Darkness has always resided inside of me, but tragedy made me a vulture wit’ it. I hunted my prey; it's how I ate. But for Tribal Anand and a second chance at her heart, it got personal. For her, I'll go blood for blood, steel for steel, body for body, and heart for heart. Behind her, let's just hope my opponent's heart doesn't end up pulsating in the palm of my hand. I couldn't lose her. Not again. -Maize “Vulture” Ealey
Who I was destined to become was chosen for me at an early age. I was supposed to become a member of the Hazard 3 gang—or was I supposed to do life with the one I couldn't see life without? These were the decisions I battled with as I came of age. Maize was there with me through everything—until he wasn’t. In his absence, I became who Hazard 3 created me to be, not who I was always free to be with him. Now, he's back without explanation, and no matter how much I tell myself I didn't care, my heart just won’t listen. - Tribal Anand
I believe this is my first Jas B book and I had to take my time with this one because it was SO MUCH to keep up with and pay attention to! And so INTENSE!! The cover of the book dos no justice to show you what you’re getting into! I definitely wouldn’t have expected for all of this to unfold the way it did! There were some grammatical errors but the story was so good I still had to rate it a 5 star read because honestly it felt like a movie!
Whew…. I was not ready for the emotional ride this thang took me on! I am so green when it comes to gang life, but this read brought me up to speed with quickness! It was like I had a front row seat to the innerworkings of Hazard 3 and learned of the manipulations, betrayals, deceptions, secrets, lies, and selfishness that that hides behind the brand.
Maize was his own man from a young age and would not allow anyone to sway his decisions or disrespect him. He was focused, fearless, and family oriented trying to make the best of his family situation, until tragedy struck, dimming his light and bringing vulture to life! 💔
Tribal was brought up with Hazard 3 running through her veins, and she knew of nothing else. Although Maize tried to discourage her from going down that path, she forged her way into their chaos. 😮
These two had their differences, however, the love they shared overruled it all. Until a tough decision had to be made. I wondered why Maize would leave Tribal the way he did, but chile when it all came out, my bottom lip hit the floor!! 😲 Anika!!!! 🤯😤
The secrets and lies that were hiding in the towers were crazy! I never imagined that things would get this intense! But I guess that is what happens when everyone wants to be on top. I’m invested in these characters, so I will jump right into Knight and Jaxson’s read next. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
It started off real good, but somewhere along the line, it seemed like random things were just thrown into the equation. I say random because they weren't even mentioned throughout the book and just happened. I wasn't a fan of the Indian chick loosely saying n*gga. I also don't like overly masculine women, so it was something I had to get used to.
The errors stood out like a sore thumb. I'm not usually one to complain about grammatical mistakes because we are human, but it was apparent the author didn't read over her work, use a built in editing tool, or have a reliable editor.
The ending didn't leave me like wtf and unfortunately the villain was lackluster. I did feel like the politics and structure of H3 could have been dived into and it would have added depth to the story. If drama is what you're looking for, this is it. It certainly was able to pull me out of my two month reading slump and for that, I'm grateful.
The MMC Maize was against the way everyone in this environment looked to joining the H3 Organization as a right of passage. The FMC on the other hand was ready to risk it all for King Towers. Its wild how I never read a story like this but I will admit I was intrigued from that point on. The decision Maize made to leave only to return Ten years later was honorable in a way. Once he came back all the feelings Tribal thought were gone came back in full effect and I loved that for them. This was a good read and recommended for anyone looking for second chance love.
Jas B don't be playing and I love that. This book was so intriguing and Maize had me and my heart from the start. Tribal kinda pissed me off but I understood why she chose to get jumped in. Maize was too much of a man to take orders from any one and them doing that to his mother only birth Vulture. I love the love and loyalty he had for Tribal and his brothers. I hate why happened to Anika but maybe it was necessary. Now my only hope is that Knight and Jax made it out that building. I will be patiently waiting for Knight's time to shine.💓💓
Maize, the MMC, I liked. How he moved. He was thrown into the provider and protector role. He was a thinker. There’s actually nothing wrong with the FMC Tribal but together even with the events behind the job Izzy gave Vulture in his home town, I just kept reading waiting for “it”. He took it for specific reasons but a lot came with that. This is continuous betrayal and envy throughout and even when I thought it was all handled, I’ve got to read “A Real Love From The Hood Knight” to see if Jaxson and a knight are good!
This book was the reset I needed from the book slump I was in. The character's development, the plot twist, the vibes—it's a refreshing read, and I fell in love with this book. Thank you, Ms.Boss-lady Jas. You did your big one Slate to you. Also the spice was spicing, Vultures is the beast we all need business need to be taken care of, and Maize is the one we need to heal and care for us.🥰🌺🌺
This was a really good read! It was nothing like I was thinking. First off I didnt know who the opp was and I'm usually really good about picking them out!! Great job Jas!! I loved Maise aka Vulture he was a different type of unhinged and then his brothers!! Im so glad I chose to read this book 5 stars easy!!
It's about grief, lose, manipulation, love, and finding oneself through it all. I love how this all came together....and I loved the love between Tribal and Maize.
Overall I found this to be kinda of Tubi. Although, initially Maize and Tribal were somewhat interesting. Some where along the way, I lost interest. It became too fictional, so much so that the ending didn’t gag me. I was actually expecting some sort of dramatic ending.
JasB!!! Now you know you can't do that to me 🥺. Y'all this book is so daggum good. If you haven't read it... Do it. Pull the trigger already. Where's book 2!? Just read the damn book.
Jaz u wrong the heck out of this story. Pen game is excellent. Betrayal, loyalty, family, love and more. Vulture is the truth n them twins was blood for blood. Read this, you want be disappointed
I liked that Maize created his own path and didn’t accept what others wanted him to do. Tribal mindset was carved from her mother & just being naive. She gave me a headache at times but I had to remind myself of her circumstances.
This was a good book. I loved how everything came together. Thought it was over and then bam that ending. I love me some Maize. I can’t wait to see what’s up next. This is definitely a good book to read.
Vulture cut up from the very beginning. He was his own man. He loved him some tribal! I’m glad everything worked out for them. I can’t wait to see how things play out
This book was definitely on some Bonnie and Clyde type of energy and I loved all of it. The ending has my mouth hanging open but I can't wait to read the next book!
