NHL Goalie Scout Justin Goldman and Dallas Stars Head Goaltending Coach have teamed up to create a marvelous way to stay in touch with how you play during the offseason even when you're not on the ice. Differing from Goldman's other novel, Between Two Worlds, which was more in the realm of nutrition, mentality, and training habits, this book explains goaltending movements that, if they aren't already, should become automatic in the future. Co-authoring your novel with a Head Goalie Coach in the NHL gives you many valuable resources to work with, including access to interviews with people like retired Stars goalie Marty Turco, as well as Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne. These veterans to the game share how they became some of the greatest to ever play the game just by sticking with the grueling training regimens, as well as making sacrifices in their personal and social lives, simply because they loved the game. Because it's somewhat shorter than Between Two Worlds, I would recommend this one to any goalie who wants some quick insight on what habits you should keep, and what habits you should break. This novel taught me lessons that I otherwise would not have learned alone, and set up perfect leeway into Goldman's second novel.

This is a great read for goalies, and outside of that, it features a lot of really useful teachings and mindsets that you can take with you in a lot of different situations outside of the ice. I’ll admit, the interviews were kind of hit or miss, some of them were really good and useful, but there were quite a few that felt a bit too stiff and straightforward. Still, there will be a lot of lessons I’ll be carrying forward from this book. I look forward to seeing how the sequels for this book compare to the original!
