I was always second best. Second to my perfect sister. Second in my own engagement.
Rhys Granger—rich, powerful, stupidly handsome—was supposed to be my fiancé. My chance at finally being chosen. But all it took was one chipped mug—and one slap—for me to realize the truth.
He didn't love me. He loved her. And I was just the stand-in.
So I slapped him, walked away… and fell into the arms of his billionaire rival.
One night. One bar. One unforgettable mistake.
He was everything Rhys wasn't—dangerous, magnetic, utterly off-limits. Our night together? A scandal waiting to happen. But it was also the best decision I've ever made.
Because now, he's not just a one-night stand. He's claiming me. And he has no intention of giving me back.
🔥 Perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers, billionaire romance, love triangle drama, accidental marriage, revenge plots, and heroines who fight back.
read up to chapter 80 - Ghost from the Past of the web version - figured it could be the end of book 1. it's a 0 spoilers review. ads of webnovels like this one were jumping at me for a while so I decided to try this one because the premise and writing style started interesting. while reading this I learned that publishing an unfinished work is a challenge, it's not going to work if you have a rough idea what you want to write, you need to have the facts sorted and planned because there is no rearranging if the chapters are already published and forgetting where you are in the plot is very easy even if it's mostly linear, or maybe it's even harder if you keep it linear. what you get is plot holes in the least, then continuity errors, logical inconsistency and this story have them all. sometimes you have a feeling that it has time travelling like the same thing happens over and over but slightly different - redundancy. there is way too much overreacting for my taste - petty shit shows over and over - gets boring pretty fast. "villains" are one-dimensional but so are the main characters. good points - eye for details, seems like the research for non-romantic plot and points was done thoroughly, descriptions are detailed and rich, snarks and inner monologues are quite entertaining
Meh. This started out with some interest but became everybody targeting the main characters, words exchanged, retribution incurred...again and again and again.
I can't believe I stuck this out for something like 300 ridiculous chapters in what is probably book 1, 2, 3... and now there 100 more chapters that magically appeared. I am done. Regret this kind of time spent!
The first third (book 1?) actually felt like a different author with creative although overwritten similes. After that, it seemed like an entirely different author and increasingly illogical situations. Big events were just skipped over.
Added: The illogical pieces are bugging me. What was the purpose in targeting the jewelry competition? The timing is wrong. It just doesn't work. How could a scuba diver slice a big gash in a hand without noticeably damaging the glove? Do these people know whether they are married or engaged? I was getting whiplash. How could a company that Ashton owns try to take over a company Ashton owns? Why would anyone take a yacht from a cruise ship to scuba and take along suitcases and a goldfish? Are 60% of these rabbit-hole micro-plots necessary?
Can we blame AI for any of this?

Loved this book from beginning to the end, even though it's unfinished and you need to read the next one to.see what happens next. I got drawn in from the beginning when Mira realised Rhys was a sleeze and was cheating on her with her sister, Then meeting Ashton, Great story can't wait to read the next one and see if they fall in love or not.
This has everything, Money, Sex, enough violence to satisfy the primal need for revenge and a style of humour that had me cackling hard the whole way through!
First this needed a good proofread as her friend’s name kept changing. But the worst is the book isn’t finished. Who puts out a dang book that isn’t finished
