Practical tips for the office, but reads like a manual

I mostly picked this up because I wanted to understand why some people at my office seem to glide into promotions while others get stuck, even when they have the same technical skills. It is also true that living with a teenager and a pre teen makes you realize pretty quickly that you need better ways to handle conflict without losing your cool. I liked that this guide focuses on actual behaviors rather than just vague theories about feelings. The sections on active listening and building trust were useful reminders for me, and the real world examples from big companies made the advice feel relevant to my actual job.

I am settling on four stars because the format feels a little bit like a textbook. There are a lot of bullet points and checklists which are great for taking notes but make it a bit boring to sit and read for a long time. Also if you have been in the corporate world for a while like I have, some of the tips on communication might feel like common sense to you already. It is a solid resource to keep on your desk for a quick refresher, just know that it reads more like a manual than a story.

A great tool for leadership in the work place

A insightful guide for anyone wanting to strengthen their emotional intelligence in a professional setting. What I appreciated most is how the book ties each EQ behavior to real workplace scenarios communication challenges, team dynamics, conflict resolution, and leadership expectations. The examples feel true-to-life and make it easy to see how better self-awareness, empathy, and emotional regulation can immediately improve performance and relationships at work.
