2.3 stars. 13th Sep 2026. Read this only for Khemet, the Anubis. Cuz i've done my waiting.. All 15 years of it. It's not like how i would've wanted to read a story/erotica with him AT ALL. But beggars can't be choosers. Sadly, this is the only thing i came across.

A mechanic who thinks he's "straight" get fucked by an Anubis in a bath house. It's exactly what i'd expect a Roman bath house story to be but set in alternate modern time. It's open ended. No romance.

Didn't like Chris.

Loved Khemet ofc! Anubis is a type of monster here and not THE Anubis, thank God.

This isn't solely about Anubis, but about the whole bath house experience. So 1st encounter with a different anonymous monster (incubus), then eventually landing on Him.

Before meeting Anubis, Chris fucks an incubus through a glory hole while in the bath house. Didn't like that he rawdogged the incubus as sloppy 2nd/3rd/who knows what number. Maybe STDs don't exist in this world?

It has 2 sex scenes. 1 with Anubis where Chris receives, and 1 prior with another guy where Chris gives. It was okay, nothing spectacular.

OW info: Chris had a gf who broke up with him. They used to have obligatory weekend sex but it meant nothing to him. He mentions thinking of the monsters and their dicks while doing her. 💀

Chris is a mechanic. Just so we’re clear, he is a Man’s Man. (Because, you know, us gay guys are never masculine.)

The gay bathhouse that caters to both humans and monsters has intrigued Chris for a while now. Angry and frustrated after a bad breakup, Chris gives in to his curiosity.

Gay Denial. Excessive talk of women, especially his ex. 👎🏻

Internalized homophobia is ratcheted up quite high.

Showers, glory hole, hot tub…

Khemet is an Anubis. Tall and muscular, all black, with fur and glowing eyes.

Private massage, with special oil.

The action is passable with anatomy and other elements, and the physiology improves as the narrative moves along…but this needs additional descriptive detail. The page count certainly allows for it.

Strong with Discovery, but Awakening is cursory. Chris admitting that he’s not straight—and never was—at the end…it’s too little, too late.

Not expecting insta, but the vague ending certainly does not qualify as an HFN. And this book does call itself a “romance,” after all. 👎🏻

Short, but oh so good! And full of spice! Chris, a hot mechanic, is going to discover himself and his deepest desires in the Bathhouse - where he meets Khemet. He is an Anubis. Guys, go read it. Khemet is one of the hottest Beasts I've ever came across. I wish there was more. I can't wait for the next one!
