wild, sassy, fmc. And Callie, definitely is sassy.
Callie moved to Montgomery looking for peace and quiet but when her moody landlord Beau Montgomery returns home after being injured while in the military, all of that is about to change. When Callie and Hulk finds themselves in a bad situation Beau does not hesitate to step up and help them as much as he can. How can you not fall for someone like that? He is a grump, but with green flags all over him.
You are in for some fun banter, lots of tension, off the charts chemistry, and some healing that will ease your soul. I loved everything about this story. And let's not forget the star of the show, Hulk.
If you're looking for a lighter story with just the right ingredients to give you that light, cheery feeling, this is the one.

4.5 stars.

Oh my, I really enjoyed book 3 of the Montgomery Brothers of Montana, the characters were written well, there was love, family, friends, laughter, banter, light and dark, and I couldn't stop once I had started.

I really enjoyed seeing Beau come alive in this, he found in Callie someone who saw the real him; the good, bad and hidden, when he decided to go after what could be between them despite his fears and hurt, well, just lovely. "Because for a split second I thought I was going to lose you before I ever truly had you." *sigh*

Callie found in Beau someone who saw the real her too, he accepted her, didn't want to change her, stood up for her and stood by her - he would be her back up every day of her life. Hulk was such a character, I just loved him so much, I loved the bond he had with Callie and the one he developed with Beau, he was such a scene stealer. I am looking forward to reading book four now.

This was an okay read for me. Honestly, I almost stopped reading after the first meeting between Callie and Beau. I guess I'm in the minority with that, but Callie came off so entitled and annoying. She is renting someone else's property and acted like she had every right in the world to change anything and everything that she wanted to. I felt like they did go from enemies to more with not a lot of conversation. They hated each other and then within a span of a couple of pages they're together. I would have liked more interaction between them beforehand. I was expecting there to be some huge thing that happens with the way Callie is written to be paranoid and anxious about everything. It was just a couple of paragraphs and wasn't what I thought it was built up to be. Callie and Beau ended up being sweet together though, and the ending was cute. I liked Beau's relationship with his brothers, and the scenes with them together were good. This was a first for me from this author, but I would be willing to read her again.

It had been a while since I posted a review. I haven’t had much time for reading. Life is full of ups and downs and this time I was hit pretty hard. As I slowly went back into my normal routine I read Backed by You by A Boss and this book did not disappoint as a matter of fact it was exactly what I needed to help me calm and go back to “normal”. I love how I was able to identify with the FMC she’s a Hollywood star with a great challenge. She’s so unsure and insecure in the beginning I love how her character develops and she’s able to find safety in Beau. What a man. As always any book by A Boss is guaranteed to be 5 stars.

Book 3 in the Montgomery Brothers series, a stand alone with interconnected characters. This is one full of opposites attracts, Grumpy X sunshine, city girl X country boy, Hollywood fame x military hero. Callie is living in Montana, taking a break from the big city and resetting her life after a period of trauma. Beau is a returning military veteran, he’s back in his hometown and forced to live here, there and everywhere while his cabin has already been leased to Callie. Despite their first frosty meeting, the story is a slow burn of desire and chemistry. They just can’t seem to stay away from each other, but in each other, they have found peace and a home. The camaraderie between the brothers is exactly what Beau needed on his return, even though he won’t admit to it. A quick and easy ready, low angst with a bit of heat.

I absolutely adore the Montgomery Brothers series. I've been hooked since Book One.

A. Boss is an amazing storyteller. She mixes gruff, closed-off, rugged mountain men with smart, sassy, strong, independent women. The only women that can get through to them, impact them, and love them the way they need to be loved.

Beau, in all his alpha-hole glory meets his match in Callie. Callie is seeking peace and privacy in the mountains of Montana. Beau is battered, bruised, and determined to find solitude on his land. Only problem? Callie's in his cabin making it her own. Their banter is full of sass and vinegar with each insistent on getting their way. Throw in a well meaning but somewhat meddlesome family, a protective dog, and a ton of spice and you get an unputdownable book.

Each release in the Montgomery Brothers has me claiming a new favorite. Now I'm sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what's in store for Rhett, Levi, and (hopefully) their only sister, Lily.

4/5...This was such an enjoyable romance with a wonderful balance of emotional depth, chemistry, and character growth. I especially loved the dynamic between the main characters—their interactions felt natural, and the tension between them kept me invested from the very beginning. The romance developed at a satisfying pace, allowing both characters to grow individually while also building a believable connection together. What stood out most was the balance between the lighter, swoony moments and the more heartfelt themes. The protective instincts, unwavering support, and growing trust between the characters made their relationship feel meaningful rather than rushed. While there were a few moments where I wanted a little more development, overall it was a compelling and satisfying read that kept me turning the pages. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Backed by You by A. Boss is a heartwarming and steamy small-town romance that delivered a grumpy-sunshine pairing I fell in love with. A. Boss once again returns to Montana with a story full of emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and characters who feel authentic and easy to root for. In this novel, we follow the story of the FMC Callie Ryan, who escapes to Montana seeking peace, only to find herself clashing with her broody landlord, the MMC Beau Montgomery. One of the things that I loved about this book is the Montana setting since it adds another layer of charm, with its rugged landscapes and close-knit community creating the perfect backdrop for this romance. Overall, Backed by You is a sweet and emotionally satisfying romance that combined lovable characters, heartfelt moments, and a swoon-worthy hero into a cozy small-town romance.

I received an ARC copy from Happily Booked PR. Thank you so much for giving me a chance to read and voluntarily review this novel!

Backed by You was everything I want in a small-town romance and more! Beau Montgomery is the definition of a grumpy mountain man, and watching his walls slowly come down for Callie was honestly one of my favourite parts of the book. The chemistry between these two was incredible from the very beginning! Their banter had me smiling, their emotional moments had me completely invested, and Beau’s protective, soft side absolutely stole my heart. Callie was such a strong and likeable heroine, and I loved how she challenged Beau while also understanding him in a way no one else seemed to.

The Montana setting was beautiful, the romance felt genuine, and the balance between the emotional depth and the lighter moments was perfect. By the end, I was completely obsessed with these characters and didn’t want their story to end!

If you love grumpy sunshine romances, wounded veterans, small-town settings, adorable dogs, and a hero who falls hard, this book is definitely worth picking up!
