Bosnia, 2003. Captain Marco Spada of the 1° Reggimento Carabinieri Paracadutisti ‘Tuscania’ is on the field with his efficient, silent team, nearing the end of a four-year tour with the GIS (Special Intervention Group). One last mission before destroy a strategic weapons and explosives depot held by Serbian militants. But just as the operation seems complete, everything goes wrong – dozens of innocent civilians die, his entire team is wiped out, and Marco is captured by his own commanders.
2007. Confined in solitary isolation at Trani’s maximum-security prison, Marco lives under a false identity, with the constant threat that his loved ones will be killed if he ever reveals the truth. But when he discovers evidence that could prove his innocence, and a fearless investigative journalist is determined to bring the Bosnia massacre story back to light, the ex-Tuscania officer decides to go back into action to exact revenge and restore his team’s honor.
This time, though, there’s one difference from the old the GIS man must protect the teenage son of one of his dearest fallen brothers – to uphold a battlefield promise, the kind sealed in blood. And Marco still carries the weight of that honor.
