New York lives for the camera—until the camera looks back. A city addicted to image is shaken by a string of killings, where beauty masks danger and fame hides what should stay buried. Edith, a relentless photojournalist, chases the next scandal; Saphie Varga, a flawless influencer, fights to keep her life picture-perfect; William Mercer, the art world’s newest obsession, courts notoriety with work no one can ignore; and Detective Jamie Rivers follows a trail that refuses to stay in the dark. As their lives collide, a pattern emerges—and the closer they get to it, the deadlier the game becomes. A psychological thriller about obsession, identity, and the price of being seen. Book 1 of the Paparazzi trilogy.
I’m Aurea White, a Canadian author of psychological thrillers. I write about obsession, identity, and the secrets people keep when the camera turns away. My debut, The Paparazzi, explores the hidden price of fame through a fast, twisty lens. I dove headfirst into writing in October 2024 and haven’t looked back. When I’m not drafting, I’m reading—because I love reading as much as I love writing.
Great read. This is a thriller that provides readers a story that takes them deep into the mind of a madman. Great writing, charismatic characters and a story that touches your soul. There is much more to share but readers deserve to experience this story themselves. Highly recommended 5 star read.
This is a superb debut book by this new author, which is also the first book in a trilogy. It's a very dark, disturbing, thriller with a shocking ending. This sort of book usually isn't my preference, but The Paparazzi was so well-written that I couldn't put it down.
I won't go too deep into the plot to prevent spoilers. The story is set in New York City among the artist and art collector worlds. The FMC is a Paparazzi covering the art showings and charity galas where those two worlds meet. She not only uncovers an illicit affair by a socialite and art patron, she also discovers murders that seem to have connections to that world of wealth and glamour.
This book had compelling characters and a strong atmosphere. Sometimes there were moments where the pacing felt a bit slow and lingered longer than necessary, but I couldn’t put this book down for long.
While there were many different POVs, each one had a distinct voice and every perspective felt clever and satisfying. Following the murderer throughout made for fascinating reading. And I was genuinely stunned and haunted by the ending.
I’ll definitely be picking up the next book in the series.

I was not expecting it to end like that. At all. Good story though. Good characters. The different POVs add a little extra. William's character was definitely well written. He's messed up for real. I'm curious how this is going to turn out for the next book.

This was one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a while with a truly evil villain. While I thought (and almost knew) where the story was heading, I still found it hard to put down.
