There's Something About Dragons: A How I Met My Monster Standalone

Rate this book
Falling for a dragon once was a mistake. Giving him a second chance? That's just asking to get burned.

Here's the thing about dating don't. Especially if you're me. My first dragon boyfriend, Zed? Gorgeous, charming... and responsible for the worst night of my teenage life. The ones who came after? All ghosted me when they found their fated mates.

I learned my No more dragons. It never ends well.

Fast-forward fifteen years, and guess who strolls back into my life? Zed—older, hotter, and still single. He only wants one date, but he's overdue to find his mate. I should walk away before he disappears a second time. But there's still something about him that makes my carefully mended heart skip a beat.

Should I let myself fall for the dragon who destroyed it… and risk getting burned (again)?

There's Something About Dragons is a steamy, monstrous update of the beloved hit movie There's Something About Mary. It's part of the How I Met My Monster series, a brand new shared world from Sara Ivy Hill, Krista Luna, and Ami Wright that reimagines the romcom classics we all love… with a few extra horns, tusks, scales, and tails!

I saw this advertised on TikTok about a week ago & the cover & description instantly grabbed me & wouldn’t let go. I went to purchase to find out it wasn’t out until 26 Aug & was gutted I had to wait. It was definitely worth the wait! It was a really nice story with twists & turns so it keeps you interested. Sara has written characters you can identify with (yes, even the dragons/monsters). I fell in love (as I usually do) with the characters. I was really rooting for them. I was reading the ebook as well as listening to the audio & I could picture everything. And I mean EVERYTHING 🐉🍆🍆🌶️🌶️🌶️. There was some very nice steamy spice - some excellent visuals & a little bit of potty mouth to go with.

Before this, I’d never heard of Sarah Ivy Hill & I don’t think I’d heard anything with Amy Hall or James Cassidy but I’m so glad I found this. I love that they used really talented sound actors (because they aren’t only narrators, they’re so much more) did a wonderful job. They sounded brilliant! Amy did a fab job with Zed & James was the same with Cari - it’s so rare to find a dual narration that doesn’t make you cringe when the actors have to play the other gender. The voice of Zed/Feral was delicious. This is going on my regular re-read list. Absolutely wonderful world & I can’t wait to read/listen to the rest. I hope she keeps the same narrators or has ones with the same ability to draw you in. I’ve added them all to my “watch for” list.

📝My Thoughts:
You guys, I confess. I have such a sweet spot for a monster romance. Especially one with a sweet giant cinnamon roll who just can’t help himself! This was a fun There’s Something About Mary reimagining, but make it dragons and endow him thrice. This childhood friends to lovers, second chance romance was the perfect little palate cleanser of a novella. The slow burn burrrned (in the best way), but it finished strong!

Zed and Cari were incredibly sweet together, and I loved getting a peek into their story. It had a great balance of charm, humor, and sweet and I really enjoyed it!

🎧James and Amy did such a great job bringing these characters to life! Their timing, chemistry, and character work made it such an enjoyable listen. The audio was fantastic and delivered all the growly dragon goodness I could ask for.
