"It's horrible," I admit. "Feeling is horrible."
"It can be." She reaches up to cup my face, gently touching my cheeks, my lips. "But it doesn't have to be. We can burn together." - Let The Mask Fall by G.E. Masters

They are crazy your honor, but my goodness are they in love!

I am feeling so conflicted about this novel, because on one hand the first half of the book felt a little unfocused when it came to its prose and character writing, but as we delved more into the story and started to establish and build a relationship between both our FMCs, I started to see the subtle foreshadowing and purposeful aspects of the novel.

From the moment Blair meets Danielle, the atmosphere in the book becomes so tense and captivating. I really enjoyed the progression of Danielle's attraction to Blair as Blair chased her and her obsession grew. And I like how Blair and Danielle are shown to lean on each other and allow the other to break down her walls, it felt so intimate while also maintaining the angst and tension.

I love the "I am being pulled towards this person, but I don't exactly know why" trope, and this book does it expertly well, with the writing making me feel like I could see the line tugging between them as the author allowed for more layers of their character to be revealed.

The twists I wouldn't say surprised me in any way, but the writing still allowed me to enjoy how the unreliable storytelling of both our MCs integrated into the plot and it kept me turning the page.

Partner that with how well the spice balanced out the romance and I was absolutely enthralled.

This was overall a really satisfying read that hit so many marks for me, when it came to a sapphic stalker romance.

If you’re in a slump, pick this one up because GAAHHHDAMN did it grab my attention like a vice and hold tight until the very end. I am literally suspicious of what Masters put in this book because it’s too close to what I imagine crack feels like????

Both the FMCs here are iconic, albeit unreliable narrators (I had no idea what this meant when it was listed as a trope but now the fawk I do lmfao).

Blair is a literal Vulcan (shoutout any fellow Star Trek nerds) and Danielle is Just A Girl™️. There’s an insane amount of suspense as you try to decide who the killer is, if the stalking will pay off, and if homegirl will finally let herself rage.

I LOOOOVEDDDD Danielle’s inner thoughts; especially her experience with how everyone around her could give two shits about her dietary restrictions because FELT. This book was incredibly relatable (which, I guess should be concerning lmfao) and highly addictive.

If you liked Butcher & Blackbird and are cool enough for a sapphic + psychotic rendition with more spice, pick this gem up IMMEDIATELY.

3.5 ⭐

An entertaining dark romance where two psychos fall in love with each other’s darkness...

I’ll admit, it’s not the most original story. I think the stalking aspect could’ve been handled better—it felt a bit predictable to me, so by the end, that part lost some of its impact. What I really enjoyed, though, was how Blair helped Danielle embrace her true self. The progression felt natural for the most part, but I can’t help feeling like it was a bit rushed at the end. After so much buildup with Danielle denying who she really was, when she finally snapped and accepted herself, it felt like her transition happened a little too quickly. I guess what I’m trying to say is that her character arc could’ve been developed more smoothly.

That said, even with the predictability, it was still an entertaining read. The smut scenes were really well written, and it was interesting getting to know both main characters. Definitely worth giving it a try!

Things I Loved:
- Sapphic Dark Romance, done well
- Masked Stalker
- Possessive MC
- Feminine rage
- Sapphics moaning daddy, yummy kink with degradation

This whole book was absolutely amazing!! Blair and Danielle are so fantastic. I was absolutely laughing with the prologue opening, like fuck me she was really just not having a great time, then my jaw dropped, what an opening. ALSO WE HAVE COELIAC DISEASE REP!! I was squeeling with delight as a fellow coeliac disease bb, it made me so happy to read.

Immediately both characters draw you in and your completely captured by them and want to know more, figure them out. I loved that we immediately get a POV from both of our MCs and that we got their thoughts from their first meeting, which was great by the way. You could just tell there was going to be more to them, together.

GOD DAMN MORE THERE WAS. I Looooooveee how this progressed. I loved Blair and immediately how Possessive and obsessive she was with Danielle, unapologetically so. Danielle also had some fire and fought back, which I loved to see. The chemistry between them was amazing and god damn it, or should I say daddy, sorry daddy? The intimacy was off the charts, I swear to god, G included all the best kinks in this book. Blair and Danielle were so hot together.

The ending had me absolutely shook, I did not predict it and I was silently screaming. I seriously loved it. It was a fun refreshing ending to a perfectly dark delicious sapphic romance. I highly recommend!!

Let the Mask Fall by GE Masters

🖤 Dark Romance
👀 Stalking
🖤 Workplace romance… kinda
🖤 Unaliving bad people
🖤 Bonus: There’s a fish named Swim Shady

From the moment Blair and Danielle met, I was hooked. This book is a dark, twisted psychological thriller about obsession, manipulation, and how people hide who they really are. It seriously had me in my head like wow, you really don’t know anyone.

The story was top tier from start to finish. The sex? HOT. The BDSM and stalker energy? I was living for it 😂. Plus, they unalive bad people, and I can’t lie—I enjoyed every second of it.

The dual POV was such a good choice, especially getting to see Blair’s dark, unhinged internal thoughts. Her mindset was so twisted it kept me completely hooked wondering what she’d do next. Danielle thinking she was crazy (because she is 💀) but secretly loving it? Yess.

The author ate with this book because I didn’t see that twist coming—like at all. Freakin’ bravo 👏🏽. And the ending? Perfection. ✨

Definitely check the trigger warnings, but if you want a book that will eat you up, this is IT 🔥

W O W!
I'm calling it. This book is going down in my top three favorite reads of the year. It is that excellent.
Danielle and Blair match each other's freak and insanity so perfectly. It's giving.... touch her and 🗡️☠️ and I ate it up!
I literally could not get enough of both of them. This book has duo POV and let me tell you, their inner monologues? iconic!
This book has everything you need!
All the feminine rage and plot twists.

The story in itself is smooth and there is not a boring moment in this book. From the first page I was hooked and I can't wait to reread this during Halloween. 🖤

G. E. Masters has done it yet again, delivering another story that had me completely HOOKED from page one! I want to thank her for giving me the opportunity to read “Let the Mask Fall” prior to its release, expected July 21st!

I’ll be honest, I was a bit hesitant going into this one — it’s darker and more suspenseful, than what I usually reach for. I don’t normally gravitate towards thriller, mystery, and dark contemporary romances, but I’m pretty sure this book may have changed my mind. Once I got into the story, it immediately gave me “Dexter” meets “You” vibes. If you mixed those two together and then made it sapphic, you’d wind up with “Let the Mask Fall”. There’s obsession, stalking, humor, kinky SPICE 🥵🔥, and yes, even some murder. (Oh, and also a fish named Swim Shady!)

“My feet guide me closer until I’m next to her bed. I watch her chest rise and fall with rapt attention. She has no idea what is in store for her.”

G. E. Masters’ writing style is impeccable! It pulled me in right away; it was confident, compelling, and incredibly easy to get lost in. The way she captures the mood and atmosphere of the story is absolutely masterful, pun intended.😏 One thing I really LOVED was the little nods to her previous works throughout the story. I got a little giddy when I found the first one!

“She’ll either wilt under the pressure, or she’ll bloom.”

The story follows two main characters: Danielle and Blair. Danielle is trying to escape her past and start fresh somewhere new, while Blair winds up with, let’s say, a bit of an unhealthy obsession with Danielle from the moment they meet. But hey, love makes a stalker out of all of us, right? Some maybe more literally than others…
Danielle and Blair felt so real. There were many moments where I could really relate to them both. Masters doesn’t just introduce you to them; she peels back their layers, slowly and deliberately, until you feel like you know them — flaws, fears, and all.

“I strip my leggings and underwear off, covering my underwear—my doctor can check me out downstairs, but I draw the line at her seeing my floral bikini panties.”

She does an amazing job of making you connect with them individually, even as darker themes unfold around them. And the chemistry?! Phew! Every interaction is charged, raw, and magnetic — you can feel it simmering beneath the surface long before either of them dares to acknowledge it. They fall for each other in the most unexpected, and wildly questionable, way, connected by a whole lot of chaos. Their story isn’t exactly a fairytale, but morally gray never looked so good.

“Her eyes search mine for a few moments, our breath intermingling as I watch her watch me. “But I get to do it with you?” The words, the vulnerability in them, nearly knock the air from my lungs. “Always. I will never let you out of my sight.” She relaxes at my words. “Okay,” she finally says.”

If you’re a fan of morally gray characters, obsessive romance, slow-burn tension, and just the right touch of darkness, “Let the Mask Fall” is a must-read. This story delivers a twisted yet addictive dynamic that’s impossible to look away from. Readers who enjoy dark romance, enemies-to-lovers vibes, and watching chaos unfold between two “masked” people who can’t stay away from each other… this one’s for you!

3.5 ⭐️ Morally grey gays.

I skipped the trigger warnings, which is something I would suggest others don’t do. There are a fair few and this is a very dark leaning romance with horror elements. Not all the TWs were my cup of tea but the writing is fairly solid for those they appeal to.

I did enjoy the story for the most part and would recommend it to folk who enjoy sapphic horror leaning dark romances e.g. Eden Emory’s work. The pacing keeps you gripped and the characters are both well fleshed out and likeable (even if utterly unhinged.)

Saying that it was fairly roughly edited which is the main reason I’ve marked it down. Sometimes there are multiple speakers on the same line, a lack of clarification as to who is speaking, and some grammatical errors. If this isn’t something that bothers you, I would definitely say it’s worth a read.

The MC has slight Dexter vibes which, personally, I enjoyed.

I massively appreciated that the author is anti AI, and seems to hire a lot of artists to work on content for the books.

Rep// Bi/Pan Woman MC with Celiacs, Sapphic Woman MC, Sapphic SCs. Central romance is Sapphic/WLW.

TWs listed below, please skip if you don’t want vague spoilers.

TW// stalking, murder, domestic violence, torture, blood, mafia mentions, discussions of past domestic abuse, injury, bodies, mutilation of corpses, serial killers, mentions of predatory men, nonconsented filming/surveillance, dismemberment, invasions of privacy, alcohol mentions, abuse surrounding ex partner ignoring food allergies.

NSFW/Smut CW// mask kink, impact play, pet play, anal, scissoring, use of ‘Daddy’ pet name, choking/gagging, edging/orgasm denial, bondage, praise and degradation, knife play, pap smear scene, foot play, primal play, use of sex toys, dubious consent, consensual noncon, size play.

G.E. Masters is one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed reading this novella as well. The story of Danielle and Blaire was definitely a slow burn at first then ignited into a firestorm of sex and madness. Her sex scenes are well descriptive bring the reader into the experience. I also love that her books always include a scissoring scene :).

This book had an appropriate amount of face stabbing.

Lastly, if you're a sapphic person, you should read this book. Period.

I was an ARC reader for this book, and received the ebook in exchange for reviewing it.

This book a as an absolute masterpiece. From the very beginning, I was drawn in and just could not put this book down. There was such a level of mystery in the background of this story that you feel in the midst of an unconventional (to say the least) love story. And then you're like OH WOW. There is so much absolutely delicious spice... holy guacamole. Such a good story, borderline unhinged in the most delicious way.

Sapphic Dark Romance
✨ First Person, Dual POV
✨ 4.5/5 Spice Level
✨ Standalone
Rep: celiac disease

I recommend if you enjoy…
- dark romance
- morally gray MCs
- a bit of mystery
- spice with k*nk
- a fast-paced story

Content warnings after review.

Initial Thoughts
I wouldn’t say I am a huge dark romance fan, but I like to dabble in it here and there. Initial vibes are definitely m*rder-y/slasher-y, and I’m here for it.

Plot
I feel like I can’t say toooo much about the plot. I mean it’s a stalker romance. MCs be up to no good. I like that there is a vigilante type aspect where bad/morally gray people do bad things to worse people. There was somewhat of a plot twist near the end that I really should have saw coming, but I am oblivious/I assumed things. So I was pleasantly surprised. I would say definitely read the content warnings if you need to. This book is on the shorter side and felt paced well overall. I read it pretty quickly because the chapters lengths weren’t too long. “Just one more chapter…”

Characters
Both main characters are morally gray. I would say in somewhat different ways, but they compliment each other you could say… Once again I feel like I can’t reveal too much. I liked that there was some insight into their backgrounds particularly Blair as I felt knowing her as a child was an important part of her characterization.

Romance
This is a stalker romance. It starts with stalking, but like is attracted to like (as they say…). I would say the stalking isn’t too over the top it’s very much an obsessive “I need to know you, I care about you” stalking. But once again… look at the content warnings if you need to. I felt the pace of their romance was pretty good and overall enjoyed it. The spice was as expected from G.E. Masters (iykyk). As I mentioned before, I am not a huge fan of dark romance. One thing is they usually involve a fair amount of k*nk, and it’s not that I’m not into that… it’s just that there often is some k*nk that isn’t my k*nk that makes me not quite enjoy the dynamic as much. A full list of the k*nks are included in the book, so that might be worth a look if you’re considering reading.

Final Thoughts
As a dark romance, I really enjoyed this. It had all the elements I expect without being, well… too much. It teetered right on that line, so it was a satisfying read. The chapter lengths were perfect and the suspense/thriller aspect had me turning each page wanting to know what happened next. I felt like I could see it playing out before my eyes like a movie. Albeit perhaps a horror-romance.

(beware potential spoilers below)

Content Warnings
(may not be all inclusive)
st*lking, m*rder, domestic violence, torture, blood, mafia activity (discussed), abusive men (discussed), s*xually explicit content including k*nk (a full list is provided in the book), d*bious consent, consensual non-c*nsent

Is there such a thing as cozy dark romance? I really think there should be, and I think Let the Mask Fall would fit in just fine. It has all the elements I want in a dark romance, but with a weirdly sweet side. Blair and Danielle are just so damn cute together (I mean, stalking aside and all that), it made me want to squeal. Okay, maybe I did squeal a little.

I love G.E. Masters, and this one did not disappoint. We’ve got two fabulously unhinged characters with chemistry to die for, a twisty murder mystery, and some fabulous (and kinky) spice. I know this is supposed to be a one-and-done story, but damn, G, don’t do me like that. I want more!

I received a free ARC as a member of the author’s street team, but my review is unbiased and left voluntarily.

I read this in one sitting. I absolutely love an unhinged woman, the author gave me two! I found this book to be a perfect dark romance. Just enough dark without sacrificing plot. Honestly, I would watch a tv series about these two. The book is dark, sinister, sexy and somehow still cute. It was a fun read and very satisfying. It really speaks to the vengeful angry parts of your mind. Highly recommend this book, but check your triggers. The author lays them out clearly at the beginning of the book.

Wowza! You know you’re reading an amazing author when they can make you not only root for but also fall in love with so many ‘questionable’ ;) characters! Well really mostly just Blair and Danielle. Oh and Swim Shady! I am not sure I have ever seen two MCs more perfectly matched! This is a dark one that will have you guessing, cringing, oohing and awwing. I was captured from the prologue and only took a break to have a bit of sleep. If you like sweet (yes sweet) DARK sapphic romances, then this is a must read! Highly recommend!!

So far, Masters is 3 for 3. The Deal with the Devil Duet was mind-blowing for a debut, and now LTMF just came in and made sure she's a 1-click author for me. Blair and Danielle's story will be stuck in my head for a good while, it was SO good and the chemistry with the heat balanced the plot perfectly.

Boy howdy 😩🥵😅🫠
In the FF dark romance department, I’ve found there are few and far between that are well written and done RIGHT and LORD HELP ME G.E Masters hit the nail on the head with this one. My lesbian heart 😩😩😩

✨you had me at trigger warning✨
Daddy kink? Yes, Ma’am ✅
Stalking? Fucking oath ✅
Yearning? Good lord 😩✅
Two fucked up people who complete each other in the best (and worst) ways? ABSOLUTELY ✅✅✅✅
Hotel? Trivago ✅

If you’re a firm believer that Daddy is a state of mind, not a gender; that touch her and d!e is a completely valid and moral statement, and that trigger warnings are mandatory— this book is 100000% for you

✨Noteworthy mentions✨

-Wholesome stalking (she just wants to take care of her 😩😩😩😩)
-Touch her (be tortured first) and D!E
-Encourages her to reach her full potential 🥺
-STRAP. SCENE. 🫠
-🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪
-need her like I need oxygen
-MASKED. WOMAN. OH. GOD.
-K I N K Y Y Y Y
-MOMMY? sorry. MOMMY? 🥵
-over protective ((but not really at all, completely justified))

I don’t want to spoil it anymore than I already have, but do yourself a favour and read. This. Book.

((There are a few trigger warnings, please make sure you read through them before reading, your mental health is important, and if you’re not sure if you can handle these themes, definitely put it on hold until you’re ready to take in these heavy topics!!))

In my Top 10 for 2025 FOR SURE.

Unhinged FMCs? Check.
Sapphics moaning "Daddy"? Check.
Feminine Rage? Triple Check.
SPICE?????? Fifty Check.

I got out of my reading slump with this absolute winner.

Blair and Danielle are absolutely incredible, and unstoppable. I was insanely intrigued the entire time, and was up until almost 1 AM most nights, because I just couldn't stop reading. Both characters draw you in immediately. The push and pull is EVERYTHING, and the banter/internal thoughts had me cackling so much.

I love how possessive Blair is to Danielle, and I so enjoyed it being Dual POV so that I could learn about both of them. They have clear chemistry, and it was beautiful seeing them blossom with one another. And the spicy? Bruh. HOT AS HECKKKKKKK. I mean, like, I was fanning myself MULTIPLE times and loving things I didn't even think I'd like. Phew, baby. Get you some water quick for this one. A spray bottle, too, maybe.

And the ending? SHOOKETH. Wasn't expecting that and 100000/10 absolutely loved it.

You know what?? BRAVO 👏

I could not put this down and I stayed up wayyyyyy past my bedtime to finish it. I was enraptured by Blair and Danielle, they’re like two sides of the same coin.

For someone who believes she doesn’t feel emotions, Blair certainly has some emotional reactions especially when it comes to those she cares about. I really liked her character and watching her grow and learn from Danielle.

I related too close for comfort to Danielle when it comes to family relationships. Girl, I get it.

The subplot of the serial killer had me hooked! I’m impressed at how Masters looped the whole thing together. I was guessing all the way up to the reveal!

That final conflict though?? SO SATISFYING. And don’t get me started on the spicy scenes, I never would have thought I’d be into a specific scene (no spoilers) but DAMN the way it was written was 🥵

This is the second book I’ve read from G and I don’t know which genre I like best because they’re both so well done! I would love to see more stories like Blair and Danielle, maybe a couple of side characters?

I received this book in advance of release and these are my honest thoughts and opinions.

Five stars for sapphic, feral, unhinged, dark romance that’s both delicious and unserious. I loved Danielle and Blaire’s dynamic and despite thinking I knew the characters well, they still surprised me as the story progressed.

In addition to being dark, spicy, and even a little funny, it also features some stalking and some 🔪 of men who deserve it so check those trigger warnings before you dive in. But like, dive in immediately if you are looking for a wild ride and a Daddy moment between two woman!

From page one, this book grabs you in and keeps you hooked until the end. Blair and Danielle have the best inner monologues and I love the dual POV in the book. I love the progression of the relationship and LIVING for those intense scenes 🥵 the way I related to their feelings about working in an office and the people around were spot on, it was comical. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really loved the theme. Top sapphic dark romance read of this year!

Run, don’t walk to read this book! I devoured this book and it has immediately made itself one of my top books of 2025. I love Blair and Danielle and how Danielle comes into her own.
