Fallen/Raine

Rate this book
Nine years ago, four men gave me my life back. After enduring the most traumatic experience anyone could face, I spiralled into darkness but they didn’t abandon me in that abyss. They pulled me from the depths of despair, rage, and self-loathing. One by one they helped piece me back together. They protected me, pushed me to confront my fears, and gave me the courage I had lost.
One of them has always stayed closer than the others, watching over me and pulling me into his embrace whenever I feared I’d never feel safe again. He kept me standing, right there by my side through every terrifying moment, and helped mend my broken existence.
Axel Raine entered my life when I needed him the most, offering the tough love I never knew I needed. He watched me rise from the ashes of my past, fighting back and reclaiming my strength. I owe him everything. He’s an enigma, this towering man with secrets buried deep beneath his tattoos and scars. I’ve spent so long looking into those steel-grey eyes, and I see the storm brewing beneath them, one I would gladly face for him.
As our feelings grow deeper, we find ourselves caught in a toxic spiral of crueltyand jealousy.  Our intense desire for one another blurs our judgment, and we struggle to move forward, each haunted by our own past traumas, yet neither willing to utter the truth.

OH MY GOD! L Williams has done it again! Fallen / Raine follows PJ and Axe, two characters we met in the Sunny Sunshine duet and two characters I’ve been dying to learn more about!

Pam is a fucking warrior. Surviving the notorious Luca Bernardi, Pam connects with 4 men looking to do good in the world. Michael, Bhodi, Jimmy and Axe came together for Pam, and after the loss of Michael, it seems Pam has really become the glue of the group. But she suffers silently, or so she thinks. Axe is tough and jaded and honestly an incredibly sweet thoughtful man.

There are as many delicious as elements to this book as there are reasons to cry. From Axe’s undercover romantic side, to the steel that run through Pam, this was such an incredibly beautiful way to bring two damaged humans together. L. Williams is absolutely incredible at writing authentic human experiences and Fallen / Raine is absolutely full of them.

The cliffhanger?! THE CLIFFHANGER. I will be sitting in my reading chair rocking back and forth until the next book comes out. It was brutal but absolutely worth it!!

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I highly recommend this story!! It’s beautiful and raw and hard and heartbreaking but ultimately absolutely worth it. I also recommend reading The Sunny Sunshine duet right before picking up Fallen/Raine - there are important plot points you’re going to want to remember from the first duet.

I absolutely loved this!

If you liked The Sunny Sunshine Duet then you'll love this one. You definitely need to have read that before this as people and events from the first duet are mentioned a lot. This book is Part 1 of the Shattered Duet and ends on a cliffhanger. It focuses on Pam & Axel, their back stories, and their toxic will they/won't they relationship.

This book is a lot deeper and more emotional. I felt all of the emotions reading this; hopeful, excitement, happy, frustration, angst, sadness. Although a lot happens and there is still a lot of action, there is also a lot on their respective past traumas, which I feel gives the characters a lot of depth. They were extremely frustrating at times with how they handle things and behave, but that is to be expected. It felt very real and raw.

I just love Axel and Pam, separately and together.
Pam is broken, beautiful, and delicate. But at the same time she is independent, feisty, and fun.
Axel is possessive, tough, and grumpy. But at the same time he is soft, caring, and wants his HEA.

I'm not sure if it is just me, but I get weird vibes from Aidan. I don't know what it is but I don't trust him. I could be completely wrong though lol.

I love that Summer and Bhodi are still very much involved, and I'm super intrigued by Eva & Jimmy's chemistry.

This is a toxic and dark romance that you will just want to work. The spice was SPICING!! & THAT ENDING!!! I need more, instantly!

There are a lot of dark themes throughout, so please check trigger warnings before reading.

Overall, if you like a gritty and spicy dark romance, then I can't recommend this universe enough. Start with Two/Face, then Summer/Time, and the Fallen/Raine. You will not regret it!
Lucy has become an auto-buy author for me. I love her characters and writing.

The Sunny Sunshine Duet is available on KU now for you to get started if you haven't already. You are welcome ;)

This book is amazingly addictive. I have read this book cover to cover as well as fallen in love with the story, the characters and everything in between. I love how strong the FMC is despite everything she goes through. Very real with how the situations are written. Their love is undeniably strong. They keep trying to deny it and act as if it's not there. I LOVED THIS BOOK !!!!!!!

⭐️ 6/5
🌶️ 4.5/5

I don't know where to start with this review. I absolutely loved this book, from start to finish. I could not put this book down, it was a truly addictive read. The way that L.Williams writes you are completely immersed with in the books it is so easy to feel all of the emotions the characters are going through. It was an emotional rollercoaster, but I was here for the ride. This is the kind of book that I wish everyone who likes this genre could read because I know they would love it. This book was MORE, more emotional, more raw, a lot deeper, darker but I loved it.

I loved the character development and world building in this book I could picture ever every scene. I really enjoyed the relationship between all of the characters, the found family vibes are strong.

I loved PJ she was so raw and the kind of FMC that you just want to win by the end of the book. Axel is also so lovable, both characters are a bit broken but I think they are exactly what the each other need.

The angst in this book had me on the edge of my seat, the push and pull was fantastic and boy when that rubber band snaps it SNAPS the spice was spicy. Axel and PJ are the perfect storm.

This is part 1 in The Shattered Duet and I can not wait for part 2 because that cliff hanger may have made me shed a few tears and my jaw hit the floor....

I would recommend readers check the trigger warning list, but I would recommend this book to anyone who likes their books dark with dark themes.

🧸 Fallen/Raine 🧸

L.Williams blew me away with the Sunny/Sunshine duet, so as soon as she needed ARC readers for this one I couldn’t sign up quick enough. You definitely need to read the Sunny/Sunshine duet before this one though as this follows on from that, so you need to understand events in those books.

I was hooked from the beginning and loved how we don’t have to wait long for action, and some touching moments from Axel and the Little Bear story 🥹

I absolutely adore Pam, her exterior of being independent, fun and sassy is a total mask for her vulnerability and past trauma which she is healing from. The moments of total raw emotion she shares with Axel are so powerful and Lucy has written their stories so well.

This is an action packed, spice filled first book in the Shattered Duet and what a cliffhanger too!! Give me part 2 ASAAAAAP 😭😭

Paperback releases 31 August 🖤💙
Ebook releases 19 September 🖤💙

When two souls have been intertwined to become one, you’re in for a world full of chaos, darkness, lies, secrets mixed with unspoken feelings that are hidden beneath trauma. Pam and Axel have carried a lot of pain and brokenness in their lives, navigating their own struggles and each other’s. Their chemistry runs deep and intense, but the toxic nature of it will prove to be challenging.

Not only will this affect them, but the lives of their friends. But through all of the hurt and what may feel like hopelessness, there’s love and support to help overcome the fears they’ve carried over from their past. Although, you can’t replace what was broken, you can try and put the pieces back together for a better tomorrow.

I recommend Fallen/ Raine to anyone who’s interested in experiencing multiple emotions at once, even the ones that may be hard to express, and let’s not forget the spicy ones. It’s easy to get pulled into this book and even easier to get attached to not just the main characters, but the supporting characters as well. Each with their own story that has given them the courage and bravery to continue on.

I must warn you though, once you start this book, you won’t want to stop! But be prepared for the cliffhanger, it’s one that’ll leave you on your toes.

Part one of this book will be available on August 31st, so make sure you check it out.

I honestly don’t know where to begin🙈
I absolutely love the main characters in this book their development is amazing, I loved PJ and could really understand her anxiety (not for the same reasons), however I think she should of stood her ground more. Axel really annoyed me at times! But you can’t help but love him and really want to find out more about him. However there is one character that I can’t help but dislike, I don’t think he is genuine (I might be wrong). Every time his name is mentioned I get the ick! The found family in this book is portrayed so well.
I love Lucy’s writing as you literally feel like you’re living in the book. I loved the plot, the twists and the spice was spicing!!
If you loved the sunny sunshine duet you will fall in love with this book too. This is part one in the shattered duet and honestly I’m annoyed I don’t have part 2 in my hands as it ends on a cliffhanger but I can’t wait to read it and find out what happens and if my gut is right.
Please check the trigger warnings for this book before reading but if you love this kind of genre then please give it a read like now!

Lucy, you’ve done it again! I am totally in love with both PJ and Axel and their dynamic. Two characters who have both suffered trauma, i was so invested in this story that I just wanted to cry along with Pam in some parts my heart broke for her the same with reading about axels past with his sister etc!

The characters and storyline are just so brilliantly written it gets you hooked straight away and you feel like you are there in the story with the characters!

When the spice arrived it did NOT disappoint, the spice was definitely spicy 🥵🌶️

In other parts of the book it had me totally giggling and when you read it you’ll know the parts I’m talking about 🤭

The end…..this does end on a cliffhanger and I am still emotionally dealing with it, I need part 2 ASAP 😭
Please do check trigger warnings before reading!

If you have NOT read the sunny sunshine duet please go and grab a copy it is available on Amazon to buy and also on kindle unlimited! You’ll need to read first in order to properly understand this book, you will not be disappointed!

L. Williams is back at it again, like I knew she would be! 🥰

This is book one in the Shattered Duet, following P.J. and Axel, who are both navigating the weight of their own traumas. I absolutely LOVED them together; their chemistry, their growth, the way they balance each other.

Safe to say, I DEVOURED this book! Lucy’s writing style pulls you in so effortlessly that you feel every emotion right alongside the characters. Fair warning though, this one ends on a cliffhanger, and I’m so freakin’ emotional, I need part two ASAP!

⚠️ Please note that this book deals with heavy themes. Make sure to read the trigger warnings before diving in. Also, this story ties into characters and events from The Sunny Sunshine Duet, so I highly recommend reading that first for the full experience.

OBSESSED!!!

This is the second book by L. Williams i have read. I've never read this genre before, it was recommended i try "something different" by a friend and I'm so glad i listened! This had me hooked, I couldn't put it down. The characters i loved from the sunny sunshine duet.

Heck, I even shouted a name in my sleep I was so invested! (So my husband informed me)
I loved the first book 'the sunny sunshine duet' But i am OBSESSED with this one. I could feel the emotion the passion and pain in Fallen/Raine.

Lucy's writing has a new confidence and growth with this book and I'm here for it!
