Twisted Fortune

Rate this book
Transferring her Senior Year to Nightshade Academy was certainly not in the original life plan for Persephone Reyes. But when her grandmother suddenly passed away and left behind her antiques shop in Hallow Hills to her, she found herself uprooting her entire life and moving just in time for the start of the semester. What she had hoped to be a simple final year of school became so much more complicated. And yet, despite the roller coaster she found herself trapped on, there was this feeling as if there was someone keeping an eye on her and making sure her final year of school went as smoothly as it could be.

He was not supposed to get attached. He had only intended on ‘helping’ around the antiques shop for maybe a year or two. A púca did not belong outside of his swamp. And yet he was enjoying his time with the elderly woman that time passed within a blink. Then he met the granddaughter who would be taking over the shop, and Kiernan Novak decided he did not want to return to his old life in the swamp. He was drawn to this enchantingly beautiful witch who walked into his life and decided he would do anything in his power to protect her, whether she realized it or not. There certainly were some advantages to having a creature with the ability to grant good fortune on their side.

Only time would tell if good fortune was just what Persephone needed to survive this tumultuous senior year, or if it may instead somehow twist itself into a nightmare.

From the cozy antique shop to the puca folklore, this story is magical. Percy is relatable, grieving, and just trying to survive. And Kiernan? Just a swampy protective puca who wants to make her life easier. yeah. I loved him.

The realistic drama kept the story engaging. I wish that we had just a few more scenes of Percy and Kiernan together before the end, as it still left an impression.

The end, however, was illegal, but the tears say it's worth it.

If you like cozy paranormal romance, give this one a try.

Spooky Debut

Congrats MJ once again and i am excited to see what else is to come. The pacing was perfect especially being the first novella. Everything was tied nicely in a a neat bow. Relatable and painful but in the most perfect ways. Curious of maybe revisiting Hailey or maybe a later Easter egg but either way ? The fortune of Percy and business of the year was precious <3

It isn’t every day that a short book packs such a punch that it makes me want to message the author with my emotional damage. Good emotional damage. The characters, the story, all of it was completely enjoyable and immersive. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more.
