The Lawsons #4

Hot Four Teacher

Rate this book
Ten years. No dates. Just diapers, soccer games, and reheated coffee.
And then—Dane.

Funny, kind, easy on the eyes... and totally into me. For the first time in forever, I thought I’d found a spark.

Then I found out he’s my daughter’s teacher.

Now I’m stuck in a rom-com gone wrong, torn between my long-overdue love life and not becoming that mom. You know—the one who dates Mr. Hottie.

But Dane isn’t just any guy. And this might be more than just a fling.
So what’s a single mom to do? Risk the drama—or ghost the best guy she’s met in a decade?

This book gave me such strong Gilmore Girls vibes in the best possible way. At its heart, it’s a story about the deep bond between a mother and daughter—a relationship that feels both tender and authentic. I loved how their closeness was portrayed, and how the daughter wasn’t just a side character but truly part of the mom’s journey. Alongside that family connection, the story also explores the mother’s experience of finding love again, and that balance of parenting, personal growth, and romance felt very genuine.

As a single mom myself, with very little co-parenting support, I found so much of this book relatable. It’s rare to come across a story that mirrors the realities of being both the steady parent and the one who also deserves joy, passion, and fulfillment. Reading those moments made me feel seen in a way that was comforting and empowering.

On top of all the heartfelt, emotional layers, the book doesn’t shy away from romance either—there are some wonderfully spicy scenes that kept me hooked and added just the right spark to the story. I really enjoyed how the author managed to balance warmth, humor, relatability, and romance all in one.

Overall, this was such an engaging and uplifting read. It’s a perfect pick if you’re looking for something that blends family dynamics, self-discovery, and swoony romance with a touch of spice. I truly didn’t want to put it down, and I know it’s one I’ll be recommending often.

ARC review! First off, this book was hilarious! So many laugh out loud moments. I loved the family relationships, especially between Eve and Michelle. Moms rarely get enough credit and Michelle is absolutely killing it! I loved watching her relationship with Dane grow. Steamy and delicious! Most of all, I loved watching them become a family. A man to take care of the woman who’s always taking care of everyone else. Who’s done it on her own. To show her that it’s ok to let someone love you. And the fact that he also recognized that they were a package deal and accepted and nurtured Eve! Gah! Now I have a crush on Mr. Miller! 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Spicy, Heartwarming Stars for Hot For Teacher by Stephanie Renee! 🔥📚

I absolutely LOVED this book!!! 🥹💖 Hot For Teacher isn't just a swoony, slow-burn romance — it’s also a heartwarming love story between a mother and daughter that completely tugged at my heartstrings.

Let me set the stage for you: Michelle had her daughter, Eve, at 17, and she’s spent her whole adult life raising her. Now that Eve’s a teenager with a bit of sass (and a ton of love for her mom), she’s pushing Michelle to finally get her groove back! Enter: Dane — a former Marine turned high school teacher (cue the swoons 💪🍎).

Dane is the dream. Patient, grounded, supportive… and completely smitten with Michelle from the start. He knows she’s been through it and doesn’t rush a thing — and honestly? That made the romance even sweeter. You can’t help but root for these two!

But this story isn’t just about the romance. The family dynamics are amazing too. The Lawsons (Michelle's family) are the type of siblings we all wish we had — loving, supportive, and not afraid to give you a little shove out of your comfort zone if it means happiness. The way they look out for each other just added so much warmth to the story.

Now let’s talk spice 🔥🔥🔥
Whew, Stephanie Renee knows how to write a spicy scene! The heat level was just right — steamy enough to leave you blushing and swooning, but still heartfelt and emotionally driven. Not over-the-top, but definitely enough to have you wishing you were in Michelle’s shoes 👀💃

This was my first book in the series, and now I’m hooked! I’ll definitely be diving into the rest of the series ASAP.

Thank you Stephanie for the ARC!

** ARC Review **

I had the pleasure of reading all four books in the series and loved every single one of them! This was such a fun and steamy read! The chemistry between the characters had me hooked from the start, and I loved how the story balanced heat with heart. The pacing was great, no dragging, just the right amount of build up, and plenty of moments that kept me smiling and blushing. I couldn’t put it down once I started. If you’re looking for a spicy, feel-good romance, this one definitely delivers!

I agreed to an ARC for an honest review. As someone who is a teacher, I was worried this book would be disappointing with inaccuracies. But it wasn’t. Stephanie doesn’t focus too much on the teacher part and the MMC is actually a veteran which I feel like gets talked about more than his teaching history. At the beginning of the book, the FMC annoyed me a little bit with how insecure she was being but the author really did a good job of continuing to develop her as a character and give explanations of why she said what she did and acted how she did. I really enjoyed this book and hope you give it a read too.

This book was so fun to read. It is a total slow burn romance with an HEA. It is written in dual POV and there is no cheating. It’s a quick and easy read. I give this book 4 chili peppers. The intimacy wasn’t overdone, but it was hot.

The MMC, Dane, is a golden retriever and he is hilarious, sweet, patient and charismatic. He is my new book boyfriend. I wish there had been more development of the relationship between Dane and Eve.

The FMC, Michelle, is on the larger side and still has confidence. I love that. I could relate to her and was rooting for her the whole book. Her family bantered back and forth and added some belly laughs to the whole story.

Stephanie’s characters are authentic and down to earth. I love how much description she puts into the world she is writing about.

Thank you Stephanie for the Advanced reader copy of this. I’m excited to read the rest in this series

Tellement une parfaite romance feel good!

ARC review: Hot Four Teacher - where do we begin? Let’s start with our MMC - Dane.

He is absolutely EVERYTHING and I do mean everything you want in a man. Does he put his woman first? YES. Is he caring and accomodating? YES. Did he not only love our main girl Michelle but her daughter? Also YES. And did he have a dirty mouth and the goods to back it all up? Absolutely YES. Add him to your list of book boyfriends 🥵

And Michelle our FMC. Her character development, her commitment to finally making herself happy and content whilst also carrying out her responsibilities as a mother was chefs kiss. You see her blossom through her journey as she finds herself again and falls back in love with love ❤️‍🩹

This may be my first read by Stephanie Renne but it will NOT be my last! I’ll be reading all of the books in The Lawson ASAP! Thank you Stephanie for the ARC.

Please note I have received an advanced reader copy of this book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was sent this book as my first ARC (though this is my honest review) and I loved the light-hearted, small-town vibe as we follow Michelle and Dane’s journey.

Many books that have single mom representation have the FMC regretting the choices she made or spending time reflecting/thinking of all things she could have done differently. I love that this book doesn’t focus too much on Michelle’s insecurities but instead on finding herself outside of being a mom while still demonstrating how much love and care she has for her daughter, Eve!

Dane falling first was also a great touch as he’s divorced and hasn’t had a notable relationship since his past wife. Getting to know some of his family was nice, although I wish we got to see more of their relationship with Michelle and the introduction of Eve to them as well.

This was the first I read in the series and I think it was a good stand-alone, though I can’t wait to read the others!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5 rounded up)
ARC Review
I received an advanced copy of Hot For Teacher from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a fun, spicy read with a heartwarming touch of family dynamic that added some nice depth to the story. I especially enjoyed the relationship between the main character and her daughter—it gave the book an emotional center that balanced out the steamy scenes.
While Hot For Teacher is part of a series, I hadn’t read the previous books, and I can say confidently that it works well as a standalone. The story is easy to follow and the characters are introduced in a way that doesn’t leave you feeling lost.
Now for a few mixed thoughts: the “instant love” angle isn’t really my favorite trope, and it did feel a bit rushed here. Dane is undeniably sweet—almost too sweet, to the point where he felt a little unbelievable at times. I also wish there had been a bit more substance to their connection beyond just the sizzling chemistry. It felt like a missed opportunity, especially since it’s made clear that lack of deeper connection contributed to the end of Dane’s previous marriage.
That said, the book was still an enjoyable ride overall. The spice level is high (fair warning—or bonus, depending on your taste), and the tone is playful and engaging. There are a few minor editing hiccups, but nothing that pulled me out of the story for long.
If you’re in the mood for a quick, sexy read with a touch of heart, Hot For Teacher is worth checking out.

Michelle and Dane... Dane and Michelle... 🖤🥰😫 Yall, their relationship couldn't be more swoon worthy and one I want so darn bad!

Michelle is a mid-30s momma to a 15 year old. She's navigating life herself and with her best friend/daughter, Eve. After not getting her cage rattled for nearly a decade, she decides enough is enough when her daughter is away at a school event with her friend/classmates, she gathers her sisters for a well needed girls night out. little did she know, she would run into a hottie named Dane, a perfect gentleman.

Dane is a mid-30s, Marine, who has become a high school social studies teacher. He's new to the area after taking a job that became available when the previous teacher (and soccer coach) became pregnant and left the school for good. Little did he know, his bout of celibacy was going to end when he met Michelle. Furthermore, he never knew he could fall in love with one of his students' parents.

This book is cute. It's everything you need to grab a cozy blanket and curl on the couch. ♡

Hot Four Teacher is the first book I have read by Stephanie Renee. But it won't be the last.

Dane is 💯% the man that we wish all men were like. Patient, kind, sexy, good in bed, and just there for Michelle no matter what.

Things I adored about the book, 1- Michelle not being a size 0. I'm tired of books where the girl is a twig and not relatable to myself. 2- The relationship between Michelle and her daughter. My mom had me young and it reminded me a lot of our relationship as well as my shitty one with my own father and him having another family that he was happy to be Dad for but not me. 3- The Lawson family is truly what I wish my family could be, so good to each other. 4- The spice was on point, enough to keep it going, but not so out there that it's unrealistic.

Is this book going to win any literary awards, no. But, that's not why I read these types of books. If you want a feel good romance that includes a really good story about family and love, this is the book for you!

I read this book in exchange for an arc review.

I appear to be an outlier with my 2 star review considering its average is 4.3 but this book was just not for me unfortunately.

THings I liked about this book:
the characters

I really wanted to like this book the premise sounded fun and interesting but I just really struggled with it.

I felt the writing suffered from not doing enough show don't tell. And I felt a bit like I was being spoon fed the narrative.

Whilst I did like the characters they did feel a bit inconsistent at times as well. The main character(Michelle) goes from talking down Eve her daughter from slut shaming the new woman her ex is dating stating just because your dad sucks doesn't mean his girlfriend does to in the next chapter calling the waitress serving her and Dane (the love interest) Big Tits McGee in her head. Which made the previous conversation come across as insincere and made her feel a bit 2 dimensional.

I also felt like the relationship between the two characters was a lot like insta love. like the characters went from flirting with each other and saying oh maybe they'll do something casual to the mmc being obsessed with her for no reason other then he found her attractive.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I was lucky enough to read an ARC of Hot for Teacher by Stephane Renee, the fourth book in the series (though it can be read as a standalone). This is a small-town romance centering on Machelle, a single mom who hasn’t dated in over a decade, and Dane, the new teacher in town who unexpectedly turns out to be her daughter’s teacher and soccer coach.

The book is fast-paced, easy to get into, and brimming with chemistry between the main characters. While the story kept me engaged, I’ll admit the frequent sex scenes weren’t really to my personal taste. That said, they’ll likely be a highlight for readers who enjoy a lot of steam in their romances.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read that gave me a break from my usual genres and even pulled me out of a reading slump. If you’re a fan of steamy small-town romance with plenty of drama and heart, this book might be just what you’re looking for.

With each of the books in this series, I loved them more and more. The Lawson family, the small town, the romance, and the spice!

Book four follows Michelle, single mom of a teenager, as she may finally get the chance to find out for herself what a real relationship… and real love can be like! The relationship she has with her daughter is most important to her, and after years of putting herself last, she’s given the opportunity to do something just for her. She’s awkward, clumsy, and nervous, but I couldn’t help find myself cheering along as her confidence and views of herself steadily increased.

I was so excited to be able to read this book early after I enjoyed the first three books in the series so much! Following along with each sibling as they overcome their challenges and find love, real love, is both refreshing and enjoying with laughter out loud moments! The characters are relatable, and their stories are real-life. I can only hope there will be a 5th book to let us learn more about the mysterious youngest sibling, Jo!

4🌟, 4 🌶️

The kind of romance that makes you want to kick your feet and grin nonstop.

This story completely swept me away and it's not just a swoony slow-burn romance-it's also a touching story about a mom and daughter that hits you right in the heart.

Michelle, a single mom who had her daughter young, finally gets nudged back into love by her teen, Eve. Enter Dane: a Marine, now teacher, patient, steady, and utterly devoted to Michelle.

Their romance is sweet, tender, and impossible not to root for. Add in the warmth of Michelle's siblings-the Lawsons-and you've got a story that's as much about family as it is about love.

A love story full of warmth, family, and second chances
—I'Il be carrying this one in my heart for a while.

I received a digital ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

This book had my attention from the beginning and kept it until the very end. I kept having to put it down (because life), and I couldn’t wait to pick it back up again. I was thoroughly obsessed with the heat between the two main characters. There were points in the book where I was laughing out loud. Other times where I was yelling at the FMC to “Shut up, Woman! He gave you the time of your life AND he wants to cook for you! Just enjoy it!”

Most of what the characters said and did was realistic and made sense for them. There were two instances that this did not hold true: 1) Dane’s deep feelings for Michelle seemed very premature, as they had only known each other for about a week at that point. 2) Michelle telling her daughter to “get the f*ck out of the car” did not seem realistic for a mom to say to her teenage daughter.

There were a few grammatical errors, but nothing too distracting, and as I stated before, this was an ARC.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more by this author.

I received this as an ARC from the author and really enjoyed it. It is that perfect small town romance - giving off Gilmore Girls vibes but on the west coast. Michelle is a single mom who hasn't been out on a date in ages and hasn't had sex in years. Her daughter Eve is her single priority - but after a night out with her sisters, she decides to put herself out there with the MMC. Dane is a new transplant to the small town and is former military. He is HOT with a capital H and Michelle propositions him at the bar. There chemistry is intense and it was a very fun ride with these characters. I really loved the way Dane showed up time and again for Michelle and her daughter. I now have to go back and read the rest of the series.

ARC Review: This is the 4th book in The Lawson's series, but can be read as a standalone. This is my first read in the series, and I did not feel that I was missing crucial information from other books. I will for sure be reading the rest of the series later!

The story of Michelle and Dane was super sweet... and still HOT! I very much enjoyed that the main characters were mature adults, and not high school students.

I LOVED the relationship Michelle had with her family. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series to learn more about each of her sisters.

Overall, this was a very entertaining read. I appreciate the opportunity to read the ARC and share my thoughts!

This is such a heartwarming romance about second chances and the importance of family! From the very first page, it hooks you in. Michelle, a single mom who hasn’t been on a date in 10 years, decides to take a chance on a guy she meets at a bar.
Dane is a former Marine turned teacher and coach, and their chemistry is undeniable. The story itself is a solid 4⭐️ for me, and the 🌶️ rating is also a 4. It's a quick, charming read that will leave you smiling!
I received an ARC of this book, and I’d like to thank Stephanie Renee for entrusting me with it. She mentioned that this book is part of a series, but it works perfectly as a standalone. I’ll definitely be picking up the other books in the series—thank you again for the wonderful read!

3.75 ⭐️ I was so excited to get this book as an ARC! As a teacher, I love this trope. I would have love more sneak peeks into Dane’s teaching career, mostly cause I really liked the principal and wish he’d had more time in the story. The attraction between Dane and Michelle was palpable, and I especially loved all the family dynamics. Her sister Ronnie was a standout, and I’ll definitely be going back to earlier books in the series to read her story. Dane was such a great MMC, though I do wish his background had been fleshed out a bit more (even if I get why it wasn’t). Also, romances don’t usually have a “bad guy,” but this one had one I legit wanted to crawl into the book and punch. Overall, a great, spicy romance!

✨ arc ✨

I am very late with my arc review and for that I apologize to the author. But. What a cuuute storyline!! I had so much fun reading this! Michelle’s sisters remind me of my pack of best friends. I haven’t read a storyline like this before with a teacher but it was so fun. The internal struggle about dating your kids teacher has to be a weird feeling, and keeping it a secret has to be even harder. I do understand eve’s point of view tho, it has to be so hard to be in the middle of that. What a great read tho! So much fun! I plan on reading the rest of the series as soon as I can!

I truly enjoyed this book- I was SO excited to read this after seeing the blurb.

Michelle and Dane have very sweet chemistry, I love how goofy Michelle is and how kind Dane is. I loved how both main characters interacted with Michelle’s 15 year old daughter, Eve. So many times I found myself laughing at the dialogue (and the chapter titles!), there was a lot of sugar in this one, which made it an excellent palate cleanser.

Thank you, Stephanie, for this ARC!

Received this book as an ARC.
This book was the perfect quick palate cleanser for me between heavy books! The characters were developed so well, everything made sense and the flow of the book was amazing! As a curvy girl myself I freaking loved reading the story from the two different perspectives as you got to read the descriptions from Dane and compare it to how Michelle described herself!

I couldn’t put this book down! I will be going back and reading the rest of this series!

3.5⭐️ - I received an ARC copy of this book; I enjoyed it. It was a cute rom-com type story, I could easily see this becoming a Netflix movie. The relationship between mother/daughter reminded me of Gilmore Girls…in a good way. There were some parts where I felt the plot/story could have been developed a little bit more, but all in all, it was an easy read, with some good spicy bits 🌶️

Received an ARC, and I really enjoyed this book! It's the first book I've read by Stephanie Renee, but I will be going back to read the first books in the series. This book has a lot of feel good moments, and I really liked that even though Michelle was a little self-conscious, it wasn't her whole personality. I love her relationship with Eve and how she grew throughout the book. Overall, it was a pretty quick read with lots of good steamy/spicy moments mixed in! Would definitely recommend!

ARC Review: Hot Four Teacher: The Lawsons: Book 4 by Stephanie Renee

This book had so much potential, a single mom falling for a teacher could have been a great story, but it fell flat. The writing felt immature, with repeated phrases like “At least I tried to be” and “At least I hope I am”, overused italics, and lots of ellipses (…….)in the dialogue.

The characters’ conversations didn’t feel natural, and the chemistry between the leads was lacking. The plot seemed to focus mostly on sex, and the story overall felt unnecessarily long. Even the title, Hot Four Teacher, was confusing.

Overall, the book had a cozy vibe and a promising premise, but it just didn’t deliver.
