Book ten and this series is still finding new heights. Void Forged takes everything that's been building across the last few entries and cranks it up several notches. Victor doesn't just level up here; he fundamentally changes. The cultivation arc at the heart of this book is the best the series has done, weaving emotional weight into what could easily have been just a stat upgrade. Chantico's presence makes it land.

What stood out to me is how the book balances the quieter, more introspective moments with the chaos going on outside Victor's vault. Plum Parrot keeps you feeling the urgency of the siege even while Victor is deep in cultivation, and when he finally emerges, it hits the way it's supposed to. The new class, the new affinity, the evolved feats, it all feels earned.

Still, the series lives and dies by its pacing, and there are stretches here that are dense even for a book this far into an established world. That said, if you've made it ten books in, you're past caring about that. This one sets up what should be a spectacular final stretch, and I'm genuinely excited for what comes next.

Still interesting and I enjoyed it. Victor has grown a great deal since the beginning of the story, but he still has a long way to go. My problem is that we're 10 books deep now, and my usual series endurance is 6-7. Yes exceptions such as this can push it longer, but we'll see when the next book comes out if it can still grab and hold my attention.

Not satisfied with the pace of this series.

I believe this champion arc was poorly done for the series. It was stretched over two books, that’s the first mistake. The second is that it doesn’t make all that much sense. I have enjoyed this series, but only as an average-quality one in this genre.

I have gone into detail before with other reviews about my likes and dislikes for the series, such as the cool world building or the lack of context for the MCs determination and fury. Those issues continue til the end of the series, which I finished on Royal Road.

For this one, I will stick to book 10. The first is obvious, books 9 and ten should have been cut down and made into one book.

The second is the whole arc makes no sense. A world where only champions fight? And leaders face death or exile? Plus the way it ended without the path we had been told needed to be walked, getting to cut to the end essentially, really kinda made this whole arc feel poorly fleshed out and rather janky. It honestly only served to facilitate some growth aspects for the MC, and allies for the final arc of the series.

The champion arc illustrates one of the issues for this series, which has been the inconsistent pacing from the beginning. There’s no consistency in storytelling, in how plots unfold, or in progression itself. It’s just all over the place. There’s some good stuff in this series, strong characters, interesting worlds and lore, but it’s just bogged down by what feels like a lack of a meta- perspective by the author for the series. An outline from the beginning, thoughts given to pacing, structure, etc. It just feels like it has always gone from one thing to the next at whatever pace the author felt like telling it.

I appreciate the author being on royal road and being so prodigious there. That’s a lot of work, and I have to give him kudos for cranking out a 12-volume series in a couple of years. But when asked there about how he’s rushed the ending of the series, he said each volume sold less and less. That he needed to start a new series, and that’s what he’s done.

But I’d ask him, why is it other authors can write over 12 books or write to that number and he can’t? It’s because of the inconsistencies in pacing along those three areas I’ve mentioned. The story is either too fast or too slow. The progression makes no sense, it’s just when the MC needs it, he gets it. There’s some fundamental issues with this series that are the cause of losing audience interest. It’s not only a natural process, it is to a degree, but that’s not all it is.

I’d urge the author to outline (rough plot for each novel) his newer series from the beginning. Each book should have a clear arc within itself, thus the payoffs we read for. The pacing should be consistent (not of in context time passing but of how the each book moves through the story). And there needs to be context for the character’s traits and consistency in the pace of progression, it can’t all come in battle or from some encounter.

As you can imagine, I was deeply unsatisfied with the last two books do this series, but I will get to that when they release.

Series Review: This LitRPG series takes some big bets with not all of them winning. Overall, its a fun ride and I appreciate the bets the author takes. Great progression through-out the series with enough push and pull that you feel the tension. The MC is interesting with flaws and actually changes as the series goes on. There are many times you expect the series to follow known tropes in the genre but it does a pretty good job of eschewing them for the most part. While the overarching story is engaging and the author does a solid job of establishing the longer term stakes, I find they struggle with getting from point A to point B in a dynamic way.

Good series but not great. I want more time with side characters, interesting themes and vibrant "middle" story lines.

The trend of having a ton of filler continues

Wasn't bad but was kind of disappointing. There's still a ton of filler dragging the storyline out way more than the earlier books and the most disappointing thing for me is a bit of a spoiler so I'll put it down a bit.

The protagonist has been so self-reliant and self-sufficient and accomplishing their goals and achieving their goals and in this book there's all this build up and then it's just kind of given to him and that just was very disappointing.

Very enjoyable. But it's important to realize that not much in the way of plot progresses in this particular book. Sure, we're poised to take over a whole world through duels and perhaps an all-out war, but very little page space is devoted to that. Instead, it's training montages and other kinds of progressions.

Which is, in itself, very enjoyable. :)

Plus, we get a ton of overall power jumps that make Victor truly beast after suffering a particularly nasty curse. Pure payoff.

As always, brilliant

My fav author in the litrpg genre... His ability to weave plots and make the characters realistic emotionally with depth is beyond his peers.... Realistic dialogue is also to notch on interplay between characters...
Highly recommend

waiting for the next book will be hard

I thought the series was complete when I started it. Wasn’t until the last two books that it was clear there is a lot more story left to go. On one hand that’s great, Victor is a neat character and I very much look forward to seeing more of his adventures. On the other, it means waiting and I don’t like that!

progression at its finest

The story continues. Growth, self reflection, glory, rage, fear, hope. Harem, not harem…haha, sorry but Victor dies surround himself with the ladies. Jokes aside, I’m really looking forward to the next one.

Still an enjoyable series, although the longer I read it the more I notice the formula. Not that it used to be subtle, just that I notice it more. It's a fun read, though!

I read this book on RoyalRoad before it's publication.

I can say how much I love this series and this book was another epic addition to the tale. The depth of the Victor and the universe he lives in are superb.
