Escaping to a ranch after a failed engagement? Sounds healing. Catching feelings for the cowboys who live there? Complicated.
After my engagement crashed and burned, I needed a break from reality. So when I won a stay at a ranch, it seemed like the perfect escape. Fresh air. Quiet. Maybe pet a goat. Definitely not get near a horse.
What I didn’t expect were three attractive cowboys to come with the deal.
Enzo is grumpy and silent, always watching like he’s waiting for me to mess up. Kellan flirts like it’s his job and smiles like he knows it’s working. And Reid, calm and careful, makes me feel seen in a way that’s terrifying.
I planned to lie low and clear my head, but when the ranch’s summer camp is left without a teacher, I find myself wrangling more than just my emotions.
Now I’m living with all three of them and second-guessing everything I thought I wanted. And wanting to stick around? That might have never been part of their plan.
Stick Around is a spicy why choose contemporary rom com with animal chaos, shirtless cowboys, and plenty of heat. It is a standalone with a happily ever after.
This book was honestly kind of dumb, but in a fun way. Stick Around leans hard into the “I went to heal and accidentally got three hot cowboys” trope, and I can respect that. It’s light, silly, and spicy enough to keep you turning pages, even if logic took a long vacation.
That said, the hobby-horsing subplot? I cannot take that seriously. People who love it, more power to you, but it made me laugh every time and I just can't imagine actual horse-loving cowboys would find it anything than utterly (barn-pun-intended) ridiculous... The romance is fine, some cute moments, a few good spicy ones, but it never really digs deep. Still, for a weekend fluff read that doesn’t ask much of you, it’s weirdly entertaining.
The romance is cute with some good spice. I wish there was a little more scenes to see the guys personalities as opposed to Quinn just narrating their traits.
And I could not get over the hobby horse being serious thing (sorry not sorry)
A woman finds out her fiance is cheating on her, so her bff signs her up for a hobby horsing competition to cheer her up. When she accidentally wins, she wins a trip to spend a week at a ranch with three cowboys. And that’s all she wrote.
This was a super quick and easy read, but the hobby horsing got me. I don’t want to be a hater, but reading about a grown woman unironically running and jumping with a stick horse between her legs gave me the ick.
Yes, she also ends up competing professionally. Added half a star for no third act breakup.
DNF. The characters haven’t come close to any type of meaningful discussion. There’s a finger caress here and a look there. There were definitely some humorous moments but no progression in relationships.
“For a while, we just soaked, sipping wine and picking from the charcuterie board balanced on the edge of the tub. The conversation came easier than it should have with someone I barely knew. It flowed from her teaching experiences to my most ridiculous guest stories, from her ex’s betrayal to my parents’ dysfunctional marriage.”
They talk of conversation but you don’t get to actually witness the conversation. Write the dialogue. There’s been a very small handful of discussions between the mmcs and the fmc. If they’re getting to know each other, SHOW US THAT. Don’t just say it happened and move on. It’s so far all completely surface level and frustrating.
This was a hilariously funny story with lots of laugh out loud moments with sexy cowboys and crazy farm animals. There was a sweet city girl learning to be herself and to do the unexpected. This story was weaved with spice, lovable characters and a sweet unexpected love story with three cowboys and a city girl.
When I started reading this from the start I was pulled into the story with drunken girls and hobby horses. I snort laughed too many times to count. Then there were escape artist animals and jealous donkeys and I couldn’t stop reading.
I’m really glad I took the chance on this and found a new author to stalk, I mean read.
Hobby horse riding. ? Never heard of her but sure why not. This was a cute, fun smutty read. No drama , no third act break up just three cowboys and their girl.
This was such a funny and feel-good read, I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to read more from this author!
Quinn, fresh off the edge of heartbreak, gets signed up by her best friend for a ridiculous Hobby Horse Show. To her surprise, she not only wins but earns a week-long stay at a real working ranch. That’s where she meets three swoon-worthy cowboys: • Rein, the quiet animal whisperer • Kellan, the goofy, go-with-the-flow sweetheart • Enzo, the serious, brainy one holding it all together
I loved how Quinn embraced ranch life without hesitation. She dove into the chores and challenges like a pro and had no problem getting her hands dirty. Her natural connection with the children and the sweet teaching moments added so much heart to the story.
And the animals are absolutely unforgettable! Little Walter melted my heart, Debra the drama-loving donkey kept me laughing, and Eggatha the chicken who thinks a horse was just the cherry on top.
Favorite quote: “I’d spent my entire adult life managing classrooms full of unpredictable children, but nothing had prepared me for the psychological warfare of being sized up by a vindictive donkey.”
If you’re in the mood for laughs, heart, and a little steam, this book is a must-read!
I loved this! Why aren’t more people reading it!! This book had me laughing out loud a lot, I loved all the ranch animals and their antics. The four main characters were really fun, Quinn was my fav. I loved how unapologetic she was about finding something she loved, even if people viewed it as weird or were rude, and it was beautiful how supportive all her men were. They all felt like such a team and fit together so well. I definitely went into this seeing hobby horsing as a bit of a joke but now can appreciate the joy it brings!
I came across this little gem when it popped up on my kindle
I am so glad I read some of the reviews and I couldn't agree with them more.
Our fmc Quinn wins a trip to a ranch what follows is an amazing fast paced relationship between the characters (the humans ones) but the animals they really stole the show! Debra the donkey... Hilarious! What a great asset she was !!
OMG I have never read a book with sooo much hilarious moments that started in chapter 1, some cringe worthy moments that made me laugh so hard I couldn’t stop reading til I finished the book. I gave it a five star because i couldn’t give more. If you haven’t read this book yet I suggest you hurry up and do it now you will not regret it.
Loved this really cute cowboy RH with a very witty and slightly sassy FMC getting over her failed engagement in a very surprising way—resulting in an extraordinary week, make the three, nope let’s just make it an HEA. Smexy men, jealous donkeys, and many other wondrous ranch inhabitants. 5 stars. Cute factor and feel good guaranteed.
3½⭐ I find the hobby horse thing utterly ridiculous but hey if thats what your into then you do you boo. Overall this was a decent read with alright spice, even if some of the story seemed OTT. The characters were likeable, even the animals. Parts of this book did seem a little rushed but not to bad as to ruin the story overall.
It was a great read, corky in all the right places. Loved Quinn she was amazing. Her three Cowboys were something else, strong and steady, lovable and charismatic and you got the silent type that is better with animals than people. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
I love a good RH read, and that aspect of the book was great. I loved the way the relationships were each built on something different. However, I had to skip through every section about hobby horsing which made it less enjoyable to read. Proceed with caution.
Yeehaw giddyup cowboy! Not one but three cowboys for this woman. There was hilarious moments that had me giggling, then there was the sinful banter 🥵, and line dancing (Not all of it upright) 🔥. It was a fun, delight story that kept me entertained until the end.
This was my first book of Maya Nicole's and I was NOT disappointed. Humor, vulnerability, and light hearted comedy from the beginning. No prolonged angst and likeable characters made this a fun read!
Maya Nicole has done it again with Stick Around. Plenty of spice and funny bits that made me laugh out loud. I loved the characters and the distinct personalities of the different animals which added to the book’s humour.
This was such a fun story. I just loved the chemistry between everyone and the way they supported each other. The guys had such different yet complimentary personalities and they brought out the best in Quinn. And those mad animals, they were so cool!
This book is a hug, seriously nothing but good vibes. Absolutely love it! There's plenty of laughs, spice, and non-toxic behavior from everyone. Bravo! Highly recommend
Not for me Firts 100 pages were fine but neither the best Did not like any characters I did not connected with story, Reid was like he likes more the rest of the men than Quinn seems gay.
