Still scarred from a traumatic past, Jenna Rhodes seeks help from respected psychologist Dr. Beth Carter. Beth’s calm voice and gentle guidance feel like a lifeline—until the sessions take a dark turn.
Taking therapy to a new level leaves Jenna isolated at Beth’s remote family estate. Jenna begins to question her memories, her sanity... and her therapist’s intentions. But by the time she uncovers the truth, escape may already be impossible..
Now Jenna must outwit a twisted mind—and survive the legacy of the Carter family—before she becomes the next victim.
If this is what therapy looks like, I think I’ll figure out life on my own. It was so evident that Dr. Beth Carter had something sinister up her sleeve from almost the very beginning. I enjoyed seeing Beth’s story continue in this book, but I wish she was behaving different because how bad is it that I still want to love Beth? Lol.. I enjoyed Beth’s character in the previous story Bloodline Secrets, which is probably why I have a soft spot for her. The suspense & tension continued to build as you’re on the edge of your seat wondering who will survive these insane circumstances, that there is simply no escaping! Not sure if Beth’s story will continue, but the ending definitely left it open to the possibility and I am here for it!.

Not sure what to make of this story. It is definitely psychological story. Personally, I thought everyone in this story needed help! The story didn't really 'flow' well for me. The back-and-forth stuff made it hard for me to keep things straight. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Jenna battles debilitating panic attacks and turns to therapist Beth for help. But Beth has more than healing on her mind — she’s driven by darker motives and an unsettling desire to control her vulnerable patient. Clarise Foster crafts a compelling psychological thriller with excellent pacing and dual perspectives that allow readers to witness the story unfold through both women's eyes. The narrative maintains an unsettling atmosphere from the opening pages, gradually building tension until it becomes a genuine page-turner that kept me eagerly anticipating each twist. The two female protagonists are expertly developed, each displaying distinct forms of strength that make them fascinating to follow. Jenna's vulnerability feels authentic without rendering her helpless, while Beth's manipulative nature is chillingly believable. My only criticism lies with Nate, previously hired as a private investigator, whose characterization feels inconsistent. For someone in his profession, he appears, Initially at least, surprisingly naive and slow to pick up on obvious clues, which undermines the credibility of his role in the story. Despite this minor flaw, Therapy Session delivers an engaging psychological thriller that will satisfy readers who enjoy mind games and mounting suspense. The author demonstrates a strong grasp of the genre's requirements, creating an atmosphere of dread that lingers well after the final page. Recommended for: Fans of psychological thrillers and readers who enjoy exploring the darker side of therapeutic relationships.

Therapy Session started out well. The writing was descriptive, detailed, and interesting. As the suspense increased I looked forward to reaching the climax when the main character could find her way out of this situation and begin to heal. That’s when it started to fall apart. I felt as though the writer was using unsupported and unexplained occurrences to artificially boost suspense. For example, it was never explained how they kept finding the main character after her moves, or how they were getting into her new apartments. It was never revealed how the therapist managed to escape her psychiatric facility, and on top of that, to reestablish her private practice using a new name. Any one of these unexplained occurrences were improbable, and several unexplained occurrences just added up to bad writing. This is when the book began to feel repetitive and a little desperate. It was as though the writer had written herself into a corner and was simply using cheap tricks to create a very unsatisfying ending that really wasn’t an ending at all. In the long run, I wouldn’t recommend this book.
Therapy Session was a pretty thrilling story. Jenna is seeking help from her therapist, the one person anyone should be able to trust. At first, Beth's calming demeanor appeals to Jenna and lulls her into putting all her trust into Beth. So when Beth offers Jenna a knew therapy tactic, though it sounds sketchy, Jenna gives in and accepts. Jenna is now isolated on a family estate and running for her life. I loved Jenna's character because although she's so vulnerable, she has to be smart, cunning, and brave! The story is well written and keeps you captivated. It also felt like a quick red because you get sucked right in. I recommend giving this a read if you're in the mood for a psychological thriller.
I have read other books by this author and looked forward to this one. It didn’t disappoint!! It had my skin crawling and the hair on the back of my neck standing up from page one!! Jenna makes the tough decision to see a therapist. Did she choose the right one? She came highly recommended. Sometimes though recommendations are as wrong as a therapist. Is all of her secrets really safe? More importantly, is she…. This book has plenty of chills and thrills as you go inside the mind of a psychopath. The one thing is…. Who exactly is the psychopath?? This was a great read!! Loved every minute of it!!

Dark, twisted, and seriously unsettling—in the best way. Therapy Session is a chilling psychological thriller that gets under your skin. I loved the way Jenna’s mind slowly unraveled, keeping me unsure of what was real and what was manipulation. Dr. Beth Carter and her brother? Absolutely diabolical. I never had a clear read on Beth’s motives, and that uncertainty was terrifying.
The Carter family legacy added a unique, eerie layer that gave the story more depth than I expected. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with isolated settings, gaslighting, and dangerous minds at play, this one’s worth the ride. Creepy, tense, and surprisingly emotional.
Who needs therapy when you have a therapist like Dr. Beth Carter? From the beginning I had my reservations about her and as the story went on I knew why. I enjoyed how descriptive the writer was with the story. The darkness and twist were perfectly crafted. The ending was entertaining but left me with some questions which isn't a bad thing if the writer intends on writing another book to this series. This is my first time reading a book by Clarise Foster and looking forward to reading her other work.
Thank you Bookfunnel Clarise Foster for the eARC. This review is that of my own.
Therapy Session: A Gripping Psychological Thriller, my third psychological thriller read from author Clarise Foster following. A 212-page mystery/psychological thriller. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

3.5 STARS I found Therapy Session to be an ok book but there were too many unanswered questions and it kind of ended on a cliff hanger. According to the end of the book there will be some answers regarding what came before in the follow up, Bloodline Secrets: A Psychological Thriller, and the excerpts offered look promising. Not sure I will go there though. I received a copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving my opinion of the tale.
This book struck me as a bit of a slow burn, something you needed patience to continue reading. That said I enjoyed the story, even though it was quite creepy and strange at times. I found myself trying to guess what would happen next - sometimes right, others not. In so saying, it was not the ending I expected nor a predictable one.

Excellent book! I loved every second! Talk about twists and turns. Lots of surprises I was not expecting. I think there's going to be another book. I do not think this story is finished. I feel like there are pieces to the story missing. Definitely love this author. Highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.
“Therapy Session” by Clarice Foster is a dark, twisty thriller that kept me hooked from the start. The story follows Jenna, who puts her trust in her therapist—only to discover that trust can be deadly. Suspenseful and chilling, this psychological ride dives into manipulation and betrayal in all the worst ways.
Was a book of suspense that kept you thinking all the way through. It kept you guessing until the end. I enjoy a book that keeps me from putting it down. Can't wait for the next book Clarise writes.
You need to read obession and bloodline secrets as this follows on. 2 points of view beth and jenna and also nate is involved Beths cousin. This booked had me hooked, its well wrote, great story line and shocking. I was reading it like this most of the time😮 5 star read
This is my first book by this author and will not be my last! She weaves a tale of therapy, well you have to read the book so I don’t give anything away. Suffice to say Beth and Jenna have quite a relationship for therapist and patient. She packs a lot into this story and I loved it!
This is a very entertaining psychological thriller. The plot is well written and intense. The suspense kept me reading non-stop. The twist that I never saw coming! Highly recommended page turner.
This was such a great thriller! I wasn't expecting several plot twists. Now I need to know how Beth became Beth. Always question everyone, trust no one.
A really suspenseful read. A trusted psychologist and a patient wo seeks her help, takes therapy to a new low. A gripping thriller with lots of twists and turns, making this page turner a must read!
This is a great psychological thriller by Clarise Foster. It’s a psychologist and patient interaction gone wrong, leaving Jenna in the hands of her unethical psychologist, Beth. Clarise Foster leads us down the twisted path that Jenna is forced to take. Jenna begins to question herself and what is real or not. It was very exciting and hard to put down. I received an ARC copy from the author and this is my honest review.
