Author A.V. Donaldson is a writer of murder and mayhem. She currently resides in Texas with her husband, three teenagers, and a lap full of adorable cats. When she's not writing she's...okay well, she's always writing. She enjoys Halloween and all things spooky, photography, traveling, the mountains, chocolate cake and pizza, but her favorite thing is visiting Salem on Halloween. It's the most magical place on Earth.
She also suffers from a rare brain abnormality called Chiari malformation and hopes to spread more awareness to the disorder. She is a brain surgery survivor and credits her condition for creating the insanity she writes.

What’s that song? It’s a Man’s World? Well it’s definitely not just a man’s world in A.V.’s book. Alice took what was rightfully hers in the only way she knew how with an innocent voodoo doll. I loved the premise and I loved the mix of emotion we got in 25 pages. It was phenomenal.

Sharp, Savage, and Seriously Entertaining

I had no idea what I was walking into with The Boss, but wow! A.V. Donaldson did not come to play. This book is a deliciously dark blend of satire and feminist rage, wrapped in razor-sharp wit and wrapped again in pure chaos.

The main character is completely unhinged in the best way possible. She's bold, brilliantly broken, and honestly? Kind of my new hero. Watching her go full scorched-earth on the toxic men around her was weirdly empowering and wildly fun.

I laughed out loud, winced, and cheered, and then immediately recommended it to three of my friends. It’s twisted, it’s smart, and it owns every savage second.

If you’ve ever wanted to set your inbox on fire or slap your boss with a manuscript, read this. You won’t regret it.

Our book group devoured this in one sitting, and we’re still talking about it! If you love girl power, unhinged revenge, and dark humor that slaps, THE BOSS delivers on every level.

A.V. Donaldson serves up a savage, sexy, and side-splitting ride that had us laughing, gasping, and cheering. The main character is pure fire, a horror writer who's had enough and dishes out justice with stilettos and sarcasm. Think feminist fury with a wicked grin.

Snarky, bold, and totally badass—this book is all that and a bag of chips. Our book club gives it 10/10 for vibes, vengeance, and victory.

Alice, and writer gor a magazine company called "The Writers Block" ran by an arrogant egotistical, narcissistic man who honestly only hired her as eye candy for the office.
Alice has worked hard and refuses to let her boss Dominic take advantage of her any longer.
A funny Thriller, with an ending like no other. I absolutely devoured this story. The Boss is an excellent example of how working for a tyrant leads you to do what needs to be done to prove you're no pushover!

There is something almost giddy about reading a A.V. Donaldson story told in the first person with sarcasm and black humor. It is the second story I have read with a strong female protagonist and both are amazing. The humor in this bite-sized short story is on point. Yet, there is also truth in the commentary of how women are portrayed in corporate culture. I wonder if the solution is a voodoo doll.

Highly recommend this one.

A woman's revenge

Besides this being a great female horror author, this short story in particular really grabbed my attention! I love the revenge books! Women standing up for women's rights, in the work environment, they are just awesome and worth the read!! I recommend it, go buy yourself a copy. I did!

This spooky little treat is quite the wonder! I love the concept of a woman standing her ground against unfairness in the workplace (even if her methods were a bit unethical). I just wish it was a little longer. I'll definitely be checking out more of this author's work.
