Finn is 32 and a nurse. He got burned out with his job, always putting in extra hours because there was always a need for extra nurse coverage. He hasn't had much of a social life in the last few years, he's been pulling away from his friends because of work. His sister Mel is moving to Canada because her fiance wants to come back home to be there for his mother who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and needs care. Finn decides to move to Canada too, because he wants to be close to his sister, but also he really needs a change professionally and socially. He's trying to find a job that will make him feel fulfilled, but won't become the absolute drain on his life that his past job was. One of the few pleasures that he's had over the last year for himself has been watching the videos of his favorite camboy, Gunner, who performs solo and is really interactive, who talks to his viewers as if they are his lover, giving a real personal experience.

Curtis is a little bit younger than Finn. He is the best friend and surrogate brother to David, Mel's fiance. He's a graphic artist and aspiring artist / author. He's afraid of failing at something really important to him, afraid of being vulnerable by showing his writing/creation. He's been working as a camboy under the name Gunner to make a living well he's in this zone of running away from his greater aspirations, and he's been doing really well.

Finn is shocked when he realizes that Curtis is the camboy he's been lusting over. Half of the book is full of the tension of them both wanting each other, but not wanting to get together because if they didn't make it as a couple it would be really messy for David and Melanie and everyone. Curtis didn't want a relationship. That first 50% is brimming with longing and build up of sexual and emotional tension as there's so much chemistry between them and they want it so bad but they're fighting themselves. Top tier! Then in a vulnerable moment, they make excuses to let themselves be together but to keep it professional, to film together, have rules. And yeah, that's going to blow up in their faces, they're both feeling too deep about each other.

This was a really good book. I loved that first 50% where they were getting to know each other and fighting so hard against the sexual attraction and emotional attachment that was growing between them. It was so well written, the emotion was so natural between them, the characterization was built up so well - that time just zoomed by and we got to know them so viscerally in such a natural way. That's not to say I didn't love the rest of the book, I did love the rest of the book, I'm just giving feedback on that era of their relationship! The next era of their relationship was when they started hooking up for filming purposes, and that was good too, there was so much steam between them and emotion was always creeping in, there was always this vulnerability that they showed each other, there was trust and support between them as they dealt with Beth's Alzheimer's and the challenges of the wedding. They broke up for a couple days because they had to confront that their relationship was moving from professional to real, and Curtis wasn't ready for that. There was a satisfying coming back together.

I enjoyed the friend and family dynamics. The friend group was really supportive but also called them on their s***. There was a bunch of hilarious moments and also really deep emotional moments where you could see why they were so good for each other. These guys were both really good people and a good match for each other, Finn was the golden retriever that Curtis needed. And Curtis was really everything that Finn wanted.

Some notable moments:

"“We should probably go back in.” I nod but gesture to my groin. “I’m going to need a second.” His strangled laugh is oddly attractive. “Tell me one thing first.” Then he holds up both pointer fingers an inch apart and slowly moves them away from each other. “Tell me when.” It’s too hard to judge from here, but I humor him. “About there.” “Damn, okay.” He looks between his fingers, and his appreciation spurs me on. “That’s not the best part though.” Then I make a circle with my fingers, the size of my cock in my hand is basically muscle memory by this point. Curtis’s jaw drops. “Holy shit.”"

Poor Finn, he was spiralling. Hilarious. "“You … told the florist. About what you did.” “I didn’t tell her the whole story. Just that there is this guy I really like, and she asked how badly I’d fucked up, so I said out of ten, probably a twelve, and then she asked me what type of guy you were and whether or not you’d even appreciate flowers. Long story short, after that, I might have freaked out more, and so I decided to cover all my bases. I went to Home Depot for all your power tool needs.” He grabs the bright orange bag and pulls out an … electric drill. “And then it occurred to me that, duh, you’d probably appreciate a sex toy.” He throws me a pink, nameless bag. “But then after I bought that, I thought you might see that as your job, and maybe you didn’t want a present that reminded you of that or that I was talking to you as Gunner, so I almost kept it for myself. But in for a penny, in for a pound, right?”"

"Alfie, who’s sitting opposite me, cocks his head. “You’re not sitting with …” He tries to be subtle as he nods sideways in Finn’s direction, but he practically headbutts Angie next to him. “No.” That’s all I’m going to give him. Beside me, Dolcie passes me her red wine, and I down it like a shot as I ignore the way Alfie is looking at Finn. “Does this mean I can—” I cut Alfie off before he can finish that sentence. “Touch him and fucking die.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

I always rely on these author's when I'm looking for a fun, lighthearted book to read, but their standalone's are always more serious in content and tone and Money Shot is similar to the vibes of The Bastard and The Heir, and Up In Flames, which I really enjoyed.

There may be mild spoilers ahead if you haven't already read the blurb and teasers for the book.

I will admit that I did not like Curtis for the longest time. I felt so protective over Finn immediately and I was mad at Curtis for being so stupid and short sighted, but also Finn kind of made his bed so I couldn't be too mad at the situation!

They definitely have good chemistry and they know they're sexually compatible but Curtis's fear of commitment and rejection was a really huge hurdle for their relationship, no matter what stage they were at. There were times when he got his 'Gunner' set up ready where I was shouting 'WTAF dude!!!' and although he does have his epiphany about his feelings for Finn, I think I needed to see a bit more of Curtis's soul searching because he didn't strike much emotional connection from me.

The situation with Curtis's surrogate mum and Alzheimer's was so incredibly sad and brought a lot of seriousness and emotional upset to the main cast of characters. In all seriousness, if you are going to be triggered by a prominent side character who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, this is not the book for you.

I did enjoy the wider friendship group though and it kind of had that early 2000's sitcom feel, and the whole wedding plot was fun too - the cupcakes made me giggle because I totally did that at my wedding!

I would have liked to see more of Curtis and Finn actually officially together though, because most of the book is about the push and pull between them, and Curtis refusing to let it be anything other than a business arrangement. They don't get together as an actual couple until very late in the book, and although we get a couple of chapters of them together and an epilogue, I was left wanting a bit more of them between the end of the story and the epilogue so that I could be satisfied that Curtis was definitely in it?

These author duo really never disappoints 💞

Curtis is a camb0y. He uses the app Money Shot to make photos, or short clips, to earn some money. Finn happens to be one of his long-time suscribers. When Finn's sister gets married, the paths of Curtis and him cross and it doesn’t take too long until they realize they might know each other from the Money Shot platform. That's a lot to unpack, right? Well, the fun just starts with that for these two 🤭

I loved the build up of the story here, since it's something I've never really read about before and it really hooked me good.

There are some sensible topics mentioned in this story, so please be aware of that before diving into it.

I really enjoyed this one 💗

Oh that was good!

Eden & Saxon's standalone books seem to always have a bit more of an edge than some of those they write for their series long collaborations and this one is no exception.

The sex worker element isn't really what tips this into being a more serious narrative though.

It's the sympathetic way in which Alzheimer's in a relatively young person is treated as a mirror to Curtis' own self-destruct mechanism for pushing away anyone who gets close to him.

This book also manages to be both insta-lust and slow burn at the same time, which takes some clever writing and how this occurs is because of the unique situation the two men find themselves in.

Finn has been a subscriber to Gunner's Money Shot account for a year, getting off big time to a man who just does something to him, even though he's never seen his face. The videos provide him with a sense of connection in what had become a pretty lonely world because of the long hours of his job as an A&E nurse.

Moving to Canada to help his sister with her wedding and find more time for himself brings a new complication in the shape of Curtis, his sister's fiancé's best friend.

The chemistry is instant but the situation of them being the best men and family puts a holt to that. Until Finn realises that Curtis is Gunner.

No spoilers, but I liked the way the secret came out and how it was handled.

The situation with David's mum, Beth, who became Curtis' adoptive mother in everything but the legal way, is heart-breaking.

Curtis feels responsible for not noticing sooner, while David was living in America with Finn's sister Mel, and his guilt is mixed in with his sense of abandonment from his parents not giving a shit either.

He drives people away and it takes a lot of hard truths and a dawning sense of self-awareness for Curtis to realise that he's risking something really special by keeping Finn at arm's length.

It's not an easy ride to happiness for these two, even while it becomes a smoking hot one as they get on cam together while Curtis maintains his emotional distance and Finn falls more for him every time.

Everything about this story worked for me, even when Curtis was doing his best to remain an emotional void, because I could see how desperately he was trying not be vulnerable again and be left with more hurt.

Finn was just the best cinnamon roll ever, but he wasn't overly perfect either. He also behaves poorly, not telling Curtis he knows that he's Gunner once he finds out. But I understood him too.

He's moved to be near his sister, and he's also dragging his feet about finding a new job and making new friends because he's also scared.

Together they're seriously steamy, but it's when they both allow their emotions in that the romance really kicks up a notch and, while I would have loved a bit more of them once they were together officially before it skipped ahead, the Epilogue does give a lovely glimpse into their future.

A low-stakes, steamy romance between a camboy and his biggest fan. This book managed to be unique and charming, with lovable characters and fantastic plot-devices!

Finn has recently moved to Alberta to be close to his sister, who is getting married soon. Finn may be a romantic, but he’s not had time for romance. This is why he loves Gunner, a camboy whose sexy videos are the highlight of his day. When Finn gets to Canada he meets his sister’s husband to be, and his family. This includes Curtis, who Finn quickly realizes is actually his favourite camboy. A tale of hidden identities, steamy messaging, and learning to be vulnerable with others ensues.

This book has:
-camboy x gentle giant
-hidden identities (‘he doesn’t know I know’ vibes) and dramatic reveals
-loves romance x has sworn off relationships
-making p*rn as an excuse to spend time together
-vers couple
-meddling family

Eden Finley and Saxon James have written an insane amount of MM romance stories, yet somehow managed to come out with yet another with uniquely lovable characters and a storyline that will have you gagged! I ate this book up FAST! It’s fast-paced, and there’s the perfect balance of suspense, feelings, steamy content, and plot!

Absolutely pick this up on November 6!

Easy to read, fun plot and interesting characters. I had a fantastic time reading this mid-angst, spicy book about two men who are thrust together when their sister and best friend get married. This could have been just another fluffy romcom however the depth of character back-story and addition of friends and family as side characters gave this a really well-rounded story.

The premise is a camboy and his subscriber realise that they actually know each other in real life. They have to battle with their real-life friendship and their on-screen connection.

- Camboy/subscriber
- Friends with benefits to more
- Forced proximity

This book was spicy, heartfelt and enjoyable. I really hope that we get more stories from the other characters we met!

Thanks for Foreword PR for providing and ARC copy. This review is my honest opinion.

Finn and Curtis

I really enjoy when these authors write together, the flow is seamless and there are always great characters, chemistry, and a happily ever after. Money shot was good, but I had trouble not being mad at Curtis for how he kept Finn at arms length. I loved Finn to pieces, but it hurt me so watch him settle for what Curtis was willing to give him. They definitely had sizzling chemistry and some smoking hot scenes, but everytime Curtis took out the camera I was so frustrated.
I adored the friends and family group and how they were an integral part of the story. Be careful if watching a loved one with Alzheimers is a trigger as Beth's decline was portrayed in some detail throughout the book. It was handled so well, but still so sad to read about. I also really wanted more of Finn and Curtis as a couple! It was so sweet when they finally stopped the push and pull but we didn't get enough of them officially together. Overall a good read, especially for diehard fans of these authors, but just didn't fully come together for me

"I'm Canadian. If it's not about hockey, it's not worth throwing fists over."

"What first made you decide to want to be a p0rn star?"
"I have ugly feet, so photos were out."

"It's hard to self-sabotage when all I want is to hold onto you forever."

The giggles I giggled while reading this book! 🤭🤭😂
I don’t usually read camboy stories, because I honestly haven’t come across many, but when I saw these two queens were writing one? I knew I had to read it—and OMG, it did not disappoint! 🤭🤭🤭

The chemistry between Finn and Curtis was EVERYTHING. I absolutely devoured their banter. 😂😂😂

Finn moves to Canada with his sister and her fiancé, because the latter had to return home to take care of his mother. During his sister’s engagement party, he meets Curtis, who happens to be his soon-to-be brother-in-law’s best friend… and yeah, also his favorite camboy, though he doesn’t know that right away, of course. 🤭

They immediately connect and are attracted to each other, but since they’ll be in the same social circle, they decide not to act on it. 😅
Of course, things get… a little complicated when Finn finds out Curtis IS his favorite camboy. 🤭🤭🤭

I had so much fun reading this book, and I can’t recommend it enough. 💙💙💙

I felt like this was the result of the Eden Finley/Saxon James MM juggernaut noticing a trend in readers wanting pornstar/camboy gay romance novels and then deciding to capitalize on it without any real substance or heart. This is SO corny to say but Money Shot felt like a cash grab.

Truly don’t know how this couple will ever stay together. Zero personal development from Gunner and I also just really really hated how Finn’s feelings were essentially used to emotionally blackmail him into doing porn.

If this is your first time reading a camboy/pornstar main character, please don’t let this push you away. There are some truly AMAZING novels out there. This is not one of them.

Dare I say I have a new favorite Eden & Saxon book!?!? This was SO GOOD!!! I read it in one sitting!!!Literally could not put it down!! The way these two write together is nothing short of magical. It’s always so seamless and with so much depth to the characters!

Curtis and Finn are perfect examples of this. They feel so real and you can empathize with them. They are completely different but exactly what the other needs. The chemistry between them was palpable and undeniable. The OTT flirty banter and (semi) anonymous sexting was hot!! The cam work was spicy and fun!! There were heartfelt and emotional moments, steamy encounters and lots of sibling meddling. I just loved everything about this book!

Star rating = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice level = 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Releases = November 6th

"I'm promising to give him my whole heart, and all I ask is that he do the same in return."

I read this in one sitting, so that should tell you all you need to know.

David definitely described Finn perfectly, even if he was drunk (yay bachelor parties)...."He's like....cinnamon wrapped up in pastry with that gooey sauce on top." Yes, Finn is the cinnamon roll of all cinnamon rolls. You just can't help falling in love with him from the start. The way he takes care of everyone around him, just makes him the perfect man.

Curtis is extremely closed off when it comes to relationships. He decides from the beginning that relationships don't work, so why bother trying. Unfortunately, life doesn't work that way and before he even realizes it, he and Finn are breaking all the rules.

From instant attractions to having to hear hard truths and fixing things, Finn and Curtis were always inevitable. Sometimes meddling siblings do know what's best after all.

Underwhelming

I had a lot of hope for this book because the plot sounded super interesting and fun, the book was alright at best. I feel like there should’ve been more connections between the two MC’s and we also barely get any time with them actually being together in a relationship. The whole book we focus on one problem the entire time and then at 93% into the book finally the other MC “falls in love” it just felt like the book went from 0-100 without much of a buildup it was like “i have commitment issues and i don’t let myself be in relationships” for THE ENTIRE TIME and then he talks with his friend ONCE and all of a sudden he’s in love, he wants a relationship, and can see a future with the other MC. I don’t know this book just didn’t meet expectations and for being a book about a cam boy the spice was barely there 3⭐️ 1.5🌶️

Copy received from Foreword PR for an honest review

I have been deeply immersed in the Saden hockey worlds. so it was a nice palatte cleanser to read something out of those universes.

And Money Shot is sexy and sweet with some deep and emotional times.

Finn moves to Canada to be near his sister and her fiancee David, and his life is kind of floundering. Unemployed, in a new city, feeling like a bit of a burder to his sister, Gunner is the only real constant and joy in his day to day.

Curtis, well, he and his walls frustrated the heck out of me. I flip flopped between really liking the guy and ... not. Those "Gunner walls he erects around himself were so not needed with our guy Finn - whom I loved from the get go.

I enjoyed watching those walls crumble, and watching the friendship grow between Finn and Curtis, even knowing that shoe was going to drop.

The way Curtis is with his surrogate mumma is heartwarming, but so heartbreaking at times. I feel that all the characters dealt with what was going on in her life. This softened my heart a lot to the Curtis I wasn't liking hahah

There is so much of the push/pull between Finn and Curtis, and in the end we did not really get much of them as a couple, and I would have really liked that. Maybe we can get a novella or some bonus chapters in the future.

Finn • Curtis

….

“For what it’s worth, you’re maybe the bravest person I know.”

….

And the power duo is back with another to my collection. Though this one might seem lighter from reading the blurb it actually touches on some very hurt/comfort moments that can tag on your heartstrings handled in the most sensitive way.

What can I tell you about Curtis and Finn. They’re meant to be. It’s pure “I-want-you” tension from the get go. But there are a few obstacles in their way. Are you curious if they can overcome it all?

If you work on it.
If you understand each other.
If you let the other in emotionally.
If you’re honest.
Let go of fears.
When you start completing each other.
All is possible.

….

“It’s the sweetness factor.” // “The six-and-a-half-foot sweetheart cutie is a total mood killer. How did I miss that?” // “No boyfriend should have to compete with a fantasy man.” // “Why won’t I ever get to have a man like him?” // “Give me a call after you pick your jaw up off the floor.” // “I can’t believe you said that. It’s like finding out Santa isn’t real.” // “The way I want him is indescribable. I’d climb into his skin if I could.” // “Just … happy.” // “…and why he deserves all of my heart.” …

….

*I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

ARC review: While this was a fast burn in the sense of tension and chemistry this definitely had a more slow burn in regards to actual spicy scenes. These two took idiots in love to another level. While I understood Curtis’s hang ups regarding relationships the fact that he built so. many. walls even though every person told him how much a romantic Finn was and how Finn was more of a relationship guy plus every action Finn did that proved how decent of a human he is 🤦🏻‍♀️ I would’ve liked maybe a tad more groveling or rather chasing when it came to Curtis. Maybe Finn could’ve started the moving process or was taking interviews out of town elsewhere and Curtis has to actually chase him down but overall it was a really enjoyable book. I liked the direction the cam-boy trope took. Don’t know if this is going to be a series or a standalone but I look forward to any other future book.

I liked it enough but didn't love it. think I was let down a bit but it's probably from my own expectations. I found it hard to believe in their connection because so much revolved around camming and there were never enough tender moments between them before Finn reveals his feelings. And it felt like Curtis was pushed into his own feelings instead of realising them. I wanted more for Finn to be honest.
Both my godmother and my second mother suffer from early onset dementia, so I was not sure how I'd react reading about Beth. Reading about a character like Beth in a very realistic way, and showing how the disease progresses was hard to read but somehow I feel better for it. Sometimes all we can do is go with the flow and make sure they're still supported and loved in good and bad days alike.

cw - smut (a lot of it), cam-boy content,
tw - family illness (alzheimer’s)

i read this the second it dropped and honestly? i devoured it. i even made a couple friends read those chapters because… yeah, they’re intense, and i’m a sucker for the whole camboy/subscriber + hidden identity thing. eden finley & saxon james never miss, once again.

there were a few choices the characters made that i wouldn’t have done myself, especially with curtis where i really felt like he needed more time to sit with everything instead of getting slammed with reality by david. melanie was too pushy. but i guess that's siblings' behavior (mine aren't that invested, sadly).

the scenes with the mom’s alzheimer’s hit me so hard i actually cried, and the wedding scene did it again.
finn is just the sweetest man alive, and curtis deserves all of it.

it was fast, emotional, and honestly, very fun. sad it’s a standalone because i would’ve happily read a whole series of camboys.

also, alfie can absolutely fuck himself.

I was dying to read this book, everything about it had me so excited and I absolutely love when these two authors write together, but I’m sad to say I didn’t love it. I did enjoy it, though. It was fun, it made me laugh so many times, and I adored both MMCs and several of the side characters—especially David and Mel. But yeah… I liked it enough, just didn’t love it, and that honestly makes me a little sad.

My problem with it was more about me than the book itself. I just didn’t feel the connection, desire or emotion coming from either of the MMCs. I knew the scenes were supposed to be full of tension, but I never actually felt it, and even when both of them expressed in their internal monologues how badly they wanted each other, it just didn’t land for me. So yeah, I think it’s definitely more of a “me” thing than Finn and Curtis lacking tension or a solid connection.

That was the only thing that kept me from fully loving this book, since I adore when I can not only see the connection but also feel it. Other than that, it was a really enjoyable read. It had its comedic moments, and I genuinely liked both MMCs. Finn was so freaking adorable, and I will forever be weak for the whole gentle giant vibe. Curtis had a lot of issues, and yeah, I hated many of his decisions, but it was clear that his past shaped the way he approached love and relationships. I just wish we had gotten more background on him.

I absolutely loved the idea of this book, and even though I didn’t end up loving it overall, it was still a really good, fun, light hearted and cute read with great spice… so I’m definitely not complaining.

I don't know what we did to deserve a steamy little Eden and Saxon standalone but I am SO THANKFUL!

I love a camboy story, but I've never read one like this before. The added element of a secret identity trope and Curtis and Finn having a boatload of chemistry both in person and (unknowingly) online, was so much fun!

These two were so good together, and their emotional connection was such a slow burn, but I really liked that, as I think it made sense for their characters (Curtis in particular)

Also I have to say, there's something just SO hot about them being immediately, undeniably attracted to each other and struggling desperately not to hookup because they know they shouldn't!🥵

I love an Eden and Saxon standalone.

Curtis and Finn were adorable. I really liked this one. Curtis and Finn meet when Finns sister marries Curtis’s best friend. What Finn doesn’t tell Curtis is that Curtis one of his favorite cam boys. So what happens? Cuteness and chaos. Finn can’t stay away from Curtis and Curtis is your typical man who thinks relationships are not for him. Well HELLO Curtis, here is Mr. Perfect for you.

I love that this book didn’t have a major 3rd act breakup. I liked that when Finn and Curtis put all the pieces together about who they are to one another that they were able to see that they both actually love each other. They are meant to be happy together. I love that Finn never forced Curtis to stop being in front of the camera.

This book was HOT. They filmed with each other DAMN.

Very cute. Very funny. Classic Saxon and Eden.

Camboys are always a special read for me. I love them, and this one was no different. The way these two connected was super cute. I really loved the relationship scrooge vs. romantic aspect as well. This has all the things you expect from a cowrote and just all the good feels. I loved this so much. These two are amazing. Also, Beth had me in tears at some points. The Alzheimer rep was spot on and brought back memories.

I adored Finn and Curtis from the get go! Curtis' double life, Finn's life changing move, their undeniable chemistry.. I was so there for it! And I'm so glad that Eden & Saxon are writing more stories with Canadian rep!

This duo never disappoints and Money Shot is definitely another one that's right on target!

Sweet, flirty, steamy, and went in a bit of a different direction than I was expecting. (I wish we'd learned more about Curtis's background though!)

Who knew that a book about a cam boy and subscriber could be so heart warming?

honestly the storyline wasn't bad, but the main characters just weren't my favorite. 3.75/5
