It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
Kyle loves his life as a Navy SEAL, but now a shattered ankle might kill his career a bit too early. He also loves his family, but he's not too happy about possibly joining his dad and brother in their construction company. Enter pop superstar Luna. She has a stalker and needs protection.
Luna and Kyle go from insta un-like to super sparky and very likey-like. LOL!
BUT CAN THEIR TWO EXTREMELY DIFFERENT LIVES BE JOINED SO EASILY? WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH LUNA + KYLE? READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! 😎

Adorable! I love SEAL stories and I love rock star stories. It wasn't really either here. We're not a real SEAL at the moment and Luna is not really a rock star and we're not in a war zone or on tour, but I still loved reading this! Kyle is a bit grumpy and sad because his dream life might be over. And Luna is just the right person to bring some joy back into his life - even though her life is not a lot of roses and sunshine either at the moment. Those two are just perfect for each other! But can they have a forever kind of thing with their jobs? We'll find out!
I was a tiny bit confused about all those other military guys and this Blessing lady. I'm confused a lot - so don't worry. If you followed this series, you would've met them all. (I haven't!) I did however read all of Cat's books - so I knew all the guys from the GAPS Security company! 😎
HOME FRONT was an adorable + sparky + little bit heartbreaking + funny + exciting Navy SEAL Pop Star love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Kyle - this one is MINE!
I have so very much enjoyed reading The Long Road Home series and was ecstatic to learn it will continue on in 2022. Yay! The last book in this current series, Home Front, was a great close out. Being sidelined from missions is every SEAL' s worst nightmare and Kyle Jones is in the middle of his nightmare. A temp job as close cover protection for a wildly popular superstar isn't exactly high on his "things I need to do once in my lifetime" list. The last thing Luna Blue wants is a 24/7 babysitter but recent threats have made her think twice. These two definitely get off on the wrong foot by making a lot of assumptions about one another. Spending time together has them both reassessing. Things escalate both with the threats and with the seriously hot chemistry between them. Keeping Luna safe has become Kyle's driving fore but once the job is done they go back to their lives. Were they just a brief interlude with the other or is there something more long-lasting there?
I love everything that I have read by Cat Johnson - I mean, come on, she had me at SEAL!
And when the singer meets the SEAL, you know I am on it like white on rice!
It is not really SEALy or rock starry, but that is fine. It is more about the mystery and our lovelies loving on each other
I loved seeing the GAPS guys, and I did like meeting the other military guys and Blessing, but didn't know what their stories were as I have not (yet)read the other books in the series.
Ms Johnson could write the chinese takeaway menu and I would read it hahah
Home Front Cat Johnson first read by this author, couldn't wait to get started after reading the blurb. Just wished I enjoyed it more. Loved the H, but the h was damn annoying. Really pushed myself to finish this book. The H deserved someone better IMO.
One knockdown after another makes Kyle realise just how fortunate he is to have his family, they may interfere, ask too many questions and generally be loud and crazy, but they love him and offer a backup nobody else can - no questions asked.....well maybe just a few! Luna craves the family life Kyle has, her life is fast paced, full on and totally out of her control. Decisions are made for her and she finds out after the public, there is danger, a tour to complete and a health scare that stops her in her tracks...but Kyle has the biggest impact I like that Kyle is man enough to admit when he has misjudged Luna and made incorrect assumptions, he may fight their chemistry and his feelings but he will never lie to Luna and to her the truth is everything. I really like this addition to the Long Road Home series, Blessing is her usual quirky self and I love that Kyle and the guys don't hesitate to drop everything at the end to provide support when it is needed most but expected least!
Sidelined SEAL, Kyle Jones’s worried he won’t heal well enough to return to his team, he caught his girlfriend with another guy in their bed and isn’t thrilled to be back in the over-loving arms of his family. Depressed Kylee decides to call the number USO hostess, Blessing gave him for a job. Kyle’s surprised by a quick callback with an assignment, personal security for mega-star singer Luna Blue for a few weeks.
There are problems, such as Kyle and Luna are oil and water. Luna’s going through a personal crisis and needs to be out of the public eye but their secluded location is found by the paparazzi. Unable to reach his boss and faced with keeping his client safe, Kyle’s running out of options. And her fiancé receives threats… concerning her. Rating: 4stars
I loved this last installment in the Long Road Home series! I love how everything started with Kyle. Right from the start I was hooked and needed to know how he was going to get past not only his injury but the breakup of his relationship as well. I loved his interactions with his family and friends-especially his brothers!! But then you throw in the awesome character of Luna! He makes a lot of snap judgments about Luna-and is proven completely wrong and I loved that! She is this person who is going through more than some. And while everything from the outside looks like her life should be all sunshine and rainbows, it isn't. She is real and going through things that women never want to think about. I loved how their relationship comes to fruition but more than that, I loved how they learned to actually talk to each other and ask for the things they want and need from each other. A beautiful story!! And that epilogue!! Loved it!!! Although, I think I need a story for Luna's cousin because while he made me mad a lot-I also would love to see how he heals and for him to have a HEA now!
I love this series so much Looking foward to the next books in this series. They have been some awesome cgaracters and journeys. Love Cat Johnson books they never let you down
Kyle breaks up with his girlfriend and heads home to rehab what could be a career ending ankle injury. At the Atlanta USO a volunteer named Blessing gives him a card for the Guardian Angel Protection Services thinking he might need an option for after leaving the Navy. Luna, a famous singer, has received threats that escalate. Her manager contacts Guardian Angel. Kyle calls Guardian Angels and accepts the job and is assigned as Luna's bodyguard. Kyle considers her to be a spoiled diva until the stalker threats become more aggressive. Can he protect her and keep his heart from getting involved with Luna who he thinks has a fiance? Can she be herself around Kyle and stay safe? A very good 5th book in the "Long Road Home" Series by the Binge Read Babes.
I’ve loved reading the long road home series. This book is the finale…..so far. Kyle is angry because he’s injured and might not be able to return to his seal team. While recuperating he takes on the job as Luna’s personal security. He soon learns not to judge a book by it’s cover. I throughly enjoyed reading Kyle and Luna’s journey into friendship and then love. I really enjoyed catching up with Blessing and finding a bit more about her. I’m even more delighted that there are going to be more books in the series and I can’t wait to read them.
Misconceptions wrapped up in surprises and twists with enough action to keep the story very interesting and moving forward. However, the romance binds this story together and makes it special. But it is the epilogue that pulls all of the threads together from all of the stories into a cohesive and perfect ending for the series. The Long Road Home series is a must read not to be missed series. So highly recommend Home Front and the entire series.
The story is simple but the author pulled together a plot with a number of twists and turns to keep you enthralled in trying to solve the mystery. Luna Blue, a music superstar is receiving threatening letters, calls and bad karma parcels which comes to a head with someone entering her hotel room and writing a short message on the mirror as she was taking a shower. Dan, her manager, takes it upon himself to organise a bodyguard, who due to personnel shortages as a result to missions so Kyle Jones on leave is approached while his ankle mends. There is many encounters which see Luna challenging her decision but as they both become comfortable with each other they become emotionally and physically entwined and both work towards making it work regardless of their work lives.
Omg what an ending for this series Luna and Kyle two of the most different yet same come together because a very difficult situation’s Kyle is waiting to see if his ankle heals so he can return to his seal team and Luna learning that she is also carries the gene for breast cancer elects surgery. But as things go meeting is not easy and the ever difficult situations occur that leave everyone wondering who the bad guy is. Kyle gets his temporary job from GAPS and let the good time rolls after. Blessing of course made her appearance in the beginning where Kyle eventually meets all the others from the Long Road home series she and the guys come together again however you’ll need to to read the book to learn what happens happy reading
A beautiful ending to an AMAZING series, Kyle and Luna finish with a bang, on medical leave from his team he takes a short job as a bodyguard when things get weirder for Luna, old friends and new friends coming together for the greater good, when they think everything is going right and not wanting it to end, things go wrong again, friends come to the rescue and mission accomplished, love wins, thank you fabulous ladies for this series, Dana Zamora
And so we come to the close of an epic series with a mix of stories that keep you entertained from the first page of the 1st book to the Last page of this book. These books are my introduction to Cat Johnson but they will not be the last, downloading book listing Now!
He thinks she is a dive. She thinks he is a jerk. They both figure out how wrong they are.
Coming home from deployment broken and not sure if his career is ended, Kyle finds his girlfriend in bed with someone else so he heads home to New York to recuperate. Luna is a rock star performing at several colleges near Albany when she starts getting threatening messages. Her manager/cousin hires a bodyguard and Kyle shows up. With the attitude they have towards each other, you wonder if they might end up killing each other or in bed wit each other. Can they work out their differences and figure out who is threatening her? Will it be the person the first suspect or someone else?
This was a love story that almost wasn't all because the books were being judged by their covers only. Thank goodness they opened their eyes. I am so loving these stories and Miss Blessing boys. I'm really looking forward to more stories coming in 2022.
❤️Protector Romance ❤️Wounded warrior ❤️Bodyguard vibes ❤️Opposites Attract ❤️Navy SEAL hero ❤️Super steamy forbidden love ❤️Lifestyles of the rich & famous That's what you'll find in HOME FRONT.
And guess what! There are more Long Road Home Books coming in 2022 and on preorder now, including my HOME FIRES. For now, here are the links to grab Home Front in ebook and paperback.
This author has continually used Special Forces characters without having a clue what they do, how they do it, skills they have etc. As an example she has Kyle who is a SEAL ask the stupid question as to how a computer can find a guy?? Too bad cause the gist of the story is good,.... it's just the author who isnt
I really did not like this installment. The writing was well done and the story was fine. It seemed to drag at the beginning and I never felt like the story clicked for me. It also seemed like the H’s injury healed at a very unrealistic pace - much too quickly.
This was a fun read with suspense and action. We meet Kyle, who broke his ankle and is on leave from his SEAL team. He gets a temp job as a bodyguard for a popular singer, which he isn't too excited about, but he can't handle sitting around his parents house any longer... he also doesn't want to babysit a spoiled pop star, so he is going to go in, do his job and hopefully be cleared to return to his SEAL team.
The last thing Luna Blue wants is a 24/7 babysitter but a few recent threats have forced her to get a bodyguard. She is finishing up her tour, and has to have surgery, so she will be in recovery isolation. When Luna meets Kyle, they don't get off on the right foot and make a lot of assumptions about one another. As Luna is recovering from surgery, and they are forced to spend time together in the rental home she has for her recovery, they both reassess their assumptions of one another and start to learn about each other.
As things start to escalate between them and their chemistry, their cover is blown and there is a threat against Luna. Keeping Luna safe has become Kyle's number one priority but once the job is done they go back to their own separate lives. Is she truly going to be safe, or is there another threat looming? Were they just a brief fling, or do they really have something real between them?
Home Front was a bit of a different scenario to the other books I've read so far in this series, being that Kyle is injured and on leave, rather than leaving the service altogether.
He is so frustrated at doing nothing while he's unable to be on active duty, he gets a role as a bodyguard, after my favorite character in this series... The 'woo woo psychic USO volunteer' Blessing. Gave him a business card as he left. She is the glue that binds these 5 stories together, and boy she's fascinating and I wish she would get more airtime 😉, although we do get an extra scene in this book, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The book has that bodyguard (I loved that movie) vibes, suspense, intrigue, plus some steamy scenes, with a little bit of small-town, family banter thrown in, both at the beginning when Kyle heads home, and later with Luna.
Luna ... She took a while for me to gel to, but I soon felt for her, having to deal with a stalker and a medical issue.
This gave for an interesting close quarter/ just the two of them situations.
The suspense in regards to the stalker was well done, and a few well placed red herrings kept me guessing till the end.
I'll be checking out some more from the series soon 😁
I borrowed Home Front ~ The Long Road Home ~ Book 5, by Cat Johnson from the Kindle Unlimited Program on Anazon.
Kyle Jones, Navy SEAL with a broken ankle, on crutches and with a boot to protect his ankle surgery ended up in the Alanta USO with five other service guys and a hostess that was very special.
He went home to New York and an interesting family with two funny pets (you have to love a grandmother with a foul mouth parrot that she found in her back yard bird bath).
Luna Blue AKA Luna Sanchez, singing star is on tour in New York when he meets her at a doctor's office. He then gets a temporary job with a secuity company to protect Luna from a stocker.
Lots of close calls, an excape in a box, a few days in a hunting cabin with no plumbing and a false trail to her cousin as the one threatening her until che came home and found a scary box on her front table when she got home to Maimi. Kyle rushed to Flordia, had help from the local security company and police and found the real threat... That is just the high points in this fast pace romantic suspense and a very special ending about Blessing.
An unlikable, spoiled princess of an FMC who doesn’t really have any redeeming qualities other than being hot, rich, and famous? Check.
An awful, incompetent MMC who willingly hooks up with someone he thinks is engaged and does a terrible job “protecting” the FMC? Check.
A completely anticlimactic ending with the villain being some random, unnamed, never-before-met character and with no description of how any of it unfolded? Check.
Magical, unrealistic, seemingly overnight healing of a shattered ankle and a double mastectomy for the sake of sexy times? Check.
The completely pointless inclusion of an ex dropped in throughout the story and a total dud of a wrap up for that plot device? Check.
I could go on…
Oh wait…there’s also nothing “small town” about this story. Nothing. It’s completely irrelevant to the story, as most things happen in Manhattan, Miami, and a two cabins that they never leave…so another ridiculously inaccurate thing about this book.
