Bonding is cherished.
Bonding is revered.
Bonding is life-altering.

Or so the Council says.

While bonding was certainly eventful for me, it’s been anything but the precious occasion pedaled by the Unified Council. But then, most Omegas know the name of the Alpha they share a bond with, and they certainly haven’t been suffering from an abnormally agressive form of bond sickness.

Three years later and given few options to curb the disease, I agree to attend one of the Council’s ritzy Matching Galas in the hope of finding a pack that doesn’t mind a tarnished Omega. It’s a last-ditch effort to keep the sickness at bay, but I’m pessimistic at best. At least, until the very first person I run into is the Alpha that’s plagued my every thought.

By some miracle, I’m handed the match of my dreams, and yet it feels tenuous. Because while we grow closer and it seems like fate might finally be giving me something good, the sickness claws deeper. I may have found the Alpha whose scar marks my body just in time to lose him. Permanently.

This book seemed really sweet and very light. I bawled. It was so good but that ending made me cry so hard. I loved the characters and the relationship between the pack. I highly recommend this book and I highly recommend having tissues on hand!

Wow. Well, it looks like so far I'm going to be an outlier, but this was a painful, boring, awkward read with a single, egregiously weak plot line.

Let's set aside the fact that there's a thoroughly disconcerting AI-generated Luigi Mangione on the cover... because seriously, wtf. Can't Unsee. Whoever made that judgment call can't be trusted. Voted off the island.

As for the story itself, something about the POVs and dynamics made this one difficult to immerse myself in. It felt like there wasn't really a main character... I assumed it was supposed to be Cole given the description, but everyone ends up feeling watered down in anemic, competing narratives with how it's written. The result? Cole reads like the LaCroix of main characters.

Even worse than the lack of definitive character focal point was the awkward and forced chemistry... or should I say, the lack thereof. Knock knock. Who's there? Chemistry. Chemistry who? Who, indeed, my good sir. Who, indeed.

Not only that, but early on there's a sex scene between Marcus and Charlotte - before we know literally anything about either one of them beyond the fact that Marcus accidentally mated Cole - and it just feels flat to me. Like someone starting to clap in the middle of a performance, the timing just felt... off. And, I don't know, somehow distasteful, too? Cole is over there struggling with his illness even more after finally seeing Marcus again, and Marcus is over here getting a blowie to help him get over his case of the sads.

Okay fine, he has a pack and others he cares about, but why do we have to read about a bj from his female lover in such vivid detail before we even care about these people? Why is this exchange essentially our intro look into their relationship?? And why is it placed in such an off-putting juxtaposition to heavier topics? I ended up skipping through it like an intrusive ad on YouTube.

What's confusing is that there's nothing that says you have to read the other books in the series, but I feel like I'm missing something. If this isn't a standalone, shouldn't there be some warning?

At 100 pages in (a third of the book) we still know next to nothing about Cole beyond his illness and the fact that his family is wealthy. The characters all feel very fragmented, and every time there's an insertion of sexual attraction/engagement, it comes across as unearned and frequently more clumsy than steamy.

But perhaps it's another timing thing since it very much feels like many of these lustful situations follow closely after something emotionally heavy, which I guess is just not for me. Swooping from a tragic story immediately into sexual attraction kind of gives me whiplash. Megan is describing her parent's heartbreaking death and the emotional toll in one paragraph, then a couple paragraphs later is panting over Cole.

Between one heartbeat and the next, the moment changes, the sparking undercurrent evident in my breathless voice.

Apparently nothing gets her hotter than talking about her dead parents. Yeeeeaaaah... no. Maybe this is for a YA crowd whose emotional maturity is no match for their spiking hormones (I said what I said), but this kind of thing just bores me and ooks me out.

The further in I read, the more it became clear that it's just smut with randomly serious plot insertions. Which, hey, I'm not going to yuck someone's yum if that's their fetish, but good storytelling it is not.

The whole contrived third act conflict which all stemmed from Cole's lack of communication on an incredibly serious matter felt wholly avoidable. And the whole freaking book revolved around this single goddamn plot point - that's it. *yaaaawwwwwn*

It's also super weird that the single genre listing on Goodreads says "MM Romance" when het content dominated the story.

📖 ARC Review

What to expect:
🩺 Accidental Bonding
🩰 Hurt/Comfort
🛥️ Bond Sickness
🖌️ Arranged Pack
🧋 Secret Bonding

This is the third installment in the series and the first one I’ve read. Like with most series, it’s probably best to read them in order—but honestly, you could read this one as a standalone too.

**** SPOILER *****

I’m not gonna lie: I have mixed feelings about this book. Not because it was badly written (it definitely wasn’t), but because I straight-up disliked two of the main characters—Charlotte and Marcus, to be precise.

But let’s start from the beginning. We’ve got an established pack with three alphas: Marcus, Charlotte, and Megan. The first two are also romantically involved. Then enters Cole, an omega who’s bonded with Marcus… who left without even leaving his number. Marcus, seriouslywho does that?! Years later, they find each other again, and now the whole pack is courting Cole.

From the start, though, I noticed an imbalance in his relationships with the alphas. It never felt like they were all on equal ground. Sure, it made sense at first for him to be closer to his bonded, but that dynamic never really evened out. If I had to rank it, it felt like: Marcus –> Charlotte –> Megan.

And the imbalance doesn’t stop there. What really grated on me was how not cohesive this pack was. When an important decision came up—something that should’ve included everyone—Marcus and Charlotte just made it between the two of them, and informed Megan afterward like she was just tagging along. My poor girl was hurt by it but stayed quiet because she didn’t want to cause problems.

Okay, I’ve changed my mind. I don’t just dislike them. I hate them. Megan deserves so much better—from all of them. And if you were wondering: yes, she’s absolutely my favorite.

Worthy or Knot by Jillian Rink is the third book in the Serendipity Omegaverse series. You do not need to read the other books before this one but we do see characters from those books.

Cole and Marcus met at a gala and spent some time together. Marcus accidentally bites Cole and they are bonded, but cannot find each other after. Cole’s health pays the price when they are not together. A few years later they both end up at another gala; this time it is for packs and omegas to mingle. Marcus is there with his pack looking for an omega to join them. Cole is there to find a pack or individual so he can be matched and bonded to hopefully turn his health around. Cole and Marcus meet before entering the gala but Cole needs to leave before he can meet the rest of the pack. Thankfully Cole knows his name and his sister’s pack is able to help find him again.

How will the rest of the pack react when they meet Cole? How will Cole feel when he meets the pack? Will Cole share the information about his health before it is too late?

This was a wonderful story. There were definitely some tears but there is an HEA. Go read it now!!

Thank you to the author for the free e-ARC! This is my honest review!

Worthy or Knot follows Jasper and his hopeful journey to find a pack that will accept his unique condition. While this is book three of the Serendipity Omegaverse, it can be read as a stand-alone.

I loved Cole and Marcus' story of being accidentally bonded and finding a way back together! Their pull to one another made the second-chance so incredibly sweet! I did love Charlotte and the way she gets to understand more of being an Alpha when she's learning about Cole. Megan I felt had the most depth to her character but she did seem out of place in the pack and I wanted more of her!

While my heart broke for what Cole had to go through and for the reliving of pain for Megan, I found this to be such a sweet and endearing next installment to the series!

This book was an emotional roller coaster of a ride, but it was so well worth the read.

The Serendipity Omegaverse series is such an excellent series and this book just further strengthened an already great series.

Cole is a male omega who was accidentally bonded during a one night stand, and is greatly suffering from bond sickness when the story starts. We watch him reunite with his missing bonded alpha, and meet his pack. Unfortunately, that isn’t enough though and his bond sickness leads to some emotional times for this new pack. Marcus, Charlotte and Megan were all great alphas for Cole, and I loved reading their story. Their dynamic is perfect and their story is heartbreaking and emotional at times. But their love for each other really shines throughout the story, making this a beautiful, but sad story.

Overall, this was a great read.

This book had such a different vibe compared to the others in this series but I devoured it up so easily! It's a pretty quick and easy read IMO.
My heart breaks for what Cole has to go through in this book. I do love how real and raw the chronic illness rep is in this book and how it can be debilitating in day to day living. Cole's relationship with Marcus, Charlotte and Megan are all very unique, tho it kinda felt lacking in the chemistry between the characters for me.

Thank you Jillian for the ARC!

Spice 🌶️

This is an omega-verse story.
Cole and Marcus meet by chance and accidentally bond but then cannot find each other.

When they meet again Marcus has a place looking for an Omega, but Marcus will not force his pack to take on his mistakes. And Cole does not want to be anyone’s second choice. Can they make it work?

A sweet omega story. Be prepared for the emotions that will come.

I had read a sample of this book and was very excited to read Cole’s story. Once I started reading I was hooked! I finished this in two days. I enjoyed the dynamic between Marcus, Charlotte and Megan as well as how they each fostered unique bonds with Cole. There were moments of joy, heart ache and unconditional love as they more than earned their HEA.

This was such a beautiful story. It seemed a little fast paced and jumbled at the beginning, but once my brain could catch up,I love it. Seeing how those that cold bonds to are able to help him heal in so many ways . And that vise versa. I loved reading about their love and their journey. And they was def some good spice in there.

This book had me riveted from the first chapter. My heart broke for Cole to have gone through what he went through. Marcus, Charlotte and Megan are such a great trio. Definitely a re- read and a keeper!

This deffo was not as good as the first two; it was harder to fall in love with all the characters involved until the middle ish of the book.

The spice though was top tier as were the rest of the series and the ending was great all around

This is book three in the serendipity omegaverse. I don’t think you need to read the previous books to understand this one, BUT I will say that some characters will overlap (Cole’s family). So reading the other books will help you understand his family and what they’ve been going through!!

As I was reading this, I definitely felt bad for Cole because he was experiencing OBS (omega bond sickness) and I could really see how it was effecting him. His family has been so helpful but once he bumped into the guy who marked him in the past, his life changed again. He never thought he would see him again, but I guess fate had other plans.

I thought this pack was such a good fit and they were all really there for each other but especially with Cole and his symptoms.

If omegaverse interests you, I’d say to start at the beginning of this series so you have no questions!

What to expect:
•accidental bonding

•hurt/comfort
