Moss: The Goblin Sorcerer is a captivating fantasy read that offers a refreshing and nuanced take on classic tropes. The author wrote a vibrant and immersive world in Parabola. The world-building is a particular strength, seamlessly enhancing the narrative without ever feeling like a distraction from the central story.

The characters are truly the heart of this book. The protagonist, Sydney Moss, undergoes a remarkable transformation from a long-imprisoned fugitive to a budding sorcerer, with his journey to becoming a master being a compelling and joyous read. I was especially fond of Dolos, a wizened wizard whose role as a mentor is both wise and witty. Furthermore, the Archangels are a fascinating addition—a group of powerful but deeply flawed individuals who add a layer of intriguing complexity to the overarching plot.

Overall, I recommend this book for fans of fantasy looking for something fresh. The intriguing magic system and excellent character development make it a standout read that's well worth your time.
