3 ⭐️ It just got worse and worse with Mary, her character just didn’t sit right with me. At the end I wanted Akatsuki to just walk away from Yuri and just live his own life. Besides that, I think the art was great and there were parts of the story that I very much enjoyed.

We finally find out about Juri’s background and his dark secrets! This manga is very dark, it deals with topics such as grooming and sexual assault, forced prostitution and even non-consensual plastic surgery to severely alter the appearance of a side character. That being said, I did enjoy the progression of this story and I really liked the epilogue, it was super sweet! The story felt like it came to a natural conclusion for Juri and Akatsuki here, but it did end with “end of part 1”, so there’s a chance we’ll get a part 2 at some point, which I would be very interested in reading!

3.5, rounded up for the adorable epilogue. This series is a lot, but not in a schlocky way. Juri's past is terrible, and I wish it could have been different, but there's still something to be said for him having pulled himself out of a dark hole. His relationship with Akatsuki may not be the healthiest, but they're both aware of this and are working together towards something better. If there is, in fact, a part 2, I'll be curious to read it.

hoping the next volume has a bit more romance. This volume felt weirdly too short and it just didn't hit me with the "oh my god I love this feeling" I got from the first volume.

Somebody please save me from long wait times in between BL volumes especially with this one promising another as it says "end of part 1" at the end.
