Daniel J. Hale is an Agatha Award-winning author, a two-time former Executive Vice President of Mystery Writers of America and a creative writing instructor with The Writer’s Path at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He and his then-teenage nephew, Matthew LaBrot, wrote the acclaimed Zeke Armstrong Mysteries for middle-graders. Hale’s short stories for adults have appeared in anthologies such as Dallas Noir (part of Akashic’s Noir Series) and The Rich and the Dead (edited by Nelson DeMille). He has twice served as the General Awards Chair for the Edgar® Awards, and he also chaired MWA’s youth literacy program. Hale speaks fluent French and holds degrees from Cornell University, the Bowen School of Law and Southern Methodist University. When he’s not writing or teaching, you’ll find him tending to the needs of a megalomaniacal border collie or trudging through the forests of southwestern Arkansas with his trusty quadcopter. Hale is the 2016 recipient of Mystery Writers of America’s Charles Todd Distinguished Service Award.
