To Remedy Mason, family was everything. The decision to pack up and move to Arizona for her father's ailing health came easy. She left her entire life in New Orleans behind, along with her family and her man. She embraced her new surroundings until tragedy forced her back into familiar territory- and into a complicated situation that will test every heart involved.
Maverick loved Remi, but he moved on once she moved away. He was happy with the family that he created and the business that he built. He was over whatever they had in the past - or so he thought. It felt like his heart was in a tug of war with each end being pulled in opposite directions. The hardest part of his impromptu love triangle was knowing that someone would be hurt in the end.
Blaze LaRue was destined for greatness. His skills on the basketball court were unmatched and had the potential to take him places. Unexpected family obligations derailed those plans, leaving him with some difficult decisions to make.
See what happens when nurturing spirits cross paths and love blooms in unexpected places. The joy of love can sometimes come with the pain of sacrifice and there is no remedy for it.
Was it entertaining? Absolutely. That’s what kept it at 3.5 stars for me. I couldn’t rate it any higher, though, because the storytelling felt exhausting. The characters' choices weren’t well developed and often didn’t make sense. It seemed like they were doing things just for the sake of plot, rather than the narrative showing us how we got to certain points.
The first chapter was long, and I mean long. It was a drawn-out introduction of every character’s life story who they knew, who they were related to. I get the need for backstory, but this felt like an info dump. The family tree was overwhelming, and the whole thing seemed completely unnecessary, especially with how the main character (FMC) was introduced. Mav’s introduction felt weird, too like it was just slapped onto the page.
I also struggled with believing Remi didn’t know what was going on. She came off as way too complacent. Girl, either you care about being the side piece or you don’t. Her lack of curiosity made it seem like she was fine with the situation. The author made her inconsistent she didn’t want to be the side piece, but then acted like one. We can blame Mav for part of it, sure, but what about with Blaze? Their ink wasn’t even dry, and he called her out for emotional cheating, but she stayed anyway. Blaze was cool, but he didn’t add much depth to the story. I only say that cus his situation was hectic but we didn’t know him out side of basketball and caretaking occasionally. A good man but written drably.
My biggest gripe, though, was Mav’s dad. Sure, his family enabled him, but why did he have so much negative energy toward Remi? What was his actual issue with her? He called her everything but a child of God, and it felt out of pocket. I didn’t get why everyone knew Reid but somehow had no clue who Remi was or how powerful she was. If her dad was "hood royalty" like Mav said, wouldn’t her name still hold weight? It just didn’t make sense that after the funeral, everyone was clueless about her. Same with Kerri like yes Nessa clocked her tea but again you mad cus a man wanted her and she didn’t want him? You mad for your sister when they were both lied to? Like what’s the issue and why is it included??

This was a good ole testament to that girl named Karma. Every single person in this book got what they deserved. They tried to do evil and Karma said aht aht hold up I'm going to give you that back in tenfold.
Mav kept claiming that he loved Remy but honestly it was always lust and obsession never loved. He never told her the truth and only minimized her down to her being a freak in the sheets with a carefree personality. He never highlighted how she was a caretaker, a boss, a woman who needed to be caresses, allat...
Big kudos to Remi and Kiva pulling one of the baddest moves because SIR TFYTTW 🤔
Now I'm a little indifferent about how Blaze handled his marriage and the disinterest in his wife because it kind of comes off that he just stopped being disinterested and never expressed that until he was already armored with divorce papers. BUT I will say sis didn't it make it any better on herself because she was never focused on herself nor on her man, it was always everybody else opinions like girl wake up!!!
I really enjoyed this book. This book was messy and had all my attention. These characters were something else and didn't realize just how close their connections were until secrets were revealed . Remi and Blaze were perfect together. They were independent and stepped up for family when others didn't. Im glad things worked out for them, and those who tried to do them wrong got what they deserved.
No Remedy for Love (Cute wordplay) is like a slice of shepherd's pie. This novel is equal parts comedy, romance, drama, and trauma. Remedy and Blaise are introduced to us through a third-person omniscient narrator. This gives us a chance to get to know. Not only the main characters but also their family and their friends get a clear understanding of how these supporting characters affect the main characters. I loved the lengths, Chanel. Parker takes care to ensure every major and minor character. It isn't fully developed which gives me the ability to identify what each character is capable of and what their motives are. Chanel Parker does a wonderful job of weaving her trauma into this story. I could feel the moments that were personal to her, as we lost a character. And as the main characters processed their grief. I'm unsure if the writing of the first quarter of this book was more difficult because I noticed the lack of continuity due to a lot of repetition, there are certain paragraphs and certain sentences that were repeated twice or 3 times within that first quarter as the book continues. Less of that occurs so it is picked up on as the writing flows. I also found that as we reached the climax of the story, or just before the climax of the story, the plot started to get a bit convoluted, but it straightened out toward the end of the book. Overall, this story was fantastic. I loved the romance. I love the development of the romance between the characters. I loved the sense of morality that certain characters had. And I love that there was Vengeance, for those who lacked a moral compass.
** There's some spoilers! I was happy to read another one of Chenell's well written book! This book embodies love and loss. The love is personified by Remedy and Blaze being care takers for the one they love, Remedy became her father's care taker, but she had unconditional help with care, while Blaze took care of the woman who raised him, his grandmother and he had no help without their being a cost! Blaze and Remedy attraction was strong and they were respectful of Blaze situation and was patiently waiting for Blaze to handle is failed relationship and Remedy was using Mav and he went for it hook line and sinker. Their family dynamics couldn't be more different, Blaze family was selfish and Remedy was loving and supportive! However their family dynamics didn't deter them from being together, despite jealousy and selfishness surrounding them.
Kiva was my favorite character and she was able to get her happily ever after, in spite of Mav and his antics and an older sister that was clearly jealous of her. Kiva knew she was the prize and wouldn't be a fool a third time!
Everyone who deserved happiness received it in spite of the stumbling blocks, just like those who needed to learn a lesson, did so the hard way!
This was very good and my girl Chenell Parker did not disappoint! Mav was a joke, he wanted to have his cake and eat it too, Kiva got away from him and that's when her blessings started flowing. She ended up with her forever with Rashad! Reanna was silly and let Blaire get her into so much mess, definitely misery loving company! She knew good and darn well her friend looked a mess, her own husband wasn't attracted to her nor was Ferris, he was just using her and ended up with his true love Monique. Blaze met Remi and it was instant love! He sent as far as divorcing Reanna, and pursued her until he locked down. He was determined to have a family and surely got one! Lollie and Mae loved Blaze as well as Granny Viola! His granny had trifling kids who ended up getting exactly what they deserved, nothing when she passed, thank God for Blaze! Tracy was a true friend/sister to Remi and a true Diva! Overall karma found everyone who deserved it, served up piping hot! Chenlle never fails to bring the drama, great read!
I love the hearts that Remi and Blaze have for others and each other. They took care of family and sacrificed a lot while others wanted to reap the benefits of their hard work. But they weren't having it. I love how Remi and Kiva were on their grown woman shat and handled Mav accordingly. The reapers definitely got what they sown... and karma did her thang.
I love how the characters grew throughout the story and asz whuppings were delivered on an as needed basis. Mostly, I love how situations were handled as grown men and women should with a little pettiness on the side. But Remi, Blaze, and Kiva learn how letting go of the familiar can be the best thing for you because your real blessing and love are just around the corner and there's no remedy for when it happens. I enjoyed this story so much and I highly recommend.
So cute 🥰 and good 👍 …. PERFECTION ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10
This what I always look for in a book or story: “it’s the removal from reality”, and this book did it in more ways than one. The drama and pettiness was so out there: from Mav to Reana to Blaire to the good ones from Remy to Kiva to Blaze was so good, intense and so interesting and intriguing that when you are in this world you do not have time to think and stress about real life situations. Then to top it off you had Tracy and vinnie, then the grands were so good. My favorite besides Remy was shiva. Quiet but very observant!!! Such a wonderful book and story! Thank MS. Parker, you did it again and that’s why even if I was reading a book and I see you dropping one to us, I am going to stop all that I was doing and get yours on site.. Perfection 👏👏
Is it crack???? Is that what you be putting in these books, I feel like I’m having withdrawals. The storyline was attention grabbing from beginning to the very end! From the messy family members, to Mav, Blaire, and Reanna! I wanted slap the mess out of Mark, how you mad at Remi, be mad at your son running behind somebody that don’t want him. But baby Blaze is definitely bae🥰 I loved it!
Now I’m over here scratching like pookie trying not to get on our good sis nerves asking if she got any more of these books back there! Like I know we gave you a break but uhhhhh come on don’t leave me hanging! I think it’s crack, it gotta be 😩
Ms Parker never disappoints when I read her books. She keeps you hooked from the first page until the end. I loved Blaze and his relationship with his Nana. It’s said but we all have family that only shows up when they want something or feel that they are entitled because of their relationship. I love how Kiva handled the situation with Remi and vice versa. As women we often times confront the woman and not holding the man accountable. She was in your grown woman ish and love that he found happiness. I was looking at Remi sideways at first I warmed up to her when she opened up to Blaze. Blaise, Kerri, and Reanna just are just a hot mess.
I really enjoyed this one. 🖤 It’s told from different POVs, and I’ll be real—at first, I was a little lost. But by the halfway mark, I was in the groove and flying through it.
Remedy and Blaze’s story? Super sweet. I loved how he cared for his gran—and trust me, Gran did not play about her baby Blaze either. Those scenes had me grinning. 🥹 Even though it’s on the longer side at 437 Kindle pages, it never dragged. Every chapter felt like it belonged.
This was one of those reads where you settle in and just let the story carry you.
I legit laughed out loud with this book. New-to-me author and I was not disappointed. This book was messy from the beginning to the end. Mav and Reanna were two delusional characters who didn’t know what they had at home with their significant others until it was too late. The amount of foolery in this book was top tier… I couldn’t read fast enough!! Blaze and Remi got everything they deserved and more with each other. Remi was not what she was labeled and I was happy Kiva didn’t allow her sister to influence her beyond a point of no return.
I miss you Chenell Parker I love your books I am in my 60 but your books are so real I have been were Blaze was and he did right by his grandmother and took very good care of her when she got sick and when her children found out about that little 1200 thousand dollars she won here they come so he was ready when she won that3 million thank god you keep writing and I am going to keep reading waiting on another book from you
This is true prime example of what is done in the dark always comes to the light! Mav was a lot from the moment he was introduced and I didn’t like him. Blaze and Remi have a beautiful story and Blaze really deserved someone that was good to him because he had a lot of the wrong people in his life. Definitely would recommend it’s a page turner and a lot of drama
I must say the long time wait for you to drop another book was worth the wait I’m glad that Blaze and Remi got their happy ending and Mav,Blaire and Reanne got their Karma I couldn’t even put this book down I laugh and Cried at the same time I really enjoy this book and I can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us I wish I can give this book 50 stars good job Chenell you did it 🥰
Chenell Parker has done it again, thank you. I enjoyed the storyline and characters. The connection between Remedy and Blaze was undeniable. I am glad Reanna, Mav & Blaze's family got just what they deserved. And the true loving family was there for Blaze. Remedy and Blaze bossed up with there blessings. A must read💯💯 relatable life story with comedy, karma, love lost and love gain.
I loved this book down sp bad. From beginning to end. I felt as though I was a character. I wish I could of been in this book. Reanna was something else. I really wanted to get my hands on Blaire and her whole family lol. I'm glad Blaze and Remi got together. I felt bad that his grandmother's sickness kept getting worse off but I had a feeling him and Remi was gonna get together.
There is nothing better than a good standalone with all the things for a satisfying read. Remi had a dope personality and a heart a gold. She was pressure for these ninjas though and could play them like a fiddle. Blaze had that same heart of gold. Love how they met and cultivated a life!
This was a good story. I loved Remi and Blaze relationship. Reanna was a true follower. Claire and Mac deserve each other. I like how Remi named her kids with the letter B for their names. Mark kept upholding his son in his mess and that is why he turned out the way he was. Eight children and none of them helped their momma. So sad
My favorite came out of hiding, with this page turning banger. I couldn't put it down at all from the beginning to the end, straight crazy drama and I was here for it. I am good and satisfied until she comes out of hiding to bless us again with another banger! 😁🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent story! "No Remedy For Love" had an entire circle of dirty characters doing dirty deeds without remorse! There was an entire hood soap opera going on, and I loved each and every page! Karma came and sprinkled her little fairy dust on those who were worthy. Overall, five well-deserved stars!
I can always count on Chenell Parker for a good messy read and this was no exception. This was mess, drama and pure entertainment. Every character is involved or intertwined with everyone in this book. Drama is on every page and it kept me laughing. If you’re looking for a funny read this is it.
Remedy had men losing their minds, but she never lied to any of them. Mav was such a joke. I was actually glad when Kiva and Remi set him up and had no ill feelings towards each other. I enjoyed the book and it was messy as heck. I really liked Blaze but his family were awful. The book was well written, flowed well and definitely kept my attention.
I’m so glad I finally got time to read for pleasure. Ms. Chenell Parker never misses. She is an awesome story teller. This love story with all its twists, turns and excitement was just what I needed. Go fall in love with Chenell Parker if this is your first read. If you are already familiar with her work, you already know it’s a great read. Enjoy
I knew this book would be good. I love the way Ms. Parker titled all the chapters. I can’t wait to read her next book but sadly I know that won’t be for probably another year or two!!
This book had me laughing so much. The pettiness was on 10 but the romance shined through. CP delivered another banger. This reminded me of feeling Blue. Which is another banger as well.
I loved Blaze and Remi. At the beginning I was think oh this is so messy!! I couldn’t how it was all going to be tied together for a good story, but it was. I’m happy how everything worked out for who it was supposed to work out for!!
I hate people who blame everyone for everything that they ultimately caused themselves!! All those ex birds and family members were the worse!! I’m glad 😌 Ms. Parker is back on the book scene
