The Lies That Bind #1

The Risk in the Remembering

An FBI agent undercover. An ex-Ranger she can’t forget. One deadly game that could burn them both.

FBI Special Agent Victoria Stevens has one infiltrate the club, expose the syndicate, and survive working alongside the man who once shattered her heart. Getting her hands on the books will take nerves of steel—and keeping her cover means pretending Sean Porter is just another obstacle, not the reason her pulse won’t slow.

From the moment she walks in, Sean knows “Vicki” isn’t who she says she is. But the woman he walked out on fourteen years ago is back in his sights, and he’s not about to let her go again. Staying close might be dangerous, but letting her go could end him.

When fate throws them together in a high-stakes game of lies, one wrong move could cost them their lives. But the truth lurking in the shadows might cost them everything else.

The Risk in the Remembering is a gripping second chance FBI romantic suspense thriller with high stakes, sizzling tension, and a love worth fighting for.

I have graciously received an advanced reader copy and yes, you are about to read a 5 star review!

This is the novel that will kick off your Summer reading in all the right ways.

What it promises you will get. A well paced story in which the varying point of views deliver a unique experience. You are right there with the characters, engaged in a believable plot.

A constant give and take.

A storyline peppered with a dash of action and the right amount of romantic sprinkles.

You will devour chapter after chapter of this well-rounded entirely satisfying read.

I was very fortunate to receive the ARC Reader edition of this to read and review in advance of the book’s general release which is quite a special experience. 😀

This is book is refreshingly fast paced, where the narrative of the story builds the characters. Nicely balanced, tight writing and reeled me in very quickly.

Victoria and Sean haven’t seen each other in 14 years, and they had been so in love until one night it all fell apart. She is now a Federal Agent in Florida investigating undercover local club owner Dan Drucker, who is also involved in all kinds of shady dealings . Sean, at loose end after his tours of Afghanistan and Syria with his CO Lt Drucker, is now working at the club, as he feels he owes Drucker a debt of gratitude for “saving“ him from certain death in several instances and sees no other prospects on the horizon. Until he meets Victoria again. And all heaven and hell breaks loose.

This book was a lot of fun to read. A sharp, smart and rollicking action thriller with a spicy kick. Can’t wait to see what else Aimee Schaeffer has next in store!

I was given an advanced readers copy of The Risk in the Remembering. (My very first and it was an honor) A romantic thriller that has it all - great plot, short chapters, main characters you will fall in love with, and side characters you will despise. Definitely worth the read!

excellent

The longer I read the better it got. Twists, turns and an unexpected ending. There has to be another book to finish the story.
