The Bakehouse Three unite to find and rescue a favorite customer and her dog before time runs out.
Although tourists are their summertime bread and butter, Bread on Arrival bakehouse owners Carol MacCallan, Laura Donovan, and Molly Ferris also welcome plenty of local regulars. Outdoors enthusiast Jeanette Franklin is one such customer, so it’s especially unnerving when she and her adorable springer spaniel, Scout, go missing. Although it would be bad enough for Jeanette to have injured herself, evidence arises that her ties to a major business deal being brokered by her estranged husband could have made her a target for violence.
Sensing the situation’s dire urgency, the Bakehouse Three map out a course of action that will hopefully bring Jeanette home safe, organizing a search party to comb nearby hiking trails, conservation areas, and other remote locations. But if they don’t find Jeanette off the beaten path, can they unearth clues to her true whereabouts before time runs out? Or is tracking down Jeanette Franklin simply a lost cause?
This clever whodunit from Annie’s Scottish Bakehouse Mysteries series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, baking, Scottish culture, and female friendships.
Sandra leaps off the garden trails of her herbal-researcher-turned-amateur-sleuth (Port Aster Secrets) series, to the museum corridors of her plucky FBI art crime agent Serena Jones, in A Fool and His Monet.
When not plotting crimes, Sandra plays make-believe with her grandchildren or hikes with her hubby along the escarpment, near their home in Niagara, Canada.
Her novels have garnered numerous awards, including the National Readers' Choice Award, a Holt Medallion Award of Merit, an RT Book Reviews Reviewers' Choice Award, the Daphne DuMaurier Award of Excellence and five national Canadian Awards.
Another fun mystery that takes place in the humble town of Loch Mallaig, Michigan. A beautiful Scottish town right here in America. A woman has gone missing! Time is running out to find her, as her diabetic supplies must surely be dwindling. As the reader, we just have no idea if she's been kidnapped, or if she could be stranded somewhere in the wilderness on one of the many hiking trails outside of town. The story really picked up more for me about halfway through, the mystery seemed more real with clues starting to add up. I really do like this series and look forward to reading more!
After finding the third book in this series a bit disappointing, this one was better again. This one had more focus on Carol, and a bit more of the friendship theme was back in the book. The clues were there for the ending to make sense, and per usual with this type of book, you didn't have to think too hard about it - making it a great pool/beach read.
“Lass and Found” by Sandra Orchard is the fourth book in the Scottish Bakehouse Mysteries series. Once again the trio of bakehouse ladies are involved in solving a town mystery.
Carol was the prominent bakehouse owner in this book. Fun read and new learnings/insights of the friends.
This one started out as my least favorite of the series, but I enjoyed it more by the end. This one actually mentions prayer in it, which I appreciate.
