A private jet, a fancy chef, a chauffeur…what could go wrong?
Suzanne Babcock was known for the brilliance of her smile—until an evil man broke her heart. The divorce forced Suzanne to realize that her adorable four-year-old son had no good male role model. What to do?
Aha—a genius Hire a man’s man as the new nanny. The man nanny. The manny! Enter Benjamin Sullivan, who discovers he can earn more caring for young Skip Babcock than he ever could as a seismologist. Which is how a flannel-clad man who knows all about earthquakes enters the Nanny Brigade of a posh Manhattan neighborhood, working for an extremely wealthy honey who has lost her smile.
As for her job as director of corporate sales at her family’s real estate empire? Trips across the country are required, as well as increasingly interesting conversations with her son’s nanny to while away the long and lonely nights. But an affair with the nanny…wouldn’t that be a horrible cliché? Especially with the evil ex lurking in the background, the course of true love never did run true!
Book three of the romcom Bad-Attitude Billionaires, SUZANNE is the spicy, laugh-out-loud sequel to QUINN and REGINA.
Pru Warren (who is writing this in the third person as if simply too modest to toot her own horn) bores easily and thus has been a daydreamer since roughly the Bronze Age.
She is addicted to writing romcoms because in a novel, you can make things come out the right way. Life and karma really ought to take note. There are better solutions to these pesky daily annoyances!
Besides her in-the-laptop god complex, Pru laughs often and easily, loathes cooking, and plays way too much solitaire. She’s plotting world domination even as you read this, as long as she doesn’t have to wake up too early to accomplish it.
Suzanne steps on to centre stage for this third book of this fabulous series. Her counterpart in the limelight is Benjamin/Benja, a seismologist whose love of geology and all things earth science related, couples with a tender, compassionate heart comes with emotional maturity and a beautifully bright mind comes to Suzanne'shousehold as Skip's nanny/ manny. He is just what the doctor ordered for Suzanne (and for Skip), whose beautiful, caring heart and soul has taken a battering from a greedy, feckless, soon to be ex, husband. Pru has created a world of wealth and privilege but has wrapped that world round characters who defy the stereotype of greed and self-importance. The Babcock clan is fun, a bit crazy, immensely fond of each other, and led by a feisty, strong, and imperious matriarch in Tabby. Each book in this series has had a very different 'feel' to it reflecting the nature of the main characters. As always, said characters are well fleshed out and realised. I have fallen in love with them all. But very special shout out must go to Skip, Suzanne's precious four year old. He is a total delight and has made me smile constantly as he navigates the world with so much joy. He reminded me of my glorious grandchildren whose spark ignites joy in me as it does in these wonderful fictional characters who seem more than that as you get to know them. Another truly 5 star read 💖✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Suzanne Babcock is an officer in her family's business. She is extremely wealthy and her soon to be ex-husband had married her for access to her money. They are in a difficult divorce that involves a custody battle for their 4 year old son, Skip. The ex is now with the former nanny and really has no relationship with the little boy. Because of her distrust of the ex, men in general, and the nanny, she has thoroughly investigated Benjamin, the top candidate to be the next nanny, or "manny." She keeps a close eye on Benjamin while he's with Skip.
Benjamin is an incredible choice. Loves kids, has been a scientist, a seismologist to be exact, and has tons of patience. He's teaching Skip about manners, science, and the world in general. Susanne is handed a huge assignment for her company so she's on the road a lot, but she keeps in close touch with Ben and Skip, bringing them along for one of the locations she's visiting. And she starts to develop feeling for the manny.
This is a fantastic story. Pru Warren has developed specialized knowledge for each of the books and this is no exception. The story is always interesting, with twists that are certainly unexpected. Some are delightful and some are stressful for the characters. The spicy scenes are sweet, tender, touching love-making between two people who have developed strong feelings.
I highly recommend this book, as I have every one of her other books.
I learned so much from Pru Warren’s new romcom, SUZANNE! I didn’t pick it up hoping to painlessly come to understand tectonic plates and the role time and pressure play in almost every aspect of life, but that’s what happened while I reveled in a sweet, touching story of a woman burned so badly that she’s certain she’ll never trust again who meets a man totally devoid of ulterior motives. Ben loves geology, family, teaching children, and caring for the planet, but fighting with bureaucracy has left him too tired to stay in the rat race. He ends up taking a job as a “manny,” caring for Suzanne’s young son while she serves her family’s corporate needs and fights for custody of her son with her evil, scheming ex-husband. This is the third book in the “Bad-Attitude Billionaires” series, and each one has grabbed my heart and filled me with wonder and delight. Yes, this family is filthy rich, but they suffer the slings and arrows of everyday life just like the rest of us, and I love spending time with them and vicariously enjoying their struggles and victories. And yes, I’d love the private plane and staff as well!
Romance readers love romance, right? We love the initial meet-ups, the building attraction, the does he/she or doesn’t he/she uncertainty, and we love the kiss scenes. Some of us crave the sex scenes and some don’t, but first kisses are universally anticipated and relished. SUZANNE, Pru Warren’s latest volume in her delicious “Bad-Attitude Billionaires” series, has one of the best kiss scenes this romance aficionado has ever read. And yes, it also has a pair of lovers you’ll be rooting for from the get-to, an interesting background plot that will have you pondering “huh, I wonder if something like that is actually going on?” a villainous ex-husband, and a precocious four-year-old you’ll want to smother in hugs. Can you jump into SUZANNE if you haven’t yet met the Babcock family? You can, but as soon as you’re done, you’ll want to hurry back to enjoy the earlier books. This is one fascinating family, based in Manhattan but with tendrils reaching all across the United States, and I cannot wait to see what comes next in TIMOTHY’s tale!
I think that the best summary of Suzanne's situation and state at the beginning of this novel would be: Superwoman + divorce proceedings = unravelling business executive + anxious helicopter parent. Add in an annoyingly handsome and sympathetic manny who actually is good with young boys, and I sadistically enjoyed the emotional mayhem bounding off in all directions. Tabby, Skip and Beth do not play cupid in this book, although they try (and I applaud their efforts), but I nominate Fourth for those honours. Lots of turmoil (legal and commercial and personal) finally level out to reveal the foundation of a HEA. Does joining the Babcock Portfolio have to be this dramatically difficult? This does not bode well for the remaining members. Is it bad of me to anticipate the torture to come?
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am loving my time back in the world of the Babcock family!
As we saw in Quinn and Regina's books, there are many challenges in their lives, and Suzanne is doing her best to handle it all. Being the mother to an inquisitive, active 4-yr old boy, and keeping up with his energy level is not easy, especially when you are in the middle of a difficult divorce, and your job responsibilities are demanding. She is over-the-top anxious, regarding Skip's well-being! Other than Pansy and Nelson, she keeps to herself. Obviously the Babcock family cannot afford to take chances with their safety when inviting someone into their world, so after an arduous vetting, Benjamin is selected to be Skip's "Manny".
Benjamin is an easy character to enjoy, as he is honest, educated, and wonderful with Skip. Suzanne is slow to trust, and can't seem to believe that things can actually be what they seem to be, and that someone else is also protecting her son. Understandable, based on what we know about Skip's dad, but heartbreaking all the same. Tabby, ever the taskmaster, pushes Suzanne to meet the challenge she has set for her, and rely on Ben to care for Skip while she travels.
It was incredibly easy to turn the pages in this story, and follow the progressing feelings between Suzanne and Ben. There were really funny interchanges, sizzling chemistry, and I loved their text chain. While the situation near the end bugged me (both Suzanne and Ben), I was thrilled with how it was resolved, who clarified the decision, and why the choice was made. Truly a heartwarming exchange.
I really enjoy the creativity of this author and series. Reading in order is absolutely key for your best experience, and I cannot wait for my next trip into the Babcock world.
Fortunate to have received an ARC (thank you) I happily leave my thoughts.
Single mom/Manny, anxious girl boss, evil ex, laugh out loud (with some possible snorts) with hot spice!
This is not the first book in the series, but it can be read as a complete stand-alone. However I think you will get more out of it if you have read the other books as you have met some of the characters before. But don’t let that deter you. This can be a stand-alone. But it will make you want to read all the other books!
I loved this book! The characters’ personalities are allowed to come out in a natural flow. Besides that, they are relatable and realistic. From the antics of a 4 year old boy repeating what has been said, to the mom having to self censor her own language. The boy mom reality is right there, front and center. Believable characters, issues and resolutions include a single mom navigating parenthood, work, and relationships with her ex, her family, and the manny.
I am really enjoying this series even more than I expected (I love Pru Warren books). Love the characters and the plot. I am looking forward to Timothy’s story.
I tried to rate and review the first two books in this series but Amazon has an error or bug that would not allow me to rate and review Quinn or Reggie.
I think Suzanne has been my favorite story in the Babcock world. Suzanne is a struggling single mom who of course over time falls for her Manny. Ben is thinking he has found a gold line of a job never expected his feelings for the kid and the mom..Skip and Ben together are absolutely adorable. Ben and Suzanne are kinetic. Ben just seamlessly fits for Suzanne and Skip, and he fits with the family. This story is sweet, flirty, smoking hot with some angst and chuckles mixed in.
